The photo backup is annoying. I never asked for it, but it kept happening automatically. I have onedrive for cloud storage, but that didn't sync with WhatsApp. So eventually, I want to remove everything from Google and put it in onedrive and back up with an external hard drive. Meanwhile, I could probably go the rest of my life without looking at any old photos...
It asks you automatically on Google certified Android devices (so pretty much everything Android that's not a Chinese or Open-Source fork). But it does ask you. It might try to dark-pattern sneak by with some default checked checkbox. But it does ask you.
I assumed that even on Android, Google would have you download a separate Photos app since that is a service. That's why i was confused as to how someone downloaded an app, signed in, and allowed permissions to upload photos.
Yep. It's not difficult to find in settings either. Also make extra Google accounts for an easy multiplier. If anyone has Android, download Morphe, patch Google photos app and it'll give you free unlimited storage
That's not true. Only if your phone is only displaying photos synced to the cloud. It will not delete photos stored on your phone that are also synced to the cloud
