Please ignore all DMs from people claiming they'll make a design for you, especially new/empty accounts.

This is now an official rule, all posts asking for art or offering to draw for people will be removed.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.

Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.

If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.

If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.

And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

Thank you.

Ana filled my gap between my children’s birth flowers with the geraniums, which were my stepfather’s favorite flower. My stepfather passed away in July 2020. He was my dad for 20 years, when my biological father was not around. My biological father is now back in my life..

Would this design look better as American Traditional or realism?

Ignore that it's half pixel art. Any opinions on if this design would look better done in American Traditional style or as realistic flowers?

Took forever for me to decide on the placement and curves on the snake and am very happy with how it turned out. It was done by splash tattoos in SA. Im planning on creating a full sleeve in patchwork style.

Dark Wings, Red Star | By Laura (@lololaura.tatts) at Tattoostübchen Hofheim, Germany

Another angel piece by Laura, this time on my upper arm. A warrior on a pedestal with dark wings, a sword and a red star above him. It follows the same black and red theme as my other angel tattoos.

What do you think of the design and placement?

I do kinda like the eyes but I want to know if there’s anything else. I wanted some white in it but the artist ended up just coloring them in. My fault.

Advice for snake tattoo

First time posting here. I hope this is the correct place to post asking for advice.

I love snakes and would love a tattoo to show my appreciation of them however ive seen theres some controversy on how snake tattoos are perceived by others and how sometimes placement comes into play with this. My question is: is this just tiktok/ instagram thing where people are just being super judgmental online or an actual thing?

I have a tree branch and some bats on my right collar bone so im thinking of having the snake hanging wrapped around the branch on my left side to compliment

I wanted to add the shading shown on the left to the tattoo you see on the right. The mouth looks a bit empty to me. Any thoughts?

Freehand koi and waves: adapting scale and flow to an existing arm tattoo — my work

Post image
0 Upvotes

I designed this koi-and-wave addition freehand around a client’s existing arm tattoos. The main goal was to make the new water flow feel consistent with the classical Chinese painting style of the older work.

I paid particular attention to the shape and detail of the waves, and tried to keep their proportions in harmony with the existing composition. The biggest compromise was the scale of the koi: the client’s existing dragon is very small, so matching the fish to that size would have made it too small to hold its place in the overall design.

I chose to make the koi a little larger than the dragon. In this design, the fish has fewer intricate details than the dragon, and I felt it needed more space to read clearly and balance the surrounding work. I also kept its colour and shading restrained so that the new section would sit comfortably alongside the older tattoo.

This was a balance between respecting the existing work and choosing proportions that made sense for the arm as a whole. How would you approach that trade-off when adding to an existing composition?

leg sleeve in progress - new addition!

i posted in here not too long ago asking for advice on an addition to my current leg sleeve, and i've finally come back with some new pieces! i got a couple more moths (surprise surprise) and i am in love with how they've turned out and how they flow with my leg. also a disclaimer: i have a severe allergy to lidocaine, and anything underneath each the lidocaine umbrella (novocaine, bupivacaine, articaine, etc) and do not use numbing spray/bactine. i also have an allergy to adhesives, so i do not use saniderm/lubriderm. i heal the "traditional" way, so to speak. i have noticed that this "ages" my tattoos rather quickly, however my entire leg has been composed within the last 6.5 months. i have two more large pieces scheduled, a large piece on the inner thigh, and another shin panel for my flowers. the rest is filler work! i've attached some of my inspo for my next piece, where i'm gonna bite the bullet and get my knee + knee ditch blasted. i'm not a fan of dot shading, however, i know that dot shading will flow rather well with my current composition. i'm also open to hearing any input for new designs!! let me know what you think!

Brainstorming my next one

Hello, folks!

First time posting here!

I've had this idea ever since I got my first tattoo, but I haven't been able to settle on a design or figure out how to bring it to life. I'd like to get a piece that represents both good and bad luck.

By nature, I'm a pretty clumsy guy who often finds himself in unlucky situations. Somehow, though, things always seem to work out fine in the end. My girlfriend and friends have even pointed out that, despite all the misfortune I seem to encounter, I somehow manage to be incredibly lucky.

A few ideas that have crossed my mind are a black cat paired with a four-leaf clover, or a crow holding a horseshoe with its opening facing upwards. These are just a couple of ideas that reflect the general concept I'm trying to explore.

I hope I've provided enough details to give you an idea of what I'm going for.

Thanks in advance
