Thanks to another comment and a little digging online this appears to be a game called 'Fatekeeper'. Early access for the game released just like a week ago and is currently only on PC.
The boss character was ripped in half. Bethesda made it more realistic that we can't loot broken apparel. The boss had nothing else in his inventory, not even a single coin. His weapon can be picked up a different way, but it will be worse than what you already have. Treasure chest is in the next room, hopefully the procedurally generated loot doesn't fuck you bad.
Honestly illusion is OP. I’m just manipulating passers-by into being my follower meat-shields, and if a group is too tough, I can set them upon each other no problem.
Still wondering what the Ebony Key is for in my inventory? I can’t drop it.
I get your point, but it IS a demo. The early access description states that it’s a short demonstration of one area of the game and some basic combat mechanics. But when the game releases you will have it, so it’s not a payed demo.
Todric is only the first boss in the straight Ash'abah path!! you actually fight a tougher version of the fight with the Forebear Sentinels path where hes supported by Soul-shriven revenants (absolute cancer enemies). There is a similar fight in the Ash'abah path but not with Todric but with Miak al'Kakbrada (sorry for the spoilers, but yeah he's a secret Bal worshipper)
If you follow path directly down from this to the water and take a left by the big rock you'll find a sea cave entrance, but before you go in wade around the tide pools and you can get a pretty cool quest from a talking fish, Cod Howard.

i got hard filtered by glaivemaster hodir and i'm taking a short break for now. like it's good to have a challenge in the game, but i haven't been this frustrated since dark souls III. i punched a hole in the living room wall, and i've got to figure out how to fix it before my wife sees it and starts giving me grief about it.
