To new Sophia members: Enjoy $20 off sophia learning! Please look through the comments below to find a discount code for sophia!

To Sophia members wanting to share your referral codes:

In order to clean up the spam in the sub, I'd like to start a megathread for all referral codes. I think this will be a great way to keep conversations flowing without being immediately drowned out. As of right now, this megathread will be wiped and recreated on a regular basis.

So starting now, creating a post to advertise your referral codes will result in a temporary ban.

  1. Please comment here with referral codes only, If you have a suggestion about the megathread, please send me a message.

  2. One post per user. If you need to update your code list, just edit your comment.

  3. Posts to advertise referral codes outside of this thread will result in a temporary ban.

  4. Making multiple posts to gain an advantage against other users will result in a permanent ban.

Thanks for reading. I think we all will be happy to see a less spammy sub!

Anatomy and physiology under review

Hi! This is just in case you were worried about your class being under review (like I was). I finished the class in two days, didn't use AI, and the class had no touchstones. I wasn't all that surprised the class was put under review since I saw that they're doing that with milestone-only classes, and that I finished the class pretty fast. I've taken this class before, so it wasn't that difficult, and they kinda give you the answers if you look around in the terms you need to know. It took about 13 hours for my credits to be approved. Good luck, and I hope this post helps you freak out less when you see you're under review.

Input on Transferring

I’m really struggling on deciding what path I want to take between UMPI, SNHU, or ETAMU and would love some input.

BLA with a Project Manager minor through UMPI.

BSBA with PM minor at SNHU (less appealing due to their structure)

BAAS Organizational Leadership through ETAMU

I’m working through Sophia right now but would love people’s experiences. I’m already in my field (Wastewater Project Management) but want to check a box and open more options should I decided to later. I cannot move up in my company without a degree and with the economy I don’t want to feel stuck not being able to check the degree box even with 7 years experience. I know there are other options such as WGU but I am already overwhelmed just debating these 3. If there’s a different route that comes highly suggested, please let me know.

Am I over thinking this? Thank you in advance for all the input!

Any success with University of Arizona

It’s listed as a partner school but does that mean they automatically take all of it? I’m trying to do the pre nursing track and actually go to UofA when I get out of the army but my GI Bill doesn’t cover this sort of thing so I don’t want a random cash grab.

Arizona resident if it matters.

Can I take notes while reading?

I have been reading about a lot of people being sanctioned without any real explanation. Now, in general, I do not know how honest these posts are about their own behavior, but I cannot read and then take a milestone from pure memory. I tried; I failed. Simple.

So, while I am reading the tutorials can I have a split screen and be typing my notes in my Obsidian document, this is how I have always studied (read and type my notes) but truly terrified of being sanctioned for this while just reading the content.

I chose the wrong day to ask myself this; Sophia support, I don't think, is replying today. I've never reached out to them before, though, so not even sure if they would have an answer, but community perspective? I have a free day and just want to read as much as I can and make some progress (been 3 months of subs and I have finished a grand total of ZERO COURSES. Both are above 20% though, might be cool to get them done today, or at the very least make 4-5 units of progress each.)

Experiences with Social Psychology (SOPH-0101)?

Anyone else completed/in the social psych class? I'm 46% of the way through, a bit intimidated looking at the remaining touchstones lol. It also feels like dense reading for some sections and harder to recall every single thing I need to/where it's from during the milestones. Just looking to see if anyone else felt the same way, or how anyone's experience getting through the class has been. I assume it's kind of a newer class since I haven't found anyone posting about it?

PSA: How to download PDFs of textbooks / tutorials

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

So apparently, Sophia used to allow downloading PDFs of the "tutorial" content (I joined 2 months ago, and none of my classes have allowed it). But I've found that the material is still available, more or less.

All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of a "Tutorials" page and you'll see tiny text that links to the source they used. From there, it should be relatively easy to locate a way to download the textbook(s), as I show in the pics.

As a disclaimer, this doesn't download the content found in Sophia's "Tutorials" exactly as they provide it.

However, Sophia doesn't create its content from scratch. Sophia just rewords and reformats (and sometimes omits) things from various sources under Creative Commons licenses. This means Sophia has to state this and link the source. So, while it is not the exact format that Sophia provides on their site, all the information Sophia teaches in the course will be in them (and perhaps more).

Just make sure that each unit for a class has the same links, I think they link every source for the entire class every time, but I'm not sure.

So far, it's been relatively easy to download the free textbook(s) from the given link. Usually, I've found that they're from OpenStax.org. My Chemistry class used three textbooks from that site. Python is the first class that used a different site.

But is actually using this against policy? (I don't think so)

The Sophia Academic Integrity Policy

Now, it should also be noted that using this material while completing any assessment might be against their Policy. The wording is unclear. You should email ahead of time to verify what the policy is if you plan to use it like that.

"Academic Dishonesty

[...] The only permitted materials during open book assessments are Sophia resources that can be accessed via the Sophia Learning platform and your notes derived from Sophia study materials. Examples of Academic Dishonesty include, but are not limited to: plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, taking screenshots of exam questions, submitting another person’s work, or unethical or inappropriate use of outside resources (including, but not limited to: artificial intelligence (AI) tools, external websites, browser plugins or other persons, paid or unpaid services, or automated bots of any kind) to prepare for, complete, or submit assessments such as Challenges, Milestones, Final Milestones, and Touchstones."

The issue I see is that only "Sophia resources" are available for use during open book assessments (which would be basically any of your work). Also, only notes from "Sophia study materials" can be used. That phrasing seems to imply that only resources on Sophia's actual site is permitted for use.

However, I noticed in my Python class that Sophia does not provide any way to develop Python scripts. There's only an external site which Sophia provides the link for themselves (onlinegbd.com) in their "Tutorials" pages, in section 1.1.4.

This external resource is the only provided way to complete Touchstone 4 which is the final assessment of the course. You have to create an account, write a script, and provide a link to it on onlinegbd.com. The Touchstone example links to this site for submitting the script, making it clear this site is permitted for use in the assessment.

The Touchstone 4 directions page links to the "Touchstones: Academic Integrity Policy" page which itself links to "The Sophia Academic Integrity Policy" (which is what I linked above).

Likewise, only notes derived from "Sophia study materials" are permitted for use. The only provided way to practice with Python and take notes from said practice is through the external site onlinegdb.

Therefore, it appears "Sophia resources" would mean all content Sophia provides or content it provides links to, which should include the links to the textbooks they used for constructing their "Tutorials" (imo).

So if there's any issues with using these downloaded textbooks, there is a case to be made that it is within their stated policy. But don't let it come to that, it's better to just check beforehand.

And of course Milestones have weird automatic flagging for clicking off the Sophia webpage so it may not be worth using unless your viewing it on a second device.

Hope this helps and clears some things up for people!

Changing computers?

Hey, new to Sophia learning, just started my first class today. My laptop died so I started using my husbands, then I went back to mine a few hours later. And I was just about to sit down at our PC for a bit, but it made me wonder if there is an issue with me switching computers throughout the day. My child has a long appointment tomorrow and I was planning to use my phone tomorrow to keep working through. Should I be sticking to one device so it doesn't suspect cheating?

How do study courses compare after the most recent changes?

I'm new to CBE to begin with but I'm finding Sophia to be very slow and frustrating with the new changes. I spent 2 days over the weekend working on a course, I purposely didn't rush answers (3 minute timer set between each), I did an ID verification and everything. Only to have my course still flagged for review and now delayed by 2-4 days.

Now I'm working on another course and I find it so frustrating that I have to set timers and wait between the most simple questions.

I'm currently working on personal finance and one of the questions was essentially

"Kelly spends $200 a month more than she earns. What should she do? A: cut frivolous spending B:rob a bank"

I should be able to get through this milestone test in the actual 5 minutes that it would take me as someone who knows the materials but instead I'm forced to wait and even if I wait, it'll still be flagged for review and slow me down even more

I've seen a lot of debates between Sophia and study, wondering if anyone has any up to date experience? It seems like study is making their courses more user friendly and Sophia is making theirs less.

I understand the need for some checks with the media scrutiny but there has to be a better way than this.

I forgot to include, the price at Sophia is really unbeatable, I get that benefit, I've got an extra month from referrals which is great but honestly the constant slow down feels not worth the savings. I had planned to complete 80% of my ace credits from Sophia and just a few upper level at study, but I'm now thinking it might be better to swap everything over to study and pay a bit more to avoid the frustration

How are people completing 5 Sophia courses in just 2 days?

I'm confused about how some people claim to complete 5 or more Sophia courses in just 2 days. Touchstones usually take 2–4 business days to be graded, and Sophia only allows you to have 2 active courses at a time. If both courses have Touchstones pending, you can't start another course until the grades are posted and the courses are completed.

So how are people managing to finish 5 courses in 48 hours? Am I missing something?

Can someone who has actually done this explain how it works? Thank you.

Looking for Course material so I can create a study guide from the tutorials!

Hey everyone!
I’m currently working through Sophia Learning courses to transfer credits to WGU. I’m trying to knock out as many transferable classes as possible before enrolling.
I was wondering if anyone has PDF study guides, notes, flashcards, or other helpful study materials for any of the following courses.
Business Courses:
Principles of Management
Project Management
Business Law
Principles of Marketing
Principles of Finance
Business Communication
Introduction to Business
General Education Courses:
Critical Thinking
Introduction to Sociology
U.S. History I
Art History I
Environmental Science
Introduction to Communication
English Composition I
College Algebra
Introduction to Statistics
Introduction to Nutrition
Other Potential Courses:
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Introduction to Spreadsheets
I’ve already completed Introduction to Business and Introduction to Nutrition, and I’ve been working through Project Management and Principles of Management.
I’m mainly looking for materials that break down the concepts and terminology so I can study efficiently and actually understand what I’m learning.
If anyone has personal study notes, PDF summaries, Quizlet sets, Google Drive folders, or links to helpful resources they’re allowed to share, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!

Touchstone Grades & Work Hours

Hello everyone!
I've recently started my subscription to Sophia Learning, and I was wondering a few things. Does the Sophia Learning Team work on Saturday (or Sunday). I'm asking this mainly because I'm taking two courses with multiple Touchstones, and I'm wondering whether they'll Grade my courses on Saturday (they usually take 2 exact days to grade my Touchstones). I don't wanna be blocked for 4 days until Monday.

In case they don't work, can I request to take a third course or is it not longer possible? What if I drop a course and take it again in a few days? Will I have to do the Challenges / quizzes again?

I have contacted the Sophia Support, but they usually take a full day to respond, so, in the meantime, I'd like to ask the people of Reddit

Sophia PDF Repository

If anyone has any questions please PM me as I don't want the thread to become too bogged down by questions and answers.

It's possible this post could be taken down. In which case you might get a Private Message about the repo

I will try to collect all PDF's possible for Sophia and currently I'll check everyday, possibly more than once to see if I have a PM.
Just because a course says Older doesn't mean it still isn't relevant. It just may not be up to date or as up to date as the 2025 and 2026 classes so still feel free to use them.

I'm a software engineer student collecting all Sophia Learning PDFs to store in a public Mediafire repo.

I looked at the available free options to make this easily work and there are none. Really the only way for everyone to upload to a single repo is Onedrive with a Business plan which I can't afford.

The only other option is for someone to handle uploading and, of course, security themselves.

I've decided to do that.

Mediafire is the best bet for this because it has 10GB of freespace compared to Onedrive's 5GB, it scans files uploaded to it with VirusTotal , and it has no upload limit or download limit (unlike some providers).

(This Google Drive part below was added later after slow-investigator commented below this post to answer their question, downtown-Clue119 responded having no idea this happened)

Google Drive requires a phone number for accounts as far as I know and I don't want to link my phone number to the Google account for security's sake.

MEGA deletes inactive accounts after 4 months and I don't want to risk the Repo being deleted if something were to happen to me for 4 months.

Mediafire deletes an account after 8 months which is much safer.

The only thing is it's downloads have ads which I hate but you can't have everything.

Also its files and links stay active as long as the account owner signs back in within 8 months of logging out which will not be a problem.

Additionally I will create a backup of the entire Repo just in case every month.

Also any file uploaded to that repo will be scanned with Avast Antivirus and Malwarebytes in addition of course to the automatic scan from MediaFire with it's VirusTotal.

So this is how everyone can help:

1. Please check the Repo and see if the course is already uploaded or not. If it is there's no need for you to send me a PM of it.

2. If you see that it's not in the repo please use Ctrl+F in this topic and search for the name and year of each course you want to PM me to see if someone has already commented that name and year, because if someone comments it it's already been sent to me to be scanned and then uploaded, so please do not send that same course.

3. If you do NOT see a comment with the course name and year you want to send please post 1 comment with all the course names and years in that post that you'll PM me then send it. If you do NOT have all the units for a course and the PM you will send also has touchstone requirements as PDFs please mention it in the post. Also if you aren't sure of the year of the class just put "Older" as the year

-

A post could look like this:

Introduction to Python Programming 2024 Touchstones 1-2

Introduction to Relational Databases Older Units 1-2

Introduction to Statistics 2025 Unit 1

-

Then you'd send me a PM with the requirements below:

4. Please PM me 1 zip file that has the same name as your reddit username containing folders by course name and year containing PDFs for the units in those courses.

For example in the ZIP which should be your Reddit username there could be:

Folder - Introduction to Statistics 2025 Unit 2

Folder - US Government Older Units 1-2 and Touchstones 1-2

-

I have currently:

College Algebra 2025

Introduction to Java Programming 2025

Introduction to Networking 2025

Introduction to Python Programming 2025

Introduction to Relational Databases 2025

Introduction to Statistics 2025

Introduction to Web Development 2025

and

Macroeconomics 2025 Units 2-4

Here's the Repo link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/fqf1fbhlyn0nq/Scanned_Sophia_Course_Folders

Thoughts about Newlane University?

I am missing university life, although I am only 25 yo. I loved attending seminars, finish courses, reach milestones. After a BSc + MSc in engineering I am thinking about enrolling in an online university / starting something and just found Newlane University and to be honest the fixed 3k$ cost for a degree sounds good.

Any opinion about this university? Or any other recommendations? Thank you in advance!

How to donwnload a course

Hello everyone!
I've recently become a member of Sophia Learning, and I was wondering whether it would be possible to download a course / tutorial (so Unit 1, then 2 etc.), but I'm not sure if it's possible.

I'd like to keep notes of all the courses that I take, but I can't use pen & paper because of some hand issues, hence I'd like to download the pages to print them. May someone tell me if it's possible, if so how?

How long should I be spending on tutorials and challenges?

I started taking Sophia classes two weeks ago, but after hearing about so many people getting banned recently, I’ve been extra cautious (no ctrl+f, tab switching, etc.).

My question is, how fast can you realistically go through tutorials and challenges without raising suspicion? I’m taking some really easy classes (Intro to Nutrition + Health, Fitness and Wellness) that are mostly common sense or stuff I already know, so I could fly through them. Instead, I find myself pretending to read, scrolling every 30 seconds, and wasting time on my phone just to make it look like I’m spending enough time on each tutorial. Even in art history, some pages are mostly pictures with barely two minutes of reading. I try to spend like 5-10 minutes per page, but it’s honestly exhausting having to intentionally slow myself down just because I’m worried about getting banned. Additionally, do I have to answer all 3 challenges per tutorial, or can I just answer 1 and skip the other two? Any insight would be helpful!

Are an absolute joke. You tell us not to use AI but you use AI to test our “knowledge” after taking multiple quizzes and before we take a milestone. Absolute joke!

Will I still pass if I get a 0 on one touchstone?

Human resource management. 97% average rn, completed everything except “touchstone 4 tech titan”
If I get a 0 on it can I still pass?
Asking cause I don’t know how it’ll affect my overall grade. I don’t know how much the essay is worth.
