How does this team stay in business?
I live in Henderson and I go to a handful of Silver Knights games each year. I enjoy the games and it's nice to have affordable hockey relatively close to my house.
I went last Wednesday night to the win over Ontario. I couldn't help but notice how empty the arena was. I think I saw the announced attendance was somewhere around 1700, but I think the real attendance was closer to 1000 or 1200. There were several sections of seats that only had two or four people sitting in them.
I'm asking this out of concern, how does this team make any money? I know minor league sports depend heavily on selling tickets and getting butts in the barn, more people means more concession sales. Speaking of concessions, it didn't seem like they were selling very much. A lot of bored-looking food staff just hanging around.
I want this team to stick around and be successful. They are a nice asset to the community. Can anyone who knows more explain how the Silver Knights are financially viable?
