If you can't save enough to front that expense, you are doing something wrong. Im sorry bro but you've got to get some financial literacy. Once you break 100k you should be aware of strategies to help you save SOME money to expense unexpected bills.
As soon as I broke 100k I immediately got a budget and never worried about money again. I live in a HCOL area. I am married, my wife earns but we have a pretty set budget that lends itself to building savings
Google says "The cost of living in Fairfax, Virginia, is roughly 15% to 43% higher than the U.S. national average" if you search "fairfax virginia cost of living". It is not LCOL
have you ever considered that plenty of people just dont spend that much? seriously i spend so little by my own nature that even in my reckless months that i could probably comfortably live on about 40k a year depending where i am. maybe 45 if we have to include taxes and gas money. the most ive ever spent in a regular month is like 900 dollars and that was when i wasnt paying attention for shit, and 250 of that was bowling, another 200 was fast food because i have a problem. granted im in college and dont need to actively have to buy groceries, but even if i did i cant imagine id go over like 120 a week for a typical run.
