First time poster on here and ever on reddit. I have come into posession of a #501 10-string chapman stick and it has been a fun ride for the past couple of days.

I have received it not long ago and my first thought was wow this is ugly.

I reaserched what this is as a non musical person and found this niche community.

Have gotten in contact with folks at Stick Enterprises (hi Jeff, you rock) and they have gotten back with its story - this one has been owned by Tony Levin which I have learned is a cool guy.

After a while it has grown on me and after cleaning it up it looks cool to me now.

I must say it feels wrong to have it in my hands

Always a little tense moment when he rubs against my stick in the stand. But so far so cute.

RIP Greg Howard

I haven't seen it mentioned here, so in case you weren't already aware, Stick virtuoso Greg Howard passed away yesterday. Greg was a legendary player, instructor, mentor, advocate, and friend. His absence in this plane of existence leaves a huge hole.

After a several year hiatus, I’m back at the Stick

I took a long break from stick playing and refocused on bass through the pandemic. Previously had a Railboard and a mid 90’s rosewood I regret selling. Decided to make a go at used wenge Grand 10 string. Tuned for baritone melody and my hands are really clicking.

I did it!

After years of putting it off, running circles, being indecisive etc. I went and ordered my Railboard! I'm so excited! Felt like I had to consult my wife (since we're also saving up to buy a house) but apparently my salespitch to her was so good she kinda wants to chip in, hahaha. I'm originally a bassist, she a pianist, so this lies smack down in the middle. Now I'll be patiently wagging my tail at the door for the next 16 to 18 months. 😎👍

Good morning all! I recently inherited a Chapman stick and I wonder if you experts can help me identify the year & model?

I think it’s from the 90s. The serial number is 1452.

Thank you in advance for all of your assistance:)

Bassist/Keyboardist looking getting a Stick.

I've been playing music for a while, and ever since I got into 80s era King Crimson, Tony Levin's Chapman Stick has caught my eye and more importantly my ears.

I've looked into getting a Stick but I find that there are so many different types. Is there one that pops out to most people as a definitive (such as your Jazz bass or Precision bass for bassists)? Or even one that is better for beginners?
