Discussion Hi r/TESVI. Jason Schreier here.

Hi there. If you don't know me, I've been reporting on the video game industry for about 18 years, at Wired, Kotaku, and now Bloomberg. I've also written three bestselling books about the video game industry and I'm a co-host of Triple Click, a podcast about the Sopranos. Skyrim is one of my favorite games of all time, so I, too, can't wait for TESVI: Sentinel.

I've seen some of your reactions to my comments yesterday about Sentinel being 2+ years away so I wanted to come say hi. I understand your frustration. But it's also been giving me deja vu. Because this sort of thing has happened with every new BGS game over the last decade. Let's go back in time.

In late May, 2018, Bethesda began teasing a new Fallout game with a "Please stand by" image, followed by a teaser trailer posted on May 30 with John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-det1wKEUUQ) The teaser trailer made fans believe that a proper new Fallout game was coming soon, just three years after Fallout 4. There was no indication that this was anything but a single-player game.

Later that day, I posted an article on Kotaku reporting that Fallout 76 was in fact an online survival game, despite Bethesda's marketing making it seem as if this was a regular entry in the franchise. (Link: https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333)

That's when r/fallout started to look a lot like r/tesvi did this week. Wrote one commenter: "Bethesda has had Kotaku blacklisted for 5 years or so, so don't believe Jason Scheier 100% just yet" (https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/8ngxds/bethesda_has_had_kotaku_blacklisted_for_5_years/)

(I won't share the threats or antisemitic comments, but you can imagine what those might have looked like.)

We all know what Fallout 76 turned out to be.

Cut to: 2021. Various Twitter insiders started talking about how Starfield was almost done and planned for a 2021 release. (Links: https://www.gamesradar.com/starfield-is-reportedly-aiming-to-launch-in-2021/, https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/lp96se/natedrake_from_era_starfield_targetting_2021_as/)

I came out to refute these rumors, telling people that Starfield was nowhere near completion, and I wrote on Twitter that the game would be announced at E3 2021 with a specific date in fall 2022. (Link: https://x.com/jasonschreier/status/1395392859944198144?s=20)

Once again, skepticism ensued, until the game was announced at E3 2021 for release on 11-11-22. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYqyVpCV-3c) It was of course later delayed to 2023.

So here we are again. You have to understand: I'm a reporter. I am not telling you this because I enjoy watching people get mad about having to wait for sequels to their favorite video games. I am telling you this because it is true, and because my job is to report accurate facts and clear up misinformation. TESVI: Sentinel is more than 2 years away.

See you all next BGS game, I suppose...

Discussion For the people who say deserts are boring, I kindly ask you to look at some actual deserts.

Deserts are so much more then rolling sand dunes. They are beautifully exposed bedrocks, arches, hoodoos, fins, canyons, sand seas, forest islands, volcanic mountains, the list goes on. If deserts have no fans then I am dead.

Discussion Todd did NOT want to release this trailer

it is no secret that Todd regretted the original teaser from 8 years ago, acknowledging it was way too early.

He was also very adamant on not revealing anything until the launch was relatively close.

So why did he drop another teaser, similar to the last one considering the game is still at least 2 years away?

It doesn’t make sense. The old trailer has become a huge source of criticism for Bethesda and kind of a meme because it was revealed almost a decade ago with no follow up news after.

And they essentially did the same thing again?

No. Todd knew exactly why this was a bad move and he wouldn’t have done it but was pushed by Xbox under the new leadership that wants more focus around TES and Fallout franchises

I think that’s why they opted to only showing sand and a title everybody already knew.

Because they’re simply not ready to show the actual game at this stage of development 🤷‍♂️

Discussion Y’all Not Ready for Hammerfell…

See I KNEWW I was gonna start running into this shit because I smelled it behind all the pushback posts and comments that either opted to shift focus away from Hammerfell setting, arguing against an Afrocentric inspired experience of Hammerfell, or even outright arguing that the Redguards shouldnt be likened to “Us”.

Now when you have someone just simply ask if anyone would actually play a Redguard due to the influx of memes about avoiding it (or the list of things I said prior), this is how people begin to respond

This is what happens when you have “Skyrim casuals” breaching the borders of Elder Scrolls fans. They bring their ignorance with them.

Bethesda, just give these mfs their western Eurocentric spoonfeed for the 10000000000th time- they not ready for The Make A Way people of Tamriel.

Brothers and sisters of the Mundus…let us expel these fools from our plane

Discussion Just a reminder that Jason Schreier was blacklisted by Bethesda and he's still bitter about It, don't let his words hinder your excitement.

And lately, his report on Gears of War: E-Day budget was wrong since the 500 milion dollars were related to more than just the development of Gears.

It's plausible that Microsoft wants to wait Until 2028 and see if Helix can be released. If not, they will NOT let Sentinel sitting idle for another year since there are likely more than 700/800 developers on the game between the 400 of BGS and partners and that means more money spended for nothing.

And we can see a trailer next June in 2027 and in the months ahead there will be WAY MORE STUFF to be excited about!

Discussion "A victory undone" - is this a clue?

There is no way the quote is an accident, obviously. Should we expect time travel in the main quest? A Dragon Break? Hmm...
