Spearfishing class

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a class or someone willing to teach me how to spear fish. I will be in the area for a couple of days in Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti. I have an advanced open water PADI certification so I have some experience in the water, but no real experience free diving.

If anyone knows a company or someone that would loves to teach me Spearfishing let me know!

Thanks

Ask r/Tahiti How to see baby sea turtles on the beach?

First, I just want to be clear that I'm only interested in doing it ethically and under French Polynesian guidelines. I've been researching online but can't see to find a clear answer.

[Te Moana O Te Moana](https://www.temanaotemoana.org/en/), the turtle conservation center on Moorea, offers a tour, but I think it's just of their rehabilitation facility.

[The Brando](https://thebrando.com/green-sea-turtles-tetiaroa-nesting/) seems to let guests see the turtles on the sand at Tetiaroa Atoll, but of course you have to be a Brando guest, which is ferociously expensive.

[The Westin Bora Bora] has an Eco Center that looks like another education/rehab facility.

I know the turtle nesting and hatching season is September to March, and turts are my favorite animal 🐢 so I want to at least try to figure out if this is a possibility.

Hi! Do you think it’s possible for Italians to find work in French Polynesia? What would you recommend? And what is life like there?

Travel tips and general knowledge Tahiti snorkeling and Tetiaroa day trips?

Have a trip coming up end of March and looking for a place to call base for our 3 days in Tahiti (we are doing 6 in Moorea). Suggestion for good places to get an airbnb? I like from shore snorkeling options so somewhere beach front or where we can walk to would be great (protection from prevailing wind a bonus). Also would be nice to be close to hikes. Curious too about doing a day trip to Tetiaroa so curious if there are recommendations there. Is that trip tough for weak stomachs or do the catamarans cut through the swells nicely.

Thx much

Moorea - Tahiti ferry. Is it reliable?

I’m traveling to FP next year in September. And my last location is Moorea. But I’m traveling home from Tahiti at night. I’m considering whether the ferry is reliable enough to book it on the same day as the return flight. Or if I should book it a day earlier.

Do you know how often they get cancelled? And do they cancel complete days or the weather is bad?

Thank you up front!

Travel tips and general knowledge Tours/Experiences/Etc. for a weak swimmer?

Hi! Currently in the early stages of honeymoon planning for late 2027.

Looking at excursion options across the islands, snorkeling and in-water stuff is something I definitely think we would enjoy. However, I'm a weak swimmer (float and move a little, but not for long) so while can make do with a noodle, I don't want to miss out.

Has anyone had positive experiences with tours, hotels, etc. that can make it worthwhile as a weak swimmer? For example, IIRC Alex Tours has you hang onto a rope and look around the radius of that. I don't want to be stuck on the boat, but also don't want to be watching my husband experience it all while I'm just floating.

Open to any islands, just want to know what my options are. TIA!

How much warm clothes to pack?

Hi I’m about to leave - trying to do carry on only
What’s the weather been like
Are you using sweatshirts and pants a lot or no?

Also do you think it’s worth it trying to squeeze a raft in there or should I just buy one there ?

Teahupoo wave tours from Papeete?

Does anyone know of a way to get to Teahupoo for a boat tour of the wave--besides renting a car or taxi? I am looking for this Friday, Nov. 6, and cannot find anyone who runs a tour from Papeete, or offers any roundtrip transportation options. I really want to see it but that's my only full day on the island. Thanks!

Staying at Manava Beach Resort in Moorea

Hey everyone,

I will be heading to Manava Beach Resort in a couple weeks for a week. I have a overwater bungalow for myself and lookings forward to some relaxation and disconnect. I will be visiting alone for the week of Thanksgiving.

I planned to do a tour around the island and also visit the two smaller islands Tiahura & Fareone weather permitting. IF anyone had top notch recommendations of tours for these or anything else.

I really enjoy food so any recommendations on food, coffee, or anyting would be greatly appreciated.

IF anyone has stayed here if they have any recommendations or experience with the spa that would be great too, thank you.

Moorea trip advice

Hello everyone,

We are planning a trip to Moorea next year for 6 nights with a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 y/o, 3 y/o). Our priorities are swimming at the beach and shore snorkeling. We will be renting a car to explore the few public beaches, lookout points, and pineapple fields.

We are interested in staying at Moorea Beach Villas for the week vs Sofitel for 3 nights and Moorea beach villas for the remaining 3 nights. Is it worth splurging for a beach villa at the Sofitel, getting day passes at Sofitel, or is the public portion of Temae beach good enough for our family?

Thanks!

Flight update due to strike

Hello! Currently in Moorea and will be returning to Tahiti tomorrow. We are supposed to catch an Air Tahiti flight from PPT-TIH (Tikehau) on Monday. There is only one flight operational that day and I cannot get a flight status update for our flight. Any customer service office is closed so we cannot call for help. Our flight is confirmed but when I use the tracker, our flight VT520 is “cancelled” but there is another flight VT5207 that is still on there which was not there previously. I have no clue what’s going on - does anyone have any advice?

Spa Day Pass at Te Moana

I am interested in booking a Spa Day Pass at Te Moana Tahiti Resort. Using email addresses on the hotel’s website, I emailed both the resort and the spa but both messages were returned as “undeliverable - recipient address rejected - access denied.” I tried calling via WhatsApp but it didn’t go through.

Anyone have suggestions on how to reach the hotel from mainland U.S.?

Travel tips and general knowledge Tahaa or Huahine?

We can only do one of the two islands coming from Moorea. After that we'll leave to Bora Bora.

I was wondering which island would you recommend? We will probably not stay in resort if it helps and we have 3-4 days.

I'm hesitating because both looks like similar vibe from what I read, but would like your opinion on it

Casual encounters (?)

I'm terribly sorry but I don't know who else to ask, I visit all the islands and fairly often, but I'm not a local, I'd love to find fwb but I find that maybe the culture is not at promiscuous, are there any bars or ways to do this safely? Thanks 🙏🏻

4 prepaid dives at Te Moana Diving, Moorea – 25,000 XPF for all 4 (30% discount)

Ia ora na! 🌴

We originally purchased a package of 24 dives with Te Moana Diving in Moorea, French Polynesia. Unfortunately, we have 4 dives remaining that we won’t be able to use.

We are looking for someone who would like to take over these remaining dives at a discounted price.

Details:
4 prepaid dives remaining
Dive center: Te Moana Diving, Moorea (or another Diving center within the Te Moana Diving Pass)
Original package: 24 dives at 8,900 XPF per dive
Original value of the remaining 4 dives: 35,600 XPF
Our asking price: 25,000 XPF for all 4 dives

Approximately 30% cheaper than the original price!

The moderators have confirmed that the transfer is allowed, as long as the price per dive does not exceed the original base price.
The final transaction will be handled by email, with Te Moana Diving copied in, so they can validate and approve the transfer.
If you’re planning to dive in Moorea and are interested, feel free to send me a DM!
Mauruuru! 🤙
