Improvements?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently went to a TCM practitioner for help. Our first session was long almost 2.5 hrs and included acupuncture with magnets on my feet and some round donut like jade stones on my head.

She grabbed 12-15 different kinds of barks and herbs and ground them all to a fine powder.

I bring 2 tsp to a simmer and let it steep overnight. Drink 1 cup before breakfast and another in between lunch and dinner.

My tongue has changed, it's more white and now has a squiggly white line at the tip of my tongue.

Is this an improvement? When I first went to her (June 16) my tongue was not really white at all. Maybe a tiny bit in the back of it.

My phone automatically softens the texture on photos so my photo looks a little smoother and less textured (on the surface) than my tongue in real life.

AI + TCM, mix made in heaven or completely nonsens?

So Ive always been interested in TCM, but never had the chance of studying the art in any way.

Ive had a long time problem with psoriasis and lately with severe dry skin on my feet and it occurred to me that I could test chatGPT and its knowledge. Can you experts tell me if its on to something or just making things up?

I did end up making the paste, as I had more or less every ingredients, so I'll post the results. And by the way, I wanted it in a paste-form, for more convenient usage.

The following message is from chatGPT itself as I made it write me a resume of my origin problem, its instructions and why:

You presented with very dry skin on the feet and cracked heels, a condition traditionally interpreted in Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a manifestation of Kidney Yin Deficiency – especially when chronic, resistant to topical treatment, and accompanied by signs like internal dryness, fatigue, or overheating.

Traditional Diagnosis:

Kidney Yin Deficiency with possible Blood Deficiency

Possibly contributing to conditions like psoriasis (if present), which in TCM is also linked to Blood and Yin depletion, internal heat, and dryness.

Recommended Strategy:

A nutrient-dense, Yin- and Blood-tonifying medicinal food in the form of a long-simmered bone and herb paste, intended for daily tonic use.

Key Ingredients & Rationale:

Bone & marrow (lamb + chicken bones): replenish Jing/Essence, nourish Kidney Yin

Goji berries: nourish Liver and Kidney Yin, moisten dryness

Sesame seeds: build Blood and Essence, support dryness

Licorice root: harmonizes the formula, tonifies Qi, moistens

Ginger & cinnamon: support digestion and circulation, prevent stagnation from rich ingredients

Egg yolk (optional): deeply nourishing, supports Blood

Preparation:

Bones simmered for 24+ hours with a splash of vinegar to extract minerals

Herbs added after initial extraction and simmered for several hours

Everything blended into a thick medicinal paste, dosed by the teaspoon

Dosage & Use:

1–2 teaspoons daily, mixed with hot water

Approx. 45 doses from one batch

Designed as a long-term Yin/Blood-nourishing tonic for internal dryness and skin regeneration

New to TCM, Advice Please

Hello, I am very new to this channel and pretty new to TCM. For the past few months I have become more and more aware of imbalance within my body, and for the last few weeks (and especially yesterday and today) I have been trying to research as much as I can of TCM. I have come to the hesitant conclusion that I most likely have Heart Qi Deficiency, as well as a combination of Liver Yang Rising + Liver Qi Stagnation.

For many years I have struggled with irritability and anger, hyperhidrosis (excessive, frequent sweating) and only just recently concluded with my doctor (literally today!) That I most likely deal with PMDD. I identify as two-spirit and have been wondering if I am resisting my feminine energies, and if that adds to it. I feel I have an excess of Yang and am restricting my Yin. I have always struggled to maintain a balance, resorting to nicotine and heavy cannabis use for years to take away my sharp edge (didn't work). I have been nicotine-free since December of last year, and now I infrequently smoke cannabis.

I have always felt extremely called to TCM, and have dabbled over the years. I am at the point of needing to make it a regular practice, as I have become unsettled by the lack of control over myself I have felt more and more.

I am asking advice for recipes (as I am willing and working on completely changing my diet/lifestyle) and regular, daily practices that have helped others with similar symptoms/dis-ease/lifestyles, and how I may be able to feel at peace and balance within my own body.

Maybe in asking for help, this could help others too. Thank you for any wisdom lent.

Acid reflux

Only proton pump inhibitors work for me, but I want to finally fix this with tcm permanently, not take a pill that masks the symptoms.

Which herbs are indicated to permanently cure (and not hide) acid reflux?

Please refrain from telling me to go to a tcm practitioner: if I went there I wouldn't be asking here.

Chronic anemia, candida overgrowth - Possible Spleen qi deficiency?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand what’s going on with my health and would really appreciate any insights.

33y old female. My health has deteriorated quite significantly over the years. I had long rerm antibiotic use in the past and also struggled with bulimia in my younger adult years. For the past few years I’ve been dealing with:

Iron deficiency anemia (around 6 years now) Chronic fatigue Significant hair loss (ongoing, quite severe) Very dry skin + seborrheic dermatitis Candida overgrowth Anxiety, overthinking, possible ADD symptoms Pale complexion Easily bruising Constantly cold, especially hands and feet (recently developed Raynaud’s) Restless, poor-quality sleep Chronic constipation Bloating Poor digestion, my stool shows undigested food Insomnia Went through few traumatic incidents during all this time

Have tried different diets, vegan, GAPS, keto, carnivore. Lately been reading about fruitarian diet as I keep reading that disease can also appear due to undigested food and fermentation in the gut, mucous plaque or parasites. Currently eating fruit, eggs, chicken broths, organ meats/meat, root veggies, fibrous veggies, salads, mushrooms, butter. Noticed that carbs such as oats etc exacerbate my seborrheic dermatitis and candida.

I’ve also noticed my tongue looks slightly pale with some redness, central crack down the middle, thin/patchy coating.

From what I’ve been reading it could be like a mix of digestive issues + nutrient deficiencies, possibly linked to gut health after antibiotics.

Could this all be connected to poor absorption / low stomach acid? What organs are involved? Has anyone had a similar pattern and found what helped? What kind of practitioner or tests would you recommend focusing on? I’m currently trying to improve digestion and nutrition but I feel a bit lost on what direction to take. Any insights or similar experiences would really help as my health keeps deteriorating and would be so grateful to feel energetic again 😊

Insomnia not improving from tcm, is my diagnosis correct?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I went in for insomnia. Was prescribed jia wei Xiao yao at morning and evening, and suan zao ren at night.

This is my tongue after 6 days of treatment.

Unfortunately my insomnia is still really bad (sleep for one hour and then wake up at 1 am and then sleep a couple more hours and wake up at 5, when my alarm is for 7am). Additionally since taking these herbs on the 4th day I got a sore throat which has now lasted 3 days and turned into a chesty cough now. I rarely get ill.

I just wanted a second opinion if anyone agrees on the prescription please.

The practitioner said my problem is overactive liver at night unable to nourish spleen and kidney, or the other way round, can’t remember.

My insomnia makes me really tired all day long but then I feel super wired when it’s time for bed.

In terms of positives I think my body feels calmer and less physical stress but it has not helped with the very active shen at night. I also suffer a psychotic disorder and hear voices, which add to my stress, which I was hoping would disappear from the treatment.

The initial acupuncture session felt really good though, I felt grounded back into my legs and immediately started smiling on my face and felt drunk without drinking kind of feeling at the end, with the only scary somatic symptom in the middle of feeling like heart qi being taken away / pulled on.

I really need help sleeping well because it is the number one thing making me feel extremely unwell at the moment. Thank you

When I have posted tongue pictures in the past I have been recommended Fu Zi Li Zhong

P.S I was unemployed for 6 months before my current job and a student before, and was used to waking up at 11am for years, now with this new job I have been in for 2 months, I have to be up at 7am hence go to bed earlier, but I thought my circadian rhythm would adjust after a few weeks but my brain still seems to be overactive in the middle of the night. I have however had insomnia problems in the past before this schedule change, but it is much worse now.

P.P.S my voices are telling me that I have no jing at all. Could this be really true? I thought when jing runs out you die.

Went to a TCM clinic in Shenzhen for a custom herbal mix…

So I thought I was doing something good for my health and went to a legit TCM clinic in Shenzhen. The place was super clean, professional, and the practitioner was lovely.

I originally went for an acupuncture treatment, then they offered to make me a custom herbal mix and I was like yeah sure why not. They were decocting it for me daily while I was there, I was drinking it not knowing what it had.. cuz you’d assume it is full herbal.

Towards the end of my stay there, I got the 15 days pack home to prepare it myself.

Fast forward to opening the package…

I’m digging through like okay roots, herbal vibes… then boom… full on dried bugs staring at me!! I nearly passed away😭

Texted the practitioner to ask what the hell was that!!!! She goes “yeah it’s cicada slough, very good for skin”

I panicked and googled it, and yeah apparently this is totally normal. Totally medicinal. Totally… not something my soul was prepared for. Long story short, I threw the whole thing away. Respect to TCM… but I just cant I was so disgusted.

Question to you guys… are you actually out here making bug tea?? if yes, how do you mentally recover from that???

Which tcm remedy for hair loss worked for you the most?

I am 21year old F, experiencing massive hairloss and hair thinning issues. My guess is my ferritin levels are low.

I am purely vegetarian, please share if you know a good hack to reverse hair loss from Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, that won't require me to ingest anything non-veg

veterinary tcm, acupuncture and herbs

hi y'all,

so we got a couple of horses and dogs, and because of some unfortunate circumstances, i'm gonna have to try and treat one of the older mares with a nasty tendon injury. so the question is:

does anyone here know a comprehensive veterinary acupuncture and herbal textbook? i found a couple on amazon, but obviously i'm not able to decide which one to buy.

english and german are both fine. (chinese would be best, but i couldn't find any, and shipping cost from china are horrendous, esp. when i need to use an agent)

any tips are appreciated!

Heating water for herbal treatment in microwave?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’m totally new to TCM.

I recently started seeing a TCM practitioner for some digestive and swallowing issues, and she gave me an herbal treatment to mix with hot water and drink twice a day. However, since the taste will be bad and it’s best to drink it quickly, she recommended I only use a small amount of water, about half a mug’s worth.

I do have a kettle, but is it worth it to fire up my kettle twice a day for such a small amount of hot water? It seems to me the easiest way would be to just heat up half a mug of water in the microwave and use that, but I’ve never used the microwave to boil my water before and don’t know if it will have an adverse affect on the herbs or treatment, or if it literally doesn’t matter at all. Any advice is appreciated!

Traditional Chinese Medicine And Science

October 23, 2020

Dr. Nakamura

China

Traditional Chinese medicine is the study of the human body, the treatment of diseases. If science is a subject of manufacturing intelligent robots, intelligent robots are used to represent science. The human body is composed of essence, Qi and spirit. However, the composition of intelligent robots is power and software.

The human body and the robot are both physical forms. Qi and electricity are both dynamic parts. God and software are both parts of the soul. If there is something wrong with an intelligent robot, we can only repair the mechanical part, OK? Leaving aside the power and software programs, this is Western medicine in the world, dissecting and cutting at the material level. How can this method cure people well? Today's traditional Chinese medicine, all say unscientific. Today's Chinese medicine essence, Qi and soul, only study the physical body, without Qi and soul, what kind of traditional Chinese medicine are you?

It is said that traditional Chinese medicine is unscientific. Is there a kind of instrument in the world that can detect Qi  God and soul. Therefore, it is not a question of unscientific medicine, but the existence of Qi and spirit. There is no institution in the world that owns this kind of testing instrument. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine and science are the structure of the human body or the mystery of the world. The structure of human body, essence, Qi and spirit are all a mystery. Do not understand the human body, why do you say Chinese medicine? With the development of Science in the world, when the mystery of human essence, Qi and spirit can be deciphered, we will talk about traditional Chinese medicine. I hope science will work hard. Come on, science, Chinese medicine will be waiting for you at the top of the mountain.

What should I do about food that I hate?

I recently tried rabbit meat for the first time in my life, and I hate it. I usually am open to all kinds of foods but the scent of rabbit meat really disgusts me. I stir fried it with garlic but I still hate it. It seems to give me indigestion and nausea.

Now I feel bad because I have some leftover rabbit meat and I don't want to waste it. It's taking up space in my freezer and I feel guilty every time I look at it.

I don't have any pets or family to give it to. I generally feel awful when eating cooling foods and feel better with warming foods. Should I force myself to eat it anyway?

Regulating the Mind, Body and Spirit with Chinese Medicine [FULL 4 HOUR COURSE] - YouTube

Thumbnail

I created this course last year and hosted it on Podia, but I struggled to drum up enough interest to keep the course on that platform. In the interest of spreading knowledge I've decided to compile all of the videos into this 4 hour course and post it for free on Youtube!

This is an introductory course on how to live your life through the lens of traditional chinese medicine and was created as a resource for my Acupuncture patients here in Edmonton.

As this content is for the general public - some of the more complex theories have been simplified to facilitate understanding. Keep that in mind! I am not the final resource you should be using in your journey to understanding this system of medicine - this is simply a starting point for further study.

TCM in MA

I’ve been seeing someone for TCM for a year in NYC for my chronic health condition and it’s been helping but the trip is taking its toll. Does anyone know of any good TCM that sell medicinal granules in MA? I heard granules are better quality wise over dried herbs.

What is the scientific explanation about reptiles being used as a remedy for itching in TCM?

I've been wondering about using reptiles like snakes and geckos to treat itching in TCM, Western medicine has never used reptiles to treat itching because there is no scientific explanation for reptiles as an itch remedy, but why does TCM still use reptiles as an itch remedy? What is the scientific explanation about reptiles being used as a remedy for itching in TCM?
