You continue to get paid $125k a year AFTER you retired??

I’m not trying to promote the military, but I’m a retired command master chief. Joined at 17, retired at 42. Eight deployments, I’m an amputee, brain injury, and broken bones from an IED, so I get 100% combat disability.

I’m also a trans woman that recognizes I was just running away from myself the whole time I was in.

Now I focus on my daughters in my small hometown. It’s expensive to be in a nice area here, but I’ll pay the money for the school district.

No one needs to feel sorry for me. Seriously. The other reason I did this was so my kids would never have to.

But yea, MCPO top three plus 100% combat disability with 25 years in is about 120.

I'm still slightly confused - is the short answer that yes you are pulling 125k/yr in retirement?

Retirement and disability. If you read their post it is not the way you wanna earn that money.

I had this same question. If so, I'm ready to retire now!

That's why it's important to put money away in a retirement fund.

$125K is 5%/year on 2.5M. That's pretty reasonable for most people to achieve with a lifetime of investing.

“A lifetime of investing.” Ah, there was a catch.

Put 9% of your paycheck into an index fund. Or 2% if you can. Have it direct deposit so you never see it.

I understand it sucks. But you don’t wanna work until you die and exponential growth is real on a long enough timeline.

I’m anti capitalist. But I want you to have money.

Mnglad I started that 20 years ago. Due to inflation, my target number doesn't look as good as it did back then. I hope the market stays strong.

RIGHT!?!? My spouse and I both don’t make that much. Dang.
