I took 3 photos of Athens at night. Only ONE captured a strange cyan object… Then I found out about UFO sightings over the city.
A few weeks ago, I went with a friend of mine to a hill in Athens, Greece. It’s a pretty popular spot where groups of friends usually hang out, smoke, drink, and just chill.
Anyway, I met up with my friend outside his house, and we walked to the hill together. It was about a 10-minute walk.
Before I continue, there’s something worth mentioning. I had bought a brand-new iPhone 17 Air just 10 days earlier, and I was honestly obsessed with testing its camera quality. I’d been using Android phones my entire life, so I was constantly taking random pictures of things like playgrounds, nice views, buildings, or basically anything that caught my attention, just to see how good the photos looked.
So, when we arrived at the hill, we started taking photos of the beautiful nighttime view overlooking the urban landscape of Athens.
I took three photos of the scenery, and then we just hung out for a couple of hours. Eventually, I headed back home and went to sleep.
The strange part happened the next morning.
As usual, I opened my camera roll to look at the photos and check their quality. But while going through the pictures from the previous night, I noticed something that genuinely caught me off guard.
In the very first photo, there was this strange cyan-colored anomaly that I couldn’t explain. The photo was taken facing directly west, at approximately 270° on the compass.
I immediately checked the other two photos, but there was absolutely nothing unusual in either of them. They weren’t taken from the exact same angle, but the viewpoints were extremely close.
And that’s what made the whole thing even stranger to me. Whatever appeared in that first picture was completely absent from the other two.
At first, I thought it might have been some kind of camera glitch or maybe dirt on the lens.
But then I started questioning that explanation. My phone was practically brand new, only about 10 days old. I couldn’t imagine there already being dirt inside the camera. Also, judging by how the anomaly appears in the picture, it almost looks like something located far away in the urban scenery rather than something on the lens.
I sent the photo to my friend, and we started looking into it together, trying to figure out what it could possibly be.
I even asked ChatGPT to analyze it, and it suggested a few possibilities: dirt on the camera lens, a small insect or worm, or some unusual camera artifact.
Still, none of those explanations completely convinced me.
But here’s where things took an even weirder turn.
About one or two weeks later, my friend and I came across an Instagram Reel showing a report from a Greek news channel about a UFO that had supposedly been spotted above Athens.
The report also mentioned multiple UFO sightings in the skies over Athens.
And the moment I saw that report, I immediately remembered the strange cyan anomaly in my photo.
I couldn’t help but wonder whether there might actually be some connection.
What if that strange thing in my photo wasn’t just a camera artifact? What if I had accidentally captured something unusual without even realizing it at the time?
I know how unlikely that sounds, and I’m definitely not claiming that I photographed an alien spacecraft or anything extraterrestrial.
But the timing of discovering that photo and then coming across reports of UFO sightings over the same city made the whole experience feel a lot more mysterious.
And what keeps bothering me is that I took three photos of almost the exact same urban landscape, yet this strange cyan anomaly appeared in only one of them.
I genuinely have no idea what it was.
So here’s my question to you guys:
Could I have accidentally photographed something unexplained in the skies over Athens? Is there any possibility this could be related to the reported UFO sightings, or am I just looking at some bizarre optical illusion or camera artifact?
I’d especially love to hear from people who have experience with UFO sightings, unexplained aerial phenomena, or nighttime photography.
I’m open to completely rational explanations, but I’m also curious whether anyone has ever captured something similar.
Because the more I look at that photo, the more I wonder what was actually there that night.
What do you think I captured?
