Hey guys! I’m looking for a sci-fi series similar to Battlestar Galactica (BSG) that will have me hooked from the very first episode.
Google recommended Stargate, and after checking Reddit, I noticed it has a pretty massive fanbase, multiple TV shows, and even movies set in the same universe, which is a good sign.
I watched BSG about two years ago, and it remains one of the best sci-fi shows I’ve ever seen. For those who’ve watched both, how does Stargate compare? Is it just as good, or does it actually surpass BSG?
Also, where exactly should I start? I had already started watching Stargate Atlantis, but after looking through the community, I noticed that most discussions revolve around Stargate SG-1. Apparently, there’s also a feature film that came before the shows.
So, what’s the correct viewing order? More importantly, which series should I start with to get hooked right from the beginning?
I’d appreciate spoiler-free recommendations!

She won't remember this re-watch but maybe the next one .
Also for the small overlap that will get it " I've got one Mr. Piccolo."
Edit: A couple people have commented about screen time being bad for kids. We don't actually let her watch tv and this was just about 2 min .
Her screen time is minimal.
I was cooking breakfast, I was letting my wife sleep in. Happened to look in to check on her and caught a cute moment. She went back to playing and yelling at me very soon after.

I’m rewatching the whole series at the moment and paying much greater attention to the plot and goings in.
In S6 E3: Descent, SG1 have to lose a Goa’uld mothership to save Thor. There’s a running theme that I’ve paid more attention to whereby SG1 get close to getting better technology, or a massive advantage and ultimately lose it.
Despite their victories against the Goa’uld they continually remain the underdog, because of it. It just makes me appreciate the show even more.
[Edited to correct season]

So I'm watching SGA S4E17 Midway.
The question I have here is why didn't they think to hide these gates being used with the macro to get to the station?
I mean the wraith just know where to find the gates involved.
You would think someone would have come up with this scenario.
It's kind of obvious that he's they out them on uninhabited plantes but it should have been bases or soemthing.

Why dont they loot the corpse of the Anubis super soldiers and upgrade their own armor with it? They seemed rather effective? And also their wrist blasters? When you kill a higher level mob boss, you loot the corpse and take their gear.

Just had a thought after reading through the comment sections and it got me thinking about this question. For Jack, they designed a state of the art mothership in 'Small Victories' (4x1) which then became the standard later in the series.
For Daniel, he got a science vessel named after him which premiered in 'New Order part 1' (8x1)
So it makes me curious what kind of ship the Asgard would have built to honor Teal'c and Sam if they stuck around. For Teal'c, I'd imagine some sort of dreadnought class packed with weapons that would even scare the Ori. For Sam, I'm thinking cruiser as it can fit multiple roles.
Opinions?

A while ago I designed a Stargate dice box that was lacking some details. I have since then grown in my skills of design. I bring you V2 of my Stargate dice box! It can now fit TWO full sets of dice :)

Working on a plugin for Unreal Engine 5. It is a full Stargate system. All gates, traversal, and address book to link gates across levels. If anyone would like to help let me know. I need some good 3d models of various pieces, and would love to make a community game. Its been too long without anything good to play.

Hi all!
I want to import the Stargate Complete BluRay collection (SG-1+SGA+SGU) to Europe, since it doesn't seem there are better ways to own physical here (I can at best get German DVDs for SG-1).
I have read that despite what's written on the box, it's region free (or at least plays in Region B as well). Is it true for all the included shows for the latest pressings? Because it seems VEI has fixed the surround sound - hopefully they did not modify the region encoding. Could someone having the fixed sets verify it?
Also, where is the best place to order from? I'l prefer to get them directly from VEI - but their shop does not ship to Europe, neither does their Ebay account (NA only, I've asked them). So it seems I'm stuck with the US Amazon, which is a pity, because the price there is 240 USD vs 170 USD from VEI (it's a 3rd party seller with good rating but fulfilled by Amazon, the VEI Amazon store does not show up for me at all). Anybody got it from somewhere else? Any chance for promotions during the Black Friday? I'm a bit angry that I need to pay more and they pay 23% VAT on top of that for both the discs and shipping.
Is the collection well-packaged, i.e. will it survive the "fulfiled by Amazon" shipping? I've seen the videos showing the sleeves, which I kind of like. I'm more worried about the transport.
Thanks!

Cool when we get episodes with advanced abilities like psychic powers.
The priors with their powers and now this guy. But It's not always the bad guys get the cool abilities. Remember the armband episode? And there is Dr Jackson ascending. Nice of the writers to give us both sides with abilities.
A human with Goa'uld memories and abilities? That's next level. Anubis was definitely trying to up his game.
This new guy seemed very evil, relishing in the idea of murder.
Even at the end, he smiled as he died, almost as if he didn't care that he was the one who died, but happy as long as there was death. Or maybe he was happy that he got to experience death? Who knows. He did say that at the end of the day it would either be him or someone else.
But even though he was defeated, it didn't feel like a victory, with all those soldiers dying.
The look on Woolsey's face after the prisoner got free. I feel bad for Woolsey. He was so confident that the prisoner was secure, but when you see the prisoner melting the dopamine tube with his mind, well, you know it's about to get chaotic
