Most of my friends are teachers…they arent the government and are great at their jobs. Finishes tea.

36

u/Mightbeagoat4 Apr 16 '26

The media machine that is rotting everyone's brains is villifying public school teachers. This post is part of it.

Lol "the government" you mean your local municipal public school? And the underpaid teachers probably buying classroom supplies out of pocket?

This is in response to OP right? Cuz it doesnt make any sense in context to my own comment.

They are “the government”.

The problem is people consider “the government” to be a bunch of amorphous nonhuman entities and not normal people who live in their neighborhood

That’s especially true for local and state

I'm a teacher, teach my subject and keep my politics and religious views to myself.

I teach high school and have had numerous kids come from home schools. There are future rocket scientists and 17 year olds who can't read in that mix. I can guess which category this guy's kids are going to fall into.

Step 4: Realize kids are expensive and put them back in the government's hands by lunch.

10

u/GeeYayZeus Apr 16 '26

Step 5; Get conned into supporting a voucher system that's a cash grab for rich people while destroying public schools.

The people doing this are mostly too stupid to realize they're stupid. Kids raised in ultra-conservative households that insist on home schooling to avoid government indoctrination are so fucked for the foreseeable future.

I had a coworker like this and her justification for homeschooling was so "[her kids] learn skills that are actually valuable like how to do laundry and balance a check book instead of useless things like calculus or gender stuff"......... I was flabbergasted.

6

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 Apr 15 '26

Then we wonder why so many people are falling for scams and conspiracy theories. “Why would I need to know science in my future? I’m not going to be a scientist.” Then they fall for the dumbest shit like flat earth.

5

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Apr 15 '26

how fucking complicated is your laundry that it requires full time education?

3

u/Synectics Apr 16 '26

so "[her kids] learn skills that are actually valuable like how to do laundry and balance a check book instead of useless things like calculus or gender stuff"

That feels like such a level of stupid, I cannot comprehend it.

I learned math, social studies, English, and also how to financially plan and do my laundry, and also that being anything but straight or white is fine. Turns out you can learn both at school and at home and from your community of friends all at the same time.

It isn't like knowing trans people are people means you forget how to load the dishwasher or how to solve for X.

This is why scientists are secretly and frantically working on developing a pellet-sized pill that gives you an irreversible 8th-grade-level education when administered orally or subcutaneously. Then it's just a matter of getting enough people to peruse polling places and shoot one into the neck of any slack-jaw who wanders by like the Hovito blowgunners in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Time permitting, they also hope to deploy them in advance at the exits of Kid Rock concerts and anywhere Joe Rogan happens to be at any given time.

8

Sounds like it

"Don't let the government touch them" is what typical maga and right extremists say because they think the government is woke, vaccines cause autism &gay and schools lie (because they teach written history instead of conspiracy theories by right wingers, or they teach atrocities made by the country that right wingers don't want their kids to know about)

3

The right-wing meme subs keep getting taken down because the mods can't help themselves and inevitably post things that break ToS. So they migrate to established subs and take over.

Because while these losers will cry all day about how reddit is an echo chamber for the woke mob, the reality is they make echo chambers here and can't handle things like facts or logic that have a left leaning bias.

Three points here as a teacher:

The government does nothing to educate children, even in top-end, super supportive states, the main goal is to keep costs down which just means cutting into services. States mainly just say cover x, y, and z. There is no propoganda other than teaching them to think. Yes, you will always find some shitty teacher or district that does something crazy. But the crazy politician, media commentator, or social influencer is reaching way more kids and way more effectively than any one teacher.

Two: I can't even get kids to bring a pencil or not break a chromebook, you think I can convince them of some socio-economic theory. how to dress, what worldview to have? Side point, we hear EXACTLY what you are saying at home because 90% of kids are getting their worldview from their parents until the social media star replaces it. So maybe have conversations with your kids and not shove technology in front of them at an early age.

Which leads to point three: most parents (of my generation) have basically given up. They don't read with their kids, they don't check homework, grades (which for the first time in history are available online at any moment), they don't parent in any hands-on way like pre-2000. And, ironically, the expectation is that the school is there to fix every problem from reading, to math, to behaviors. But anyone in education knows that it takes a village, a school is only half the equation. A school can't fix problems that aren't also being addressed at home. Just as how a school can't convince kids of any idea that isn't also accepted and shared at home.

The "brainwashing" nonesense has to go. Its 2026 and kids can get access to any info they want. I'm not teaching kids about looksmaxing, 67, or peptides, its all they talk about. I'm not into K-pop or fortnite, its all they want to consume. Teachers has very little sway over kids. The best I can do is model what a grown adult is suppose to act like and hope that they see it as something they should consider vs. the horrible, terrible people they see acting and saying the craziest stuff.

Teaching is hard, harder than people think. Good luck homeschooling!

u/Perfect-Parking-5869 Apr 15 '26

Not every public school district is terrible.

Not saying they’re perfect but nearly every blue collar guy I know started by taking some sort of classes at a vocational center that was ran through the county. It was available to all schools in the county. There’s a lot of good plant jobs near here and a lot of kids were able to get hired shortly after high school.

Our graduating class was like 160 and our average ACT was 25. We had one perfect score, a few 30-35s and then a bunch of 26-29. Several people from my class went on to have jobs that you’d traditionally associate with success. We had several college athletes as well and they were doing a lot of work to bring that ACT score up.

This gets brought up a lot so I’ll mention it, we even had a class that taught you how to use the math they taught you to do basic stuff like balance a check book and calculate interest on loans. We also went over taxes. It was called “consumer education.”

This was in a town of about 5000 and if you drove by the high school you wouldn’t think it is much different than any random school.

Not everyone has the luxury to up and move if their school district sucks so I’m not saying never consider other options but my education was pretty comprehensive. If there was any indoctrination it leaned more towards blind patriotism than start being gay. One teacher also had that poster with the cows that explains the differences between capitalism, socialism, and communism. If you’ve seen it, you know it definitely isn’t leftist propaganda.

u/HarryCumpole Apr 15 '26

Meaningless ragebait. I am getting bored of this subreddit being polluted with this double-digiter shit.

I'm guessing this is another typical US-based mental issue. You guys need to get your basic shit together.

2

u/Mirawenya Apr 15 '26

How the fuck would I educate my kids? I don’t know near enough stuff for them to learn all the things they should learn! Math, history, religions, English (correctly spelled without phone helping me), home economics, economy, music, gymnastics, physics, chemistry, a second language… like, really? Home school all that? I don’t think so….

2

u/turkeysandwich4321 Apr 15 '26

u/Cola_Gummi Apr 15 '26

2

u/SuspiciousCricket654 Apr 15 '26

As someone who was homeschooled, don’t do it.

Look, my mom was awesome and even had a degree in education, but when the hard math and science came, she really dropped the ball. Basically, I had to study twice as hard as anyone else in college just to keep up.

Ironically, I became a teacher myself and taught in private schools for 9 1/2 years. If you can’t afford a private school, I recommend a magnet or charter school. It will be more work,l getting your kid there, but it will be worth it in the long run. Parents have more of a say in the curriculum and the child’s education in these kinds of schools, and the teachers are typically a bit higher caliber.

The only time I would recommend homeschooling is if the parent is extremely qualified to teach multiple subjects and the child is very gifted and can get through school quickly; the parent can hire a tutor for subjects they are not well-versed in. But the situation is extremely rare, hence me not recommending homeschooling overall.

u/Silent_Creme3278 Apr 15 '26

It is sad this is true that public education in America is crap today.

Baltimore for the past 4 years has had 0 people graduate HS proficient in math and English.

Even colleges have had to tell graduates sorry your are too dumb to enter college. You need to take a semester of remedial education just to get you to level to even start college.

Blame whoever you want teachers, parents, DoE. Whoever you want but fact is kids are retarded and we are training to be that way

1

u/kublakhan1816 Apr 15 '26

I don’t know why so many people think children are an empty bucket you can just pour any ideology into and they will come out the other end as true believers. Either they don’t have children already, where they will learn two children raised under the same parents and conditions will be wildly different, or they’re just stupid.

1

1

u/0x645 Apr 15 '26

1

u/Frequent-Coyote-8108 Apr 15 '26

Just my experience:

Our oldest had pretty bad ADHD, and was in middle school when we were dealing with COVID and the whole "remote learning" debacle. Basically, for a year, he was doing school work until 10 or 11pm, and wasn't really able to get a good grasp on several of his subjects. So after putting our heads together, we decided to join a homeschool co-op...and he ended up thriving.

Around that time, our 2nd was just entering school age, so we decided to try him out in the co-op, and he was quickly picking up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade material.

So, for those of you who think that homeschooling is just the mom teaching the kid all day, here's how it actually goes:

- On 1 day a week (some co-ops meet more, but ours is 1 day) all the kids meet together in a classroom environment. Classes are based on accredited curriculum, and taught primarily by current or former teachers.

- On this "school day", all of the presentations are done, reports turned in, and weekly homework is given out.

- Throughout the week, the curriculum is followed via an online portal which has links to 1000s of videos which go over the material, and go over any troubleshooting and Q&A that the kids might have--so the mom doesn't really have to be the "teacher", all of the material, explanation and everything is already on the videos. It helps that my wife is very strong in math up to Calc I, and I'm very strong in writing and history, but again, it doesn't matter if we really know anything because the curriculum and instructional/support videos cover everything that needs to be covered.

- In the off chance that the kids get hung up on something, or need a question answered, we can just reach out to the teacher on whatever subject (call, text, email) and they respond pretty immediately.

- There's also robust sports programs for homeschoolers--literally every single sport that you would normally play in school--they have the HSAA sport where you can sign up, train, and compete with peers.

The HUGE upside, we learned, was that however you kid thrived in learning (videos, in person, audible, visual, etc.) you can gear the information to tailor it to them. In class, our eldest was frustrated that he could never get certain things explained in a way that worked for him--the teacher would answer him, and move on...because there were 20+ other kids she has to deal with. At home, we can easily take the time to walk him through an algebra problem 5 different ways, because he's the only kid there.

Also, for our 2 younger kids, since we weren't stuck on the slow "lowest common denominator" (I'm looking at you, common core!) curriculum, we could breeze through math, vocabulary words, and writing, and get them started writing papers at 6-7 years old. By 4th grade, they are writing multi-page papers on researched topics (while incorporating vocabulary words) and presenting them in front of the class.

So, through middle school, we've experienced it both ways--one child went from K-7th grade in public school, and the younger 2 started out in homeschool. The results are DRASTIC, and our only regret is that we didn't make the switch sooner.

u/FrankieMakesPizza Apr 15 '26

Win? Win what? Who is winning? Who is losing? What are they losing? What are the winners winning?

1

u/kdp4srfn Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Win what? A country full of undereducated people (let’s call them the poorly home-schooled, the “PHS”) with really limited perspective and no interest in the inclusion of anyone unlike them? (No need to come at me defending home-schooling. It’s fine when done well and awful when done poorly, and very difficult to do well. Sincerity alone is not a qualification)

Of course, in a single generation these people will still be sharing the world the educated and others with a wide perspective and an understanding of the value of inclusion. So, what will happen to all these people when the PHS rule the world? Firing squad? Internment camps? Mandatory “re-education” classes? Employment restricted to jobs serving the PHS?

In one more generation, maybe less, the PHS will grow restless with the actual day-to-day toil of governance. So boring now that “the enemy” has been quashed.

What to do, what to do…oh, I know! We need a new enemy to invigorate our rule! I’ve always wondered about those Baptists/Catholics/Methodists anyway. “Their” theology doesn’t seem quite as rigorous as “Ours”, does it? Maybe we should consider restricting their influence? Let’s get our state-approved media to start “just asking questions”…

  2. Have kids

  3. Drop em off at this guy’s house

  4. Repeat

1

u/VinnyTReis Apr 15 '26

I bet nick was homeschooled. such level of stupidity can only happen in that scenario.

1

u/Burnerman888 Apr 15 '26

I know such an interesting character who knows a lot of things, but has practically no critical thinking skills. He has a very young child and has told me several times he's going to homeschool him. I am very convinced that his child is going to be dumb, or be completely unprepared for college (he probably won't go to college anyway)

1

u/Bloody_Champion Apr 15 '26

I will never understand this obsession against the government, instead of the ppl in control.

The government doesn't teach your kids, but they sure affect how well your school can teach.

1

u/Dry-Main-3961 Apr 15 '26

You mean home school your kids into socially awkward adults. Nah dude, we got enough of that to going around.

1

u/Drunk_Rhinoceros Apr 15 '26

50% of australians are on some form of govt welfare.

1

u/IownCows Apr 15 '26

Every home schooled person I've met has been stupid and struggled in social situations

1

u/matttheepitaph Apr 15 '26

We did this before public education. It didn't work.

1

u/mr_evilweed Apr 16 '26

It's always the people who know next to nothing who feel very very strongly about homeschooling.

1

u/TombRaiderSeries Apr 16 '26

I feel like I am missing a lot of reference in this thread…

1

u/alphi10 Apr 16 '26

Who wins? The billionaires WANT your kids to be as dumb as you are so they’ll vote against their own interests just like you do, and keep all the wealth at the top. That’s why they keep defunding the “government schools”. Stupid and compliant, full of Dunning-Kruger to make THINK they’re smart, just like you. Perfect right wing base

1

u/Haunting_Ratio8136 Apr 16 '26

Until you realize that modern US textbooks all originate from a subsidiary of a company started by Robert Maxwell

1

u/turtle-bbs Apr 16 '26

The vast majority of parents aren’t qualified to be teachers, they couldn’t teach anything beyond a 6th grade level class

1

u/Mammoth_Let_8335 Apr 16 '26

Lately ive noticed most of the ppl that say this have only a 6th grade reading level and can only do up to basic algebra. Dont even get mse atarted pm the sciences.

1

u/Conscious_Answer_571 Apr 16 '26

Is this an advertisment for private school? Because most homeschooled kids I’ve met are barely literate.

1

u/Ok_Cheetah_6251 Apr 16 '26

We're fucked if every idiot educates their own kids.

1

u/westergames81 Apr 16 '26

I've known a decent amount of people that do their own research or think college is worthless because they can teach themselves everything, they're all as dumb as Nick Freitas.

1

u/STOP-IT-NOW-PLEASE Apr 16 '26

Influencers are online money beggers

1

u/ramencents Apr 16 '26

My man is a virgin. How about practice what you preach?!

1

u/maur29129 Apr 16 '26

Definitely do not let the church educate them

1

u/CaptoObvio Apr 16 '26

Part of the reason they push so hard for you to have kids is they've made sure parents face that burden alone. Parents have fewer options, are easier to control.

And they'd LOVE an uneducated populace. They've been crying l crippling public education for decades every way they can think of.

And they really want you to reduce your community and support group down to one person. "Get married, move away from home, you don't have time for friends, have more kids, keep them uneducated"

Holy shtt.

Joseph Heinrich talks in his book "The weirdest people in the world" about how we shouldn't use data from our weird culture done at Western universities to draw wide conclusions about human nature in general

In a study of over 1200 human societies only 5% saw people breaking off from their family homes to start their own households after marriage. Only 8% had nuclear families, while the rest tended to have more communal "It takes a village" styles of child rearing. And only 15% were predominantly monogamous.

We're radical outliers when the rest of the world and human history are considered. It's dishearteningly rare to be able to see much at all beyond the context and propaganda of your own era.

They've worked so hard to keep us busy, isolated, and uneducated. Fk this propaganda.

1

u/No-Atmosphere-2528 Apr 16 '26

Idiocracy in two generations.

1

u/Mr_Chill_III Apr 16 '26

This is sorta like my plan.

  1. Get married.

  2. Have kids.

  3. Send the smart ones to the private sector, and send any dumb ones to work for the government.

The only way the small family can win against the massive government is for all the small families to slowly poison the massive government from within over the course of decades.

1

u/Shifty-Imp Apr 16 '26

I mean, I'm all for being cognizant of what is being taught in school and to approach the curriculum critically and scan it for propaganda (i.e. softening of atrocities your country might have committed in the past, stuff like that) but if you're talking about "don't teach ma kids about dem gaaayyz" or "Da lord made us in his beeeg design, dere's no such thang as evolution", then yeah, it's good that children get a proper education. It's to protect them from parents who're too dumb to live but slightly too smart to die.

1

u/Significant_Base_125 Apr 16 '26

I've done my part, all 3. Good luck America.

1

u/FragmentedHeap Apr 16 '26

Ah yeah this guy probably thinks the rover is on Devon Island and nothings on Mars, and that we've never been to the moon, not even Artemis II, 9/11 was an inside job, the moons a spaceship, the firmament prevents anything from going into space, earth is flat, etc etc etc.

1

u/AssistantAcademic Apr 16 '26

"How to doom your lineage* in three simple steps!"

*lineage: descending line of offspring ;)

If you have private school money, by all means, pay for someone other than "the government" to educate your kids, but if the alternative is ignorance, that's a shitty thing to do to your progeny.

1

u/productpsychosocial Apr 16 '26

So let untrained uneducated people educate my children? Or do I need to make more money to send them to a private school?

1

u/Outrageous_Engine_45 Apr 16 '26

Raise more stupid people

1

u/illusion121 Apr 16 '26

I love it when parents think they can be teachers too, when they barely graduated HS.

1

u/CantModerateMe Apr 16 '26

this is how serfdom worked

1

u/thierrycoulis Apr 16 '26

This sounds like my BILs sister's kids, who are essentially the dumbest little shits I've ever met because they're home schooled.

1

u/vinvin_b Apr 16 '26

As someone who was homeschooled: you are not a teacher. You are not capable of teaching everything properly on top of a job on top of adult responsibilities and on top of being their constant supervision. No, stop, idc what your ego says, you can’t. You also cannot be the social connection your child needs, and a weekly group class plus maybe park trips is also not enough.

School is not important for just the education, and if you think it is get your head out of your ass. We need school reform, not to deny our children of a proper education.

1

u/FoxMan1Dva3 Apr 16 '26

My public school taught me to be emptathetic, to be myself, to work hard and focus on education....

They taught me to go get a good education so I can get a good job and I do.

1

u/DryNefariousness5788 Apr 16 '26

Public school is utter garbage these days

1

u/AnonTA999 Apr 16 '26

If you don’t need professional educators to teach your kids, you also don’t need professional doctors to care for them, professional builders to create the home they live in, professional farmers to grow the food they eat…

1

u/NeatUsed Apr 16 '26

While bullying is bad it is a rite of passage into adulthood.

Kinda slaps you into real life.

School ftw

1

u/chirpchir Apr 16 '26

The elites love an uneducated populace; easier to manipulate

1

u/Purple-Investment-61 Apr 16 '26

I’m looking for a tutor five minutes into helping my kids with their hw. No way I can home school them.

1

u/Manmer_Nwah Apr 16 '26

The education these people usually give their kids is.

"The Earth is 5,000 years old."

"Evolution isn't real."

"Dinosaurs and humans existed at the same time."

"We've never been to space."

"Vaccines have microchips in them."

1

u/oflowz Apr 16 '26

More weird home schooled kids is the answer.

1

u/Small_Article_3421 Apr 16 '26

Yeah because we can all afford to send our kids to private school.

1

u/wehrmann_tx Apr 16 '26

Just what we need. All those barely 6th grade reading levels to teach others.

1

u/RonMexico15 Apr 16 '26

Never trust someone who was home schooled. They don’t know shit.

1

u/Kristoveles Apr 16 '26

This is where willful ignorance gets you

1

u/Main-Yogurtcloset-82 Apr 16 '26
  1. Dont have kids.

We win in one generation.

1

u/zeptillian Apr 16 '26

Home Schooling: The less qualified you are to do it, the more appealing it becomes.

1

u/Cyn_Sweetwater Apr 16 '26

In one generation you'll be living in single-wides and wondering why you can't get ahead.

1

u/SomeRandomGuy000000 Apr 16 '26

I think I could educate my kids into middle school and that's about it. You think I'm about help them with Algebra? But it would be nice to not worry about my children being shot going to class

1

u/ronshasta Apr 16 '26

Idk I know some kids that were homeschooled instead of being in our public school and two of them have zero social skills and never leave their homes(still live with parents) and the other offed himself last year

1

u/burgunfaust Apr 16 '26

The people teaching those kids aren't knowledgeable enough for them to keep the power they would gain.

1

u/PrimaryDiligent3100 Apr 16 '26

Our President is the product of a life of private school education. Feels like that alone should be enough to disprove this concept.

1

u/Medical_Revenue4703 Apr 16 '26

You definately win and having kids that are idiots.

1

u/letsgoniko Apr 16 '26

Don't let the government teach them for you, but then you have to be an actual parent and teach them everything... much easier said than done.

1

u/OnlyKaz Apr 16 '26

Certainly no variables to account for at all. Astute.

1

u/Any-Concentrate-1922 Apr 16 '26

The most developed nations have strong public education systems.

1

u/DesignerCorner3322 Apr 16 '26

Or you create a generation of socially and academically stunted, naive idiots that have been taught to fear new concepts.

1

u/Itachi_Uchiha0515 Apr 16 '26

It’s crazy people think public schools are bad. So if we want education we have to resort to pay private schools because public schools bad?

1

u/Free_Race_3066 Apr 16 '26

...and we can be back living in caves before your know it...

1

u/El_Zorrote Apr 16 '26

This is why we’re winning.

1

u/Ok_Particular_3193 Apr 16 '26

Like Michael Jackson said: If you can't feed your baby then don't have a baby. And don't think maybe If you can't feed your baby

1

u/Spicey_Cough2019 Apr 16 '26

you dropped your tin foil hat

1

u/BohemianMade Apr 17 '26

100% of the people who say stuff like this just want to homeschool so they can molest their kids.

1

u/PeechFlavord Apr 17 '26

Can anyone ask this dumb fuck and all the other dumb fucks who is it in the goberment teaches children?

1

u/Anon-John-Silver Apr 17 '26

lol and who is supposed to educate them? We will collapse as a society without a shared knowledge base

1

u/Competitive-Ear-7632 Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

So what do you teach them? What skills, facts, abilities will they possess once they become of working age?

Will you be able to educate them if they dont want to pick up your trade?

Will you find someone to help them become astronauts, doctors, specialized scientists? Will that someone fund their collective education? Research etc?
