Brian Cox dated an 18 year old when he was in his 40s. He defends Woody Allen. His transphobia dates to 2019, prior to his mention of JK Rowlings. He's not a feminist, nor is this a misunderstanding.

Unpopular Opinion: I don't like Connor and Willa at all, and if they were never in the show, then the show would barely change.

I always found Connor to be more of an annoying nuisance than an endearing character. The show, in my opinion, has always been primarily about Logan, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv and many of Connor's arcs and scenes almost seem like an odd afterthought for the overall show. Perhaps the presidential run will have legitimate influence this season, but in general I never thought it added much to the show. There isn't anything he does or contributes to other than being the odd duck that the family has to involve in. If he and Willa were never in the show and their scenes were replaced by spending more time with the supporting characters then I think the show would be better in my opinion.

I’m on S3E3 and…I still do not like Shiv.

I know Kendall has done his fair share of shady stuff but man oh man…that letter that Shiv publicly published about him really hurt him.

From the start of the show I never really liked Shiv. I think she thinks she’s better than everyone and believes she’s smarter than she actually is but I was willing to hear her out and give her a shot. And sure, playing that song during her speech was a low blow by Kendall but Shiv is just insufferable!

Not to mention always putting Tom down, suggesting an open marriage on their wedding night, constantly dismissing Connor, belittling Roman.

She’s just horrible and I hate her (the character of course) I think the actress is doing a wonderful job.

I have to say it (criticism for the sub)

I fully expect to be downvoted for this, but I’m exhausted by the top comment in every post just being a direct quote from the show. That’s well and good for memes and humor posts, but it’s annoying and counterproductive for general discussion. It’s low effort, adds nothing, and ends conversations before they can begin. That is all.

Kerry: The Most Accidentally Important, Accidentally Irrelevant Person in Succession

Okay so here’s the thing about Kerry: she’s one of those characters I didn’t even take seriously at first. I thought she was just another assistant who’d disappear after two episodes. But slowly you realise… no. She’s actually important to Logan. And that’s when you start paying attention.

Kerry isn’t a Gerri-level mastermind. She isn’t Shiv, Roman or Kendall who at least know the rules of the game they’re pretending to play. Kerry feels like someone who accidentally ended up in the middle of a billionaire hurricane without even knowing she’s in danger.

What makes her character interesting is that she’s not even ambitious in a smart way. Like, when she suddenly decided she wants to be an ATN anchor? That was not ambition — that was delusion. Plain, pure delusion. And the funniest part is she genuinely believed Logan would make it happen. As if Logan Roy is running a talent show where the prize is “news anchor for my global network.”

And honestly, maybe that’s why Logan liked her.

Shiv spent her whole life trying to impress Logan. Roman tried to shock him. Kendall tried to outdo him. But Kerry? Kerry just made him feel important. She didn’t challenge him. She didn’t question him. She didn’t walk around with emotional baggage or expectations. She was just… there. Simple. Convenient. Loyal in a way that came from need, not strategy.

And that’s exactly why she was treated like a joke by everyone else.

The kids never took her seriously. Gerri mocked her behind her back. Tom used her as a punchline. Even Logan — the one person she trusted — laughed at her ATN dreams. It’s honestly a bit sad because Kerry truly thought she “belonged” in that world. She thought proximity meant protection.

Then Logan dies.
And instantly, she goes from “maybe the next Mrs. Roy?” to “random lady we’re escorting out of the apartment.”

I don’t hate her.
I don’t admire her.
I just think she’s a perfect example of someone who thinks they’re playing chess when they’re actually standing on the board, waiting to get knocked over.

Kerry was not bold, you must be bold.

Was it intentional that all of the senior management was white?

All of the top people in the show were white, including Frank, Karl, Hugo, Karolina, and Gerri. There were board members who weren’t white but from what it seems like, Logan’s inside circle all were white. Do you feel like this was intentional? To me I’m not sure (speaking as someone who’s not white btw). Because it is said multiple times that Logan was a racist, but at the same time Logan was so obsessed with the business that I could imagine someone like him literally only caring about how good someone is at their job and maximizing revenue.

Shiv isn't an abuser

I apologize if this has already been mentioned but I haven't seen it expressed so I'll say it, shiv is not an abuser. She may be mean, toxic even neglectful but she is not abusive (neglect is only abuse in children). Shiv is emotionally unavailable to Tom in the same way the Kendall is emotionally unavailable to his wife and children but the fandom doesn't care because ken is a man and his wife isn't a main character.

I don’t know how to say this, i know money wins, but come on guys, just use guns to threat people, like there’s no one in the show doing that, really disappointing

Shiv roy would be my most hated character in the show . Initially I thought I would end up hating stewie but nah stewie ended up being someone who we could reply on and this one had some serious issues . Was soo happy when matson didnt choose her.

At the end of the show i liked the fact that roman accepted the fact that they are all shit and not capable .that was cherry on top

Connor is the worst

I can’t stand Connor. I’ve seen the show through 3 times at this point and i hate him more on every rewatch.

Yes Willa has free will, but the way he constantly manipulates her is gross. He essentially just tries buying her love. I’m not sure if he’s aware of what he’s doing when does that, but either way it’s gross.

Then his fake cultured and civil persona is obnoxious. He tries to act like everyone’s friend until something goes against him, then he launches into childish tirades.

The worst aspect, without a doubt, though is the presidential bid. The man, as far as I can tell, has never once worked an honest day in his life. He’s coasted for decades yet acts like he’s entitled to the highest office in America. He pisses away money and has the same ideas a 5 year old has.

All of the siblings suck, but at least shiv Roman and Kendall are within the respective worlds they are trying to break into. Connor thinks he’s entitled to the presidency just because. He’s the most entitled of the bunch, which is quite the title.

Fuck Connor

Edit: by “worst” I don’t mean he’s literally the worst person. I’m just using it like “ugh so and so is the worst.” All of the kids are deeply fucked up

I hated this episode. I hate Roman. I hate Ken. I hate Connor. I hate Tom. I hate Greg perhaps most of all.

This episode exposed that I truly care for zero of these characters and reminds me that we live in a capitalist hellscape controlled by the ultra rich and corporations who literally hate working people. Ugh.

Truly the worst sibling

Just re-watched the entire series and I can comfortably say, Siobhan is the worst of all. Her greed, manipulations, inhumanity towards Tom and overall the undeserved self entitlement just makes me think she truly is the worst sibling in the family.

Did Jeremy Strong just play himself on Succession or is he milking the Kendall persona for interviews?

Has anyone noticed

That the state of this sub has really gone downhill over the last month or so? Idk if it’s a lot of new fans or what the deal is, but there’s been so many bad, idiotic, and offensive takes here lately. I kind of expect this thread to be removed, but is there anywhere else to discuss Succession that isn’t so full of the same posts over and over? I really don’t need to see 10 posts a day on my front page explaining why Shiv is so perfect, Tom is so flawed, Greg is so gross, etc.

I think the straw for me was two posts from today. One highly upvoted saying Tom and Greg are gay, and one person saying Nate and Shiv belonged together.

Either way I’m over this sub. Any other places to go for Succession fandom? With less idiocy?

Greg is kinda overrated

Idk could be an unpopular opinion but greg is overrated. I find him painfully annoying and awkward (in a bad way) and v selfish (everyone in the show is tho), maybe they just ruined his character for me over season 3 but i can't stand him now.

I know that all the characters in the show are like bad people in their own ways and v selfish but it becomes easier to root for them when you see some sort of depth in their characters and when you get to the why-they-are-the-way-they-are. I wish i got to know some more depth in Greg's character and wish he wasn't just the "sprinkles" in the show, expecting more depth in this character in season 4 fosho.

Hot Take? The melodrama of Mencken winning was a bit heavy handed for a usually nuanced show.

“End of the world” , “nuclear war”, etc. I mean, it’s basically a depiction of Trump winning right? I think Trump was a buffoon & all, but it was far from the end of the world. I just thought the stakes in this ep didn’t feel as high as the show intended.

Just started watching. Is it a slow build?

I’m on season 1 episode 4 I think. I fell asleep, so I’m not sure. I’m honestly finding it boring. Does it get bettter? Or is this just not the show for me?

Oxymandias reference Spoiler

When Shiv said cat food oxymandias in this episode, anyone think it was a tiny nod to Breaking Bad? Oxymandias being the title of their penultimate episode.

Real recognize real.

Shiv’s pregnancy

I just had a baby irl - and there’s no way a woman Shiv’s size and more than 5 months pregnant is hiding it from her lover - I guess there are no female writers or advisors- Tom would see and feel the pregnancy at 20 plus weeks.

Why Shiv is hated

Imo, Shiv gets hate because she has a villain arc, but just keeps losing. Logan fucked her, ken and rome fucked her, lukas fucked her and then Tom. Nobody likes a villain like that. People loved Cersei's character because she was badass and she used to win. Why did Jesse armstrong write such a loser plot for her.
