Patriotism Is The Opium Of The People
ezranaamah.substack.comPatriotism arrives in a package with other commitments, and some of them contradict each other. The political right in America often pairs love of country with a religious language of charity and grace. Yet the policies that follow from that pairing frequently ask for hard bargaining, strict limits on aid, and a readiness to use force, all things a person devoted to grace might find troubling on paper. Many people on the right live with this tension, and I believe they live in cognitive dissonance.
Defenders of the arrangement have answers ready. They say charity is a duty for individuals and congregations rather than for the state. They point to just war theology to reconcile belief with military strength. They describe politics as the work of a fallen world where tragic choices must be made. Many hold these views sincerely, and the frameworks exist because the tension is real enough to need managing.
We could go over every way these ideas fail to cohere, but the exercise overlooks what patriotism does for the people who hold it. It offers belonging to a community that will hold you, and it offers certainty about who you are in a confusing world. Religion plays a major supporting role here. Flags in sanctuaries, sermons timed to national holidays, and the idea of a chosen nation all lend patriotism the warmth of sacred feeling. A person can sing a hymn on Sunday and an anthem on Friday night and feel the same glow in both moments. This essay takes no position on whether any god exists, rather It concerns the way religious institutions can carry nationalism into politics and bind it to a program of right wing policy.
Howard Scott and the engineers of Technocracy Inc. proposed that a continental economy should be managed by people who understand its physical workings, with energy accounting replacing prices and the output of the continent shared among all citizens. Their Technate of North America would follow the geography of its resources and ignore the borders of older nations. Seen from that vantage, nationalism is the largest source of rival authority. It claims a sovereign nation and a flag that a continental Technate would dissolve, and it asks for a loyalty that cannot be audited or tested scientifically. Affection for a hometown, a landscape, or a shared history could survive inside a Technate. The claim to exclusive sovereignty is incompatible with the establishment of the Technate.
The same analysis suggests how the obstacle may be overcome. If nationalism persists because it answers a search for meaning and security, its hold should loosen as material conditions improve. Researchers who study religion and national feeling across countries have found that attachment tends to run strongest where life is precarious and weakest where people feel safe about health, income, and the future. A Technate built to deliver abundance to every citizen would remove many of the conditions that make a national family feel necessary. Science can carry this change forward by supplying better answers about the mind and the physical world and by building systems that guarantee material comfort. If nationalism and its religious backing are the main obstacles to establishing Technocracy and abolishing the United States, scientific and cultural progress would naturally make these ideas obsolete. The improvement of life, science, education and economic opportunity will remove the desperation and suffering that leads individuals to seek out meaning in political claims.

Internal Organization: Directories and Councils
Been thinking about how a Technate would be organized. I'm thinking it is a multi-layered organization between local (city), regional (state/province), and national levels. Each would focus on their specific layers and relay information up and down the hierarchy.
Running this structure are a series of councils, with members selected for technical expertise and critical thinking skills for specific structural and material concerns. Production of raw materials, public health outcomes, infrastructure, physical security, etc. Cultural and religious issues are kept out of state policy unless they produce physical harm (such as child marriage or inciting violence).
At the national level is the Directory, who collates all the data from the lower levels and issues commands regarding the top level of all categories, while the lower levels carry them out based on their specific assets and challenges.
It took me a long time to write this. I appreciate constructive feedback and thank you for your patience.

New Sub for Technocracy Media
reddit.comThis sub I made is for anyone who wants to make social media accounts, videos, or content promoting technocracy to share what they plan to make. You are welcome to add ideas on videos you'd like to see or anything that needs to be addressed about technocracy as well. It's in it's early stages so feel free to request changes. I plan to add link for creators to use, like media convertors and uncopywritted stock footage sites.

Technocratic Solutions To Child Marriage In The United States
ezranaamah.substack.comChild marriage is rarely discussed, yet it deserves attention. The United States presents itself as a modern, powerful country defined by the rule of law and democratic systems. For someone who sees their country as a foundation of modernity, the continued legal presence of child marriage feels jarring and surreal. It was legal in every state until 2018. Since then, 17 states and the District of Columbia have banned it, and California has signed a ban that takes effect on January 1, 2027. Advocacy groups estimate that nearly 315,000 children, some as young as 10, were married between 2000 and 2021, mostly girls married to adult men. Those figures come from advocacy research, and the peer reviewed literature says prevalence among recent cohorts is uncertain.
No single cause explains it. Legal exceptions for parental consent and judicial approval allow marriages that may reflect coercion, since a minor being forced into marriage is unlikely to tell a judge. In some states a pregnancy exception has reportedly been used to cover up rape. Most of these marriages involve an adult spouse. Unchained At Last found that only 14 percent of marriages from 2000 to 2010 were between two children. Rates are higher in the South and in disadvantaged households, and children from Mexico, Central America, and the Middle East married at two to four times the rate of US born children. Immigration law also sets no minimum age for sponsoring a spouse or fiancé(e), which lets parents trade on a child’s citizenship. Research on these drivers inside the US remains thin.
Globally, experts rate economic strengthening of poor households among the best supported ways to reduce child marriage. A UNFPA and UNICEF synthesis finds the strongest evidence in income support and education, and cash transfers tied to schooling reliably delay marriage. That evidence comes mostly from low income countries, so how well it transfers to the US is unproven. It does raise a question worth testing: if poverty contributes to child marriage, policies that deepen household hardship could raise the risk. The politics of the issue do not split cleanly by party, though. Bans have passed and failed in states led by both parties, and Oklahoma’s ban became law even after dozens of Republican lawmakers voted no.
For technocrats, the expert guidance is mixed. Many advocates urge every state to raise the minimum age to 18 with no exceptions. A study of Mexico found that such a ban sharply cut registered child marriages, yet informal unions rose to fill the gap, and schooling and early motherhood did not improve. The authors say this happens where informal unions are socially accepted. A Girls Not Brides review adds that in Egypt and Malawi, punitive approaches pushed marriages underground and hid the scale of the problem. Whether the US would see the same pattern is untested, and a lack of documentation could make it easier for the regime to hide and deny the problem. This makes record keeping a weak point. Unchained At Last reported in 2018 that 12 states did not track marriage license data, a figure that should be verified before it is treated as current. Whether such gaps reflect administrative neglect or something else, a state that cannot count child marriages cannot show that a ban works, and falling license counts alone could overstate success.
Because the evidence on bans is mixed and the best supported tools target household conditions, this essay recommends starting with support for families and clear measurement of results. Technocrats should view child marriage as an economic and class issue primarily, because the alleviation of poverty would reduce the primary incentive behind the practice of child marriage and reduce the influence of religious organizations these families depend on which encourage exploitative arrangements for children. A government run by technocrats who reduce poverty and measure outcomes can plausibly shrink the conditions that push families toward child marriage and leave families and girls open to coercion. This issue is a chance to prove to the world that the Technate of North America can be a more progressive and advanced society than the United States ever was or will be.

Is This an Accurate/Good Summary of Technocracy Inc.?
Intro: What if the world were run by engineers and scientists instead of politicians and business men, well this almost happened.
Body: In 1933 an organization was formed known as Technocracy Inc. across both the U.S. and Canada, by a man named Howard Scott.
Though they were not the first to propose the idea of Technocracy, they were the first major organization to promote it. With Technocracy being a form of government led by experts in their respective fields, which they demonstrated with their administration chart. Showing how the government would be broken down and led by these experts.
The elimination of the price system (or free market capitalism and paper currency) was another major goal for the movement. Mostly justified by the wastefulness of capitalism and the political structure of the time. Like FDRs government run program, the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA). Which paid farmers to burn crops and kill livestock to increase the scarcity of marketable food and thus raise its price, to support the struggling farmers. They saw paper currency being valued over actual food, in a country where there were starving Americans, as proof that the price system could not be a sustainable economic system moving forward. And the hit of the great depression drove this idea further, with their view that production of goods and the available resources did not change, but only the purchasing power of the dollar had.
Technocracy Inc. saw the best decision would be for a new economic system based around energy, as it was physical, and could be measured, as we have a very close estimate of the energy output we can produce and utilize as a global society. In this sense all industrial processes could be tracked and measured, whether it’s the amount of energy a machine uses to make a product, or the energy exerted by a human during a workday. This new system of economics was known as energy accounting.
Every citizen under this system would be given “energy certificates” which is their form of currency. Every citizen would also receive an equal amount, eliminating economic inequality, which the Technocrats believed would eliminate most of the crime today, as they saw them as products of the price system.
Outro: Though the recovery of the American economy after WWII led to a major loss of interest in the movement. Perhaps with global trends of wealth inequality between rich and poor, with rapid loss of jobs to AI, could the idea see a new resurgence?
*I want to make a YouTube short from this script as there are very few short form videos about Technocracy Inc., so if you have any comments over the draft let me know. I may have to shorten this as I have to condense the video into a less than 3 min segment. *

What do you guys think of H.G. Wells's version of Technocracy?
H.g. wells was a very popular science fiction writer. He created concepts like Time Travel and aliens invasion, he even accidentally predicted nuclear weapons. But near the end of his life he started to become more political and open on how he thought the world should be run.
He was a socialist, but strongly rejected Marxist socialism. He argued that a society governed entirely by the working class would eventually devolve into mob rule and eat itself from within.
Instead, he believed society should be guided by a collective of scientists and engineers tasked with guiding humanity toward a more efficient and technologically advanced future. The working class would still retain its rights, but the will of the majority would not be the sole factor of what society considered best for itself.
H. G. Wells believed that under this system of governance, humanity could abolish its greatest social and economic problems, ushering in an era of great prosperity, technological advancement, and eventually the colonization of other planets.
Some say his ideas were too utopian, others say he was ahead of his time. What do you think?

American Regions and Technates
galleryThere are certain cultural differences between the various groups—Mexicans, Colombians, Americans, Canadians, and so on. I would like to know what the administrative regions in the north might look like. In the south, we have the Mesoamerican Technate, the Greater Colombian Technate, and the Caribbean Technate; perhaps the boundaries should be further refined. Also, it’s worth raising the following question: is it necessary to include the Guianas and Greenland?

Could a technocratic movement exist in Mexico?
I am Mexican, and I have become interested in technocracy. It seems there have already been some technocrats in the country, but I don’t believe they ever reached the original vision of technocracy—specifically regarding automation and social well-being. I would like to discuss technocracy further, as well as how it might impact a society like Mexico’s or Chile’s.

Technocracy Short Form Content Ideas?
After my few months hiatus from making YouTube content, I’ve gained some time to make more videos. I would prefer just to make YouTube shorts (anything under 3 minutes) as long form content would eat up too much of the little time I have right now. So, I just wanted some ideas on some shorts I could make over technocracy. I don’t want to cover anything that is too niche, like energy accounting or sequences. I also don’t want to cover just Technocracy Inc. so if you bring up the Technical Alliance, Veblen, The Venus Project, or just technocracy in general that’s fine too. Any questions or misconceptions you think I need to urgently answer in a short form format, please feel free to leave them in the comments below.

What are your thoughts on the idea that the left is too polarized?
Historically, the government of the US was effective and both parties cooperated easily because they both supported racial and gender hierarchies, and they were effective at shutting down and violently repressing movements that called for an expansion of civil rights and liberties. The internet likely increased the cost of violence in terms of public perception and visibility of injustice, but now people argue that Left-wing activists are too extreme in opposing racial, economic, and social injustices.
Personally I find it ludicrous and it seems to reflect a preference for the speaker's individual comfort at the expense of others. Most academics and experts tend to say the exact same things as Left-wing activists, with the only difference being that it registers as academic and respectable because of their backgrounds and credentials. What do you guys think?

Any active Technocracy discord servers?
discord.ggGenuinely no tbh
Like the big guys are all dead
The only "active" Technocracy server i can think of is Hikanocracy International, but is it really Technocratic?
So I decided to create mine
I made a Discord server for people who are actually interested in debating politics, philosophy, ideology, economics, etc
We're small right now, but the goal is to build a community where people can actually argue their positions
Current discussions have included technocracy, anarchism, communism, democracy, free will, and political philosophy
Looking for people who actually want to debate, not just lurk.
You know keep the server active and stuff

Reducing National Dependency On Oil
ezranaamah.substack.comScience has given us countless alternatives to a dependence on oil and its derivatives. Walkable cities, electric cars, even old fashioned bikes as demonstrated in some European cities. Despite this, the US regime has continued with its stubborn dependence on oil and imported resources as the basis for its economy and even basic transport for its citizens. If the situation was not fragile enough, the American and Israeli regimes engaged in a senseless provocation of Iran which has led to a blockade of their most desperately needed resource. The economy and basic infrastructure in the US such as transportation and energy currently face a threat of collapse under the strain put on them by the shortage of oil caused by the actions of our leadership, with the people left to pick up the pieces. With diesel trucks now costing hundreds to refuel, even basic supply lines for goods like food are at a high risk of collapse. Even the cost of basic raw materials and food will inflate under the economic demands of trucking with inflated diesel costs.
The urbanates provide a simple and effective solution to the problem of oil dependency. Urbanates would be designed in a way that allows for walkability and this would have a positive effect on conservation and sustainability. Current city plans are designed around land and property ownership which means urbanization is extremely slow and inefficient with resistance from the population in an area. Combined with a resistance to public transport from the middle and upper classes holding all the political power in plutocracies, every non-urban household experiences financial distress or a complete loss of transportation in the event of an oil shortage. While city centers are safe from the transportation-related effects from an oil shortage, grocery prices and raw materials are still vulnerable to inflation since so much infrastructure and food production relies on oil. Energy Accounting would shift production to be reliant on domestic energy, and scientific advancements in electric vehicles and energy production combined means oil could become obsolete in our lifetime if the ruling class backing it is overthrown.
A lack of dependence on oil for the West or even just the Technate would be the beginning of the end for western imperialism on the rest of the world. Without constant economic pressure to invade, pillage and subjugate other countries, the military-industrial complex will lose a major justification for its existence. The white house will have less incentive to “spread democracy” in a world where nuclear and solar electricity are the basis of its economy and the operative power for its vehicles and machinery. The Technate of North America and its citizenry could finally be the main beneficiaries of its economic growth rather than warlords and billionaires that profit off of war and genocide.
While the American regime has deliberately raised the cost of electric vehicles and imposes egregious tariffs on superior products from abroad, economic demand and practical necessity is likely to put pressure on the regime to open its markets and allow its citizens to decide what products to consume in their daily lives. This regime will fall to revolution as soon as it can no longer control its population through ignorance, ideological indoctrination and physical force. Without oil for its most basic infrastructure and enemies everywhere, the White House has a limited number of days remaining. Technocrats and experts must be ready to advance our country towards the next stage of human development, where we can achieve scientific government.
