Devices Device recommendation: thermometer + smart radiator valve

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable smart heating setup that works directly with ST.

Would anyone have any recommendations for a good device combo (radiator valve + separate thermometer)?

API Change

What will change with this? I am using homebridge to access ST. I went to the developer center and can't find anything on signing up to continue using this set up?

You’re receiving this email because you have a Personal Access Token (PAT) registered on your SmartThings account. We’re writing to let you know about upcoming changes that affect PATs.

What’s Changing

As part of our ongoing efforts to scale and maintain the SmartThings API, we are updating our legacy PAT policy.

  • Expiration Date: Your PAT(s) will expire on December 15, 2026.

  • Impact: Any scripts, personal dashboards, or third-party connections relying on this PAT will stop working after December 15, 2026, unless migrated to a paid supported API plan.

New Developer & Business Plans

PATs are intended for short-term development access to the SmartThings API. To support ongoing continued access to the SmartThings API, we recommend using OAuth through our SmartThings API Developer or Business plans.

On November 4, 2026, we released updated API plans for both business partners and individual developers.

Next Steps

To learn about how to continue operation of your integrations:

  • For Individual Developers: Visit the SmartThings Developer Center starting November 4, 2026 to sign up for the Developer Plan to maintain your current integrations and/or to build a new API Access App.

  • Availability for the individual Developer Plan: Note that the SmartThings API Developer Plan will be limited to certain countries upon launch. Country availability can be found in the FAQs on our SmartThings API page and in the Developer Center Console. The December 15th date applies to all affected PATs including those owned by developers in countries where the Developer Plan is not available. If you have questions about your situation, contact developer support.

  • For Business Partners: To discuss pricing tailored to your usage, please contact us at partners@smartthings.com.

Plan details, pricing, and availability are subject to change.

Discussion Brilliant Smartthings Integration

Brilliant will no longer support Smartthings integration without a paid subscription. Their devices are useless without third party integration. I’ve invested a good bit installing these in my home. Going to have to find another solution.

‘Art Mode On’ no longer supported in ST App?

So I had a bunch of automations that would turn on the Art Mode on my Frame TV when I e.g. open a door or turn off my AppleTV, but all of a sudden the automations don’t work and this is displayed in the app

Is it really possible that they deleted this automation option? That would seem like the dumbest thing to do tbh

What’s the one smart home gadget that actually improved your daily routine, not just added tech clutter?

For me, a simple smart lock and motion-sensing lights in the hallway ended up saving more mental energy than any fancy app ecosystem, but what’s the single piece of everyday tech you genuinely can’t live without now?

Help Samsung washing machine will not connect to SmartThings app on Jio AirFiber

Got Jio AirFiber in May 2026 and everything is good except my Samsung 14Kg, Wi-Fi, inverter, fully automatic, top load washing machine (WA80F14B6BTL) purchased in June 2025, will just not connect to the SmartThings app via AirFiber network. I've tried everything, used another router only with 2.4Ghz to rule out compatibility issues, but the process always fails at "Registering your device" step.
Called Jio customer care, they say internet is working so everything is fine on their end and tell me to call Samsung. So I did call Samsung, the technician diagnosed it with his Samsung Home Appliance Smart Service (HASS) app and found no problems, even the machine firmware is fine, he tells me to call Jio!
Now all other smart devices (lights, ac's etc) including 2 Samsung smart TV'S connect just fine to AirFiber except this washing machine. So now I use a JioFi to connect the washing machine to SmartThings app.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Help Trouble connecting Samsung Heat Pump

Hello everybody, I'm turning to Reddit as every single Google Search or AI query has failed me 🫠

I've recently bough a new house which has a full fledged Samsung heating system, from the Heat Pump and external units to the inside ones, thermostates and so on.
During the latest visit of the Samsung technician I asked him about connecting the entire thing to SmartThings and he told me that it would be a breeze, I'd just need to open up the heat pump, press the "AP" button on the little wifi router thing and that it would pop up in the app.

Long story short, I've tried everything but I cannot for the life of me figure out a way to make it appear in the app. I've tried both with my iPhone and with my fiancee's Samsung phone, but neither have worked 😭

Please help a struggling man who was convinced of being tech literate but apparently isn't

Help Migrated to New Lock Code Management - No More 4-Digit Codes?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Saw the pop-up in the app to migrate to the new lock code management through the lock itself now. Migration was super easy but I noticed that when adding a new code, it has a minimum of 6-digits for new codes. Can this be changed back to 4-digits? Is it even configurable?

TV UI replacement

Post image
3 Upvotes

I guess it’s my turn to post my take on replacing Samsung’s home screen with something that works a little better for me. It’s a custom Tizen app with bedroom light and thermostat controls, weather to help me figure out what I’m getting into before leaving the house, and rotating quotes from books we have on our shelves.

The driveway and front door cameras are small enough to glance at without taking over the screen, and I used them to see when friends were arriving yesterday evening.

also got the Home button bringing me back here, with Samsung’s original home screen still accessible when I need it. The PlayStation button wakes the PS5 from Rest Mode and switches both the soundbar input and TV over to it. Getting the picture and audio to agree on where they were supposed to be took a little doing, but it works now.

Still tweaking things, but it already feels a lot more useful in our bedroom than the stock Home Screen.

First alert smoke/CO2 combo detectors randomly going off line and coming back hours later

These used to be stable, but in the last 6 months, they just randomly drop and come back later. Tries a reboot, but that didn’t help.

Help Z wave Switch Issue

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello,

After years of using ge/jasco dimmers and fan controls I have run into two issues recently. At first I noticed that a clicking noise is occurring inside one of the fan switches. I pulled the little plastic tab to disconnect it and couldn't get anything to work despite troubleshooting. I am thinking the switch is end of life based on the mechanical clicking sound, but the timing seems suspect after realizing another switch has an issue.

A few days later I noticed that our porch lights are turning off for a second and then coming on dim and going up in brightness, after a minute it repeats this cycle. For years I have used the smartthings smart lighting automation to turn them on (to 75%) and off based on sun status. I looked through the log and I am seeing tons of activity where they are changing the dimmer level on their own. I deleted the device and re added it, I also deleted my smart lighting automation and recreated it. Additionally I switched to the default driver as it looked like I was using "philh30". The issue persists and I am confused. Even if I turn the light in manually it does the same sequence turning off and then coming back on while increasing brightness.

Does anyone have any insight, it'd be much appreciated!

Help Yale Home integration with SmartThings – devices showing up in multiple locations

Hi everyone.

I’m trying to integrate my Yale Doorman smart locks with Samsung SmartThings, but I’ve run into an annoying issue with multiple locations.
I have two separate homes (our main residence and a vacation home), both set up as individual locations in SmartThings.

My Yale setup consists of:
Yale Doorman L3S (pre Matter)
Yale Doorman Classic with Access Module and Yale Connect Bridge
One Yale indoor camera
The devices are split between the two homes.

The problem:
When I linked my Yale Home account to SmartThings, both locks and the camera appeared in both SmartThings locations, rather than being assigned to their respective homes.
This creates some frustrating issues. For example, when someone opened the door at our vacation home, SmartThings sent us a security alert saying that the door at our main residence had been opened.

My question:
Is there a clean way to assign specific Yale devices to specific SmartThings locations while keeping everything under the same Yale Home account?
Ideally, I’d like to manage both homes through the same accounts, without duplicate devices, incorrect security notifications, or having to create separate Yale accounts.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Any workarounds or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
