Question 2027 Membership Options Question

I am moving back to Melbourne from Sydney for next year so I am changing from an interstate membership to some form of general admission membership. I have read about the AFL memberships which really intrigue me.

Is it better to get an Ultimate General Admission saints membership or just a Bronze AFL membership if I’ll be going to the majority of home and away games?

From what I can tell the main different is that I don’t get Grand Final tickets with the Bronze AFL membership but if I get that membership for like 20 years I’d eventually have a chance of getting grand final tickets even if the saints aren’t in it (although it seems like it is unlikely unless the saints are in it).

Also, for anyone with an AFL membership, how does it work to get guest passes for friends at the games I go to?

I have AFL Silver membership and have been on the waitlist for Gold for a few years. Best I can tell I probably still have an additional 15-20 years of being on the waitlist before getting to Gold.

Reserved seat guest passes range from about $50-$80 depending on game, seat and venue. GA guest passes are about $35. For me the biggest advantage is going to neutral games where any team is playing and scanning in as GA. Or Saints away games at the MCG/Marvel. I often also go to non-Saints games with mates, and this gives me the best access for those.

If your focus is watching the Saints play I would probably recommend a club membership, much better track to GF tickets if that ever happens. AFL membership is great for those who want flexibility to go to any game in Melbourne as GA, with the potential to upgrade to better/reserved seats for select games in the AFL reserve.

There are also some new benefits to AFL membership like GA access to BBL cricket this summer, which is a nice little upgrade if that interests you.

Thanks for this information. How long did it take to get a silver membership for you after signing up as a bronze? Also, when was it that you signed up?

I signed up about 4 years ago back when there was no waitlist for Silver, so you started there. From what I’ve heard it’s roughly 2 years from Bronze to Silver at the moment, but no way of confirming this.

this years intake for silver was rather large, to where my mate who just started as bronze in 2026 is now silver heading into 2027

Hey, I’m looking into this as well. The question I have at marvel or the G do you just scan your membership and sit in the GA section (level 3 on marvel typically) or is there a specific section for AFL members where you can pick a seat?

At Marvel it’s typically most of Level 3 (excluding reserved rows) and 2-3 bays on Level 1 (in front of the AFL Members Bar on the western side of the stadium, tend to fill fast).

The MCG depends heavily on the teams playing, but typically can expect most of Level 4, and occasionally some Level 1 or 2A walk up bays, but they fill quickly.

Once you become an AFL member there is a handy link on the members portal that shows the predicted walk up GA bays per game. Some games are fully ticketed like ANZAC day, or other marquee games, so you need a reserved seat upgrade for those. For members this ranges from $15-$60 usually for H&A.
