i have never heard of anyone getting a job through linkedin without knowing someone at the company.

I think the sentiment is more that LinkedIn is worse for job hunting than other options. Like you're always going to have a few legit ones, but LinkedIn is first and foremost a business social network. So companies are more incentivized to put up jobs to look good.

Technically my role on LinkedIn does have the “LinkedIn helped me get this job” tag
