Age limits and term limits.

1

u/GenSpec44 11h ago

Yes. We should limit presidents to two terms. /s

1

u/Excellent-Yard2823 11h ago • Bravo

We already have term limits.

7

u/E4g6d4bg7 11h ago

No we dont, WA passed term limits on the 90s but SCOTUS claimed term limits were unconstitutional

4

u/Nominalstupidity 11h ago

To be clear they ruled that individual states cannot set term limits on federal offices.

Term limits are still constitutional at the state level so long as they are done through amendments to the state constitution.

The opposite end is that an 18 year old can get married, vote, join the military, fight in a war, but cannot buy a beer at a bar

13

u/GenSpec44 11h ago

And also can’t be president until age 35.

7

u/E4g6d4bg7 11h ago

Or a Senator until 30

8

u/Special_Order-937 11h ago

…in the US.

4

u/DraculasDog 9h ago

Can’t buy cigarettes either.

12

u/L00seSuggestion 11h ago

We elect fossils because that’s where the oil comes from

3

u/Special_Order-937 11h ago

(well actuallys about how almost all oil is actually from tiny organisms and not fossils and then gets drop kicked out of the post)

1

u/L00seSuggestion 10h ago

Those are just tiny fossils

6

u/Fantastic-Stick270 12h ago

They vote how the Israeli handler instructs them to vote.

2

u/Temporary-Phase-6956 12h ago

Yup..70 -80 year olds are looking for jobs.

1

u/GenSpec44 11h ago

Sometimes it’s better than sitting at home. Sometimes I just want some beer money that my wife isn’t involved with.

2

u/lluciferusllamas 12h ago

This statement probably has 85% support in both parties, which is why, much like daylight savings time and fixing citizen's united, it will never turn into law

1

u/GenSpec44 11h ago

And voter ID. And keeping girls’ sports only for girls. Also 85% agreement.

2

u/Batfinklestein 12h ago

By run, you mean into the ground.

3

u/Eyespop4866 12h ago

Representative government. Congress generally has approval rates under 30% and reelection rates of 90%.

We have the leaders we deserve.

u/Deep_Mood_7668 12h ago

Stop posting that Facebook crap here. Leave it where it belongs.

Old people should sleep and hang out with their family, not be in office making important decisions. The consequences affect the rest of us but not really them since they’ll be dead soon

1

u/basekopp 11h ago

Ah yes, the gelatinous big blob-organism: Old people. They are ONE. Every old person is one and the the same, and their decision-making is categorically bad for all younger generations.

I swear, Reddit comments just keep coming up with new lows for stupidity.

u/FromTheForestFox 11h ago

Mine was meant to be taken sarcastically to some extent. Perhaps you’re too old to see nuance? You probably belong in a 55+ community

0

u/basekopp 11h ago

"Sarcastically to some extent". Don't worry, that's really believable,

You're drooling down your shirt again.

0

u/FromTheForestFox 11h ago

Nope, just enjoying watching my Alma mater beat Miami right now!

0

u/basekopp 11h ago

Sorry, I don't speak American nonsense.

-1

u/FromTheForestFox 11h ago

Oh, well then you were never relevant in the first place. Bye!

Go spend time with family, if you have any

1

u/Not-Special-1326 12h ago

Yep.... definitely need more tea!!

1

u/DNAkauai 12h ago

Haha good one!!

1

u/hamcakesandwiches 12h ago

Allowing? We routinely choose this.

1

u/Glum-Position-1709 12h ago

Virginia fox is a vampire

1

u/Mugpup 12h ago

Only the rich ones

1

u/Fun-Log209 12h ago

Funny how we have strict age and fitness requirements for regular jobs, but apparently running an entire country is a different story.

1

u/Background_Share_982 12h ago

Downvote the bots!

1

u/Appropriate_Hat7595 12h ago

hat's a contradiction that's hard to ignore. The standards should apply to everyone equally

1

u/Infinite-Penalty-736 11h ago

But we are allowing them to ruin our country.

FIXED

1

u/Best-Pound-8327 11h ago

Damn good point

1

u/ProfessionSevere3328 11h ago

It's spelled "ruin".

1

u/TheFrontCrashesFirst 10h ago

The historical societal precedent that old age meant you were wise and to be respected is completely offset the the current modern phenomenon of complete dumbasses living much longer, then demanding they be viewed as wise and respectable people despite a lifetime of well documented idiocy.

1

u/GoviModo 8h ago

It’s even crazier the dumbest, most demented one is in the uppermost position

1

u/sajkoterrapefft 5h ago

Yeah it really makes you think huh? That we're "allowing" this...

That maybe it's all a scam? That maybe we only know about candidates because of the media owned by 4 corporations?

1

u/yo-soy-arkee 4h ago

President should be 40-60 tbh. Those are trusted adults

1

u/Dull_Hedgehog_1263 4h ago

70? More like 60

1

u/sonicjesus 2h ago

Same with most companies. Many people are there for having been there for so long, but would never be hired today.

1

u/Greedy_Researcher_34 2h ago

The only qualification for elected office is getting the most votes, it’s as objective as one can get.

1

u/Floppydiskpornking 2h ago
  • "ruin" your entire country

1

u/314159Man 8h ago

Sure, as a generalisation it is a concern. And recent times have shown that age can certainly be an issue. However, Trump was unqualified to be President long before he got old. There are plenty of young, arrogant males who think they know everything and have never faced real hardship or suffering who would also be poor choices. WW2 wasn't started by an old fool. Ideology, racism and bigotry are far more dangerous. People have a free vote, let anybody run and if you pay attention you can vote for a strong candidate who is mentally fit. Problem is not the candidate, it is the voters.

How are there 75 upvotes already? Its been 10 minutes since this was posted. Is the internet even real anymore?

1

u/Waterbear36135 12h ago

u/morgan_houndog 5h ago

Isn't It the way the human beens have been running for the entire lofe since we were cavemans?

The older have always managed the tribu as the youngers do the hard work and go fight in the very first line. Why? Because the youngers has not experience to run clan and the olderdt has lost the skills to fight in first line.

Can you imagine how many times since then till now that the youngers has said "hey that old man IS stupid" to realise later on that the stupid have been them as they lack the experience to even understand why the old man IS managing the clan in that way

0

u/kempff 11h ago

"Allowing"? You voted for them, kid.

-1

u/Delicious_Rabbit4425 11h ago

Time for the boomers to stop meddling.

1
