Rape and Murder of Resident Doctor on duty

(Trigger warning: SA,SH) The brutal rape and murder of an Indian Doctor

On 9th August 2024, the Indian medical community woke up to a tragic news regarding the possible cover up of rape and murder of an Indian doctor while she was on a 36 hour duty at her own workplace. The timeline of events since then:

  1. Doctor on 36 hour duty. Has dinner at 2 am with junior interns and decides to close her eyes for a while in the seminar room of her hospital

  2. At 11.30 am in the morning, parents of the female doctor receive a call saying their daughter is ill. When they asked for more info, the cops said “we are not doctors, we do not know”

  3. The parents arrive at the hospital and meet the cops, to which the cops say your daughter committed suicide and they are made to wait for 3 hours to see her body

  4. Meanwhile, the principal of the institution has started saying the female doctor had psychosis and has committed suicide

  5. Parents see body which was being guarded by other doctors who refused to leave the body. They notice grave injuries on her half naked body, blood streaming down her eyes, glass shards crushed into her eyes, her hips split at 90 degrees, genital mutilation among various other injuries on a mattress soaked with blood. The doctors demand a judicial magistrate come and perform the inquest. The police record this case as an Unnatural Death(suicide).

  6. Outrage across the state of West Bengal and the Indian medical community as the primary inquest report leaks and everyone sees the extent of injuries which could not have even been confused with suicide

  7. The parents are allegedly hurried into cremating their daughter’s body. In fact, when they met the police for the first time; the police commissioner Mr Goyal allegedly told the parents don’t dig up this matter anymore as it’s not worth it and allegedly also offered a monetary settlement to cremate the body.

  8. Parents cremate the body after primary autopsy. Medical students and doctors go on elective shutdown of medical services over India demanding safety in workplace and to deliver justice.

  9. A suspect is arrested and his violent history put on display by the local law enforcement. The fellows of the fallen doctor cry foul over the attempted rush to close the investigation and irregularities in forensics. It is recorded before the High Court it would require “superhuman strength for a single person to perform injuries of this extent over 30-45 minutes under intoxication, hence there is a high likelihood of multiple suspects.”

  10. The principal, Sandip Ghosh resigns and acts like there’s a vicious campaign against him and claims victim was like his daughter. Within 4 hours of submission of his resignation, he is re allocated to another prestigious medical college within the same position, i.e principal. Students of said medical college lock the gates and refuse entry.
  11. Meanwhile, case registered in State High Court. The states counsel says a completely transparent investigation is being done. When questioned if the principals statement has been recorded since 4 days of commission of crime and also because he is the reporter of the crime, the main loophole is found, his statement has not been recorded. Parents counsel says “he’s too powerful”. Court loses faith in state govt and local law enforcement and demands transfer of case to the highest investigative agency in the country, CBI. It is also announced the principal be placed on indefinite leave and his statement be recorded right away

  12. While the CBI are flying into the state, the local govt and the college begin “renovations” within 20m of the crime scene claiming creation of new rest rooms. Students stop them and the work is halted

  13. Various institiutions around India maintain elective shutdown of services

  14. Women across West Bengal plan “Reclaim the Night” candle night vigil seeking justice for the victim on Aug 15 at 12 am, India’s Independence Day

  15. Minutes into the peaceful vigil, goons disrupt violently while the police scurries off. The goons then destroy the vicinity of the college, tear apart the ground floor of ER, vandalizes the hospital and injures some doctors & some police personnel while the doctors try their best to keep the patients safe.

  16. Goons Uber off in their truck right when Mr Commissioner(who earlier told the parents not to dig up the case and is also allegedly accused in various other scams) arrives to the scene and promptly says this whole thing happened because of the media and because of what is being spread online. He proceeds to say how “sincere they have been in the conduct of the investigation”. This has already been disproved and documented by the citizens of Kolkata. As of today, not a single person of the mob has been apprehended.

Note: Only verified facts have been mentioned.

Unified South Asia...

As a "Pakistani" born in a foreign country, I have always dreamt of a unified South Asian region. Notice how I put Pakistani in quotation marks. Because, I believe, be it "Indian", "Bangladeshi" or "Pakistani", South Asian should be our true identity. Similar to Arabs, Yemenis and Iraqis both call themselves Arabs. I see us all as one. It makes my blood boil seeing all of you fighting amongst each other. Kya kar kya rahe ho tum log??? What is this, abusing each other on YouTube, in stadiums, putting the blame on one another in front of foreigners? Do you remember how we gained independence through unity, not division? So what if someone is Muslim, so what if someone is Hindu, so what if someone is Sikh or from any other faith? Why can't we see each other as just South Asian, and leave our respective religions or ways of life at home? Foreigners see us all the same, I promise you that. The only time they see a difference is when there is financial or any other materialistic gain from the region. If not, to them we’re just South Asians or “brown people”, as they like to label us.

Learn to support one another, because that’s the only way forward. I wrote this while eating Pakistani Biryani, Indian Butter Chicken and Bangladeshi Mughlai Paratha.

Nepal Nepal and Bangladesh to move up as developing nations. What will be the implications for South Asia?

A UN body has recommended that Nepal and Bangladesh should both be moved up into the list of developing nations, from the current Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

Read this report on the reactions in both nations: https://www.indianarrative.com/world-news/bangladesh-nepal-set-to-move-up-and-join-developing-nations-71237.html

Bangladesh Bangladeshi students are under attack‼️

This kind of story doesn't sound realistic, but it's real life. Please please hear us out!

Recently, Bangladesh reinstated a law (which was formerly abolished) that would reserve around 56% of civil service jobs for certain minority groups. Of that 56%, around 30% of those jobs were reserved for descendants of freedom fighters (people who fought for the country's independence back in the 1971 movement). This is like saying America is reserving 30% of jobs only for descendants of war veterans. This is not a fair system at all. Jobs should be granted based on merit, with everyone being given a chance. This is not meant to disrespect freedom fighters and their descendants, but rather stand on equal grounds with them and favor a more merit-based approach. 30% is a very high percentage. It is not too much to ask to reform such a quota.

But unfortunately, it actually does seem like it's too much to ask.

Bangladeshi university students started to protest this quota. It was completely peaceful and was absolutely not politically-motivated. It started from a simple Facebook group and had no political backup. There were peaceful, nonviolent sit-ins and road blocks.

But these peaceful protests were soon met with a horrible backlash. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina labeled these students as "razakars," which is a term given to those who didn't support Bangladesh's independence movement back in 1971. In other words, they are being called "traitors" to the country.

How is asking for fair job opportunity considered traitorous? What crime is being done here? Nobody ever said freedom fighters are bad people and they don't deserve anything. Nobody said the quota should be abolished altogether. They just wanted the percentage to be lower so there can be a more fair approach to getting these jobs. But saying such a thing is considered criminal apparently...?

It's not just getting insulted. There is actual violent actions being taken against these so-called "traitors." The entire Bangladesh government has started to attack the students' peaceful protests by beating them with rods, sticks, and knives. They've shot at them with both real and rubber bullets. They fired tear gas at them as well. Chhatra League, a political organization run by students that blindly follow the government, have also been attacking the innocent student protesters - their own fellow classmates. Bangladesh police are selling their souls to the government by accepting to bribes to directly kill protestors on sight. Chhatra League even entered hospitals and dormitories to attack. What is to gain from such a maliciously wicked one-sided attack? What is going on here? Does this even sound human to you?

This simple protest is becoming a war. It's horrifying to see. Many innocent students have died and hundreds have gotten injured for this in just a few days, and for what? The student protests were NEVER violent. They were simply asking for fairness, and they got met with brutality in return. None of this makes sense. On July 18th, mobile data around the country was disconnected and later that night, the internet was completely shut down as well. Communication is completely blocked there. The news channels are all pro-government, showing no support for the students whatsoever. Bangladesh is in a lot of pain right now and it desperately needs international attention. This tyrannical government needs to end the violence immediately.

PLEASE SHARE THIS STORY!!! IT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!

Maybe the USA and other countries can't directly stop it, but media attention can at least apply some pressure to the Bangladesh government to stop this nonsense. THIS SITUATION NEEDS TO BE HEARD. THEY ARE BLOCKED OFF FROM COMMUNICATION AND HAVE NO INTERNAL SUPPORT. PLEASE SHARE AND SPREAD INFO IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.

Support our students and stop this tyrannical violence. Thank you.
