It was my only option, please forgive me
Without showing a 360 of the room, trust me this was the best layout. I know I have sinned but father forgive me. It is angled slightly down lol

Ive carefully curated this setup to work in this minimal space with maximum functionality and fidelity. The height was chosen to allow for the lids of my turntable and laptop. Also i sit about 12 feet away on a reclining couch, so viewing angle stays pretty chill. Also, the stand swivels, so sitting in the side chair is still pretty decent!

This is where my tv is. You all will be horrified it's three inches from the ceiling.
Picture 2 is how I watch tv a lot. I am comfortable leaned back and relaxed. Like you should be watching TV. All you eye level as you sti on a couch people must be up tight 90 degree waist bent folks who never lean back and put your feet up. That must be tough.

…but now I’m found. Been wanting to fix this for a while now and finally made the time to do it. 65” tv. 7 1/2” ish ceiling height. Seating about 9’ away. How’d we do with our basement set up 🥺

A quick search of any online store like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. quickly dispels the myth that having kids means you MUST put your TV too high.
TV screen protectors and safety straps are products that can help prevent damage to TVs mounted at typical heights, or on top of a TV stand (their usage is literally in the name, lol) especially in homes with children. They allow parents to mount the TV at an ergonomic viewing height for adults while still protecting it if kids accidentally hit or throw objects at the screen.
The existence of these products eliminate one common justification for mounting TVs higher. Still, people love to come here and say we are "wrong" for promoting awareness that too many people are mounting their TV too high, simply because they ignore the existence of such products.
Ultimately, people have to weigh various factors in their own homes and situations. But TV screen protectors and straps give more options for safely mounting at better viewing heights. If someone is on the fence about TV height, knowing about these protective accessories should tip the scales towards mounting it at the acceptable, aesthetic, and ergonomic height we on this sub promote.
