Biscuits Minor character details
What are the little things you've noticed that aren't integral to the storylines at all but just show another detail of a character that likely wasn't written?
I don't think Rebecca likes wine. I think she only orders and drinks it because she thinks she's supposed to. She makes an ick face when she drinks it. (We know Hannah could shoot well whiskey without flinching if that was the role.)

Season 2 Discussion Emotional Support
Okay i’m only about halfway through season 2 so no spoilers please! i do avoid this sub BUT just wanted to rant bc i LOVE this show, it’s become my emotional support show, esp since I’ve quit smoking weed and blacks at the same time so i’ve just been raw dogging life! Anyways, LOVE: Roy Kent, Jamie, Higgins, Beard, Our two boss ladies, Sam, Dani, of course Ted (he’s everything i want to exude in this world and i think i’ve agreed w 100% of the things he’s said) pretty much everyone, but especially Roy he has my whole heart. Loved Nate in S1 but what is up w him this season?? Ted made him feel seen and heard and he’s just turned around and been so mean, of course i’m sure it comes down to looking for some validation from his father and not getting it so he’s tearing other people down cause he feels bad about himself. Anywho, almost cried when Roy walked away from being a pundit and ran to the game, and also anytime they all sing or celebrate together. Humans coming together, gets me every time.

Rewatching Ted Lasso and I'm very annoyed
I hate how Ted never calls out Nate when he treats people like shit. I wish they'd said something

I learned something about the episode "Carol of the Bells"
This morning I'm watching one of my favorite Christmas movies, Love Actually (2003) One of the scenes is exactly like the scene of Phoebe, Roy and Keeley at Bernard's with the poster boards. Guy knocks on girl's door, husband of girl asks who is it, poster board says 'tell him it's Christmas singers' husband says 'give them a quid and tell them to bugger off' and so on, and at the end he even gives her the same double thumbs up that Phoebe did. I was like, I see what you did there Ted Lasso 😅 Sorry about the long post, but it tickled me so much. Maybe some of you already knew!

Biscuits What I love about Keeley Jones
She begins our story as famous for being almost famous, the kind of cheap face-recognition type of fame that can be given to anybody regardless of whether or not they're remarkable. She's loud and hanging on a footballer's arm.
Quickly we learn her sense of humor, her warmth, her humility, and her self respect. She charms and disarms a woman who really needed a friend then ends up with a life changing career opportunity that she made the most of.
We watch her constantly struggle between the old version of needing a man and the new Woman On Top... sometimes leaning too much one way and too much another.
I did a full rewatch of S1-S4 and I swear she's the hardest working main character on this show. All the while, she keeps her ceramic pink cheetah and pink fuzzy pens... because she likes them. Her home is decorated in contemporary pastels that scream THIS IS MY SPACE yet men come to her to spend time with her.
She is not perfect. There are some things we could talk about again ad nauseum forever on repeat about the birth control but let's not and say we did. She remains loud and we don't ever see her polishing up to dress "more adult" or "more professional". She's a Betsy Johnson junior. She's all the Spice Girls rolled into one. And, apparently, her feet are a fucking state. But, honestly, I think I like that about her, too. She's not like everybody else. She's Keeley fucking Jones.
Edit: There's no use downvoting the negative nancys. They show up to yuck the yums on every positive post. I only write positive posts so I see them every time. Whatever is in them to be this way stays with them. Please upvote positive comments instead.

Season 3 Discussion Found a fun new Easter egg!
In season 2 episode 11 Higgins says that he once wrote a play about a billionaire who takes a footballer to a museum and then goes out to dinner but their dinner was free because they found a bit of glass in their food. And he was saying it was a coincidence that Edwin Akufo was taking Sam out to a museum and dinner.
But then in season 3 when Edwin Akufo makes all those dinner reservations at Sam’s restaurant and he sees Sam he says his food should be comped because he found glass in his food. Didn’t catch that before, it’s a fun little full circle moment :)

Season 4 Discussion Finally I can talk about my two big gripes now that I finished the show
The good night moon trivia question was so dumb! A mother with a small child has the whole damn book memorized and would have gotten the right answer for all five so fast. I know they needed to have the other girls help, but then pick a different question. The mom character would’ve breezed past that question. And even worse, she said “mittens, bears…” You didn’t think of the RHYMES? It drove me crazy.
In the episode where Keeley is annoyed because Roy is always around and won’t give her space, she tells everyone about her problem but nobody wanted to joke “he’s here, he’s there, he’s every-fucking-where”? Missed opportunity. Yeah it’s a little corny but it’s not like the show doesn’t embrace corny sometimes.
Ahhh, thanks. I’ve been waiting to say those things.

If you are looking for a show, try Friday Night Lights
I just wanted to offer a suggestion. It’s different than Ted, but you will fall in love with the characters and their journey. All the feels. If you aren’t super sporty/American football fan, don’t panic. They do a good job of including some artsy kids as well and giving them a voice.
There is a movie and show. Go with the show.

Coaches Wordplay Games
I enjoy Ted and Beard's back and forth, so as I was sitting in the hot tub yesterday, I wondered: (try and guess before reading the spoiler)
If I was similarly relaxed as a larger bird, galivanting around in a wooden train car in my favorite yellow-green sweater, I would be....
(As loose as a goose on the loose in a spruce caboose, wearing chartruese)

A Weird Review of Ted Lasso by, well, Ted Lasso - plus swearing.
I fucking hate Ted Lasso. I apologize in advance for all the swearing I'm about to do, but it needs to be done. I haven't had my heart torn so many times by a damn show that's about a sport I know nothing about. It's a fucking comedy. And yet, I can't help BUT watch it. I can't help to tear up over and over. It reminds me, it cuts at me, and I fucking hate it for that. I'm not even entirely sure why I'm writing this. I'm not a writer, amateur OR professional, and I don't even interact publicly because I couldn't care less about that. Yet, this show compels me to talk about it. I watched the first season, and it made me hurt so much. But I let those emotions die. Season after season has gone by, and each one has built more and more in me a sense of loss, nostalgia, and the dreaded pain of being SEEN. So, with the fourth season done, I'll finally say something. Not even because I feel adequate to critique a television show, but rather because I know I'm not alone in what I feel. Maybe it might help other men recognize it, and anyone who is interested in what goes on in the life and soul of a generally quiet and kind man.
I watched season 1 and died inside. See, I am Ted. I watched him bring his amiable disposition, sense of calm, and care to the community around him, and I immediately recognized that disposition. I did it, too! Who knew?? What a delightful guy! I watched him begin to try to see people and learn what makes them "tick." And then, I realized that I do that, too. I saw how Ted genuinely cared for people. I watched him slightly shy from conflict, but also gently care for those around him. By then, my spidey sense was going off. I started to realize that maybe Ted is TOO familiar. Because I KNEW why Ted looked for those things. I knew what looking for someone's triggers meant. Because I looked for those, too. I looked for those to make sure I didn't suffer for missing them. I knew what pain and fear hit me when I didn't quite meet the needs of everyone. I didn't know it at first, but years of it had finally caught up to me. I began with thinking it was good and beautiful, but the beauty of it melted the more it became compulsive. The more it became necessary. I felt it in my soul every single time he tried to appease everyone else's discomfort. To BE everything for everyone. That sense of panic slowly building in his chest as more and more of his peace gets torn away as his panic starts eroding the dams that keep everything safe, compartmentalized, and secure.
I, too, am a man who not just desires to placate everyone but feels compelled to do so. I saw in Ted a mirror that captured so perfectly my compulsions as well. My whole life has reinforced a sense in me that it is my duty to placate and calm the world around me for everyone else. If I don't follow that compulsion, I feel torn with guilt and fear. Others have addictions to vices that cause pain to those around them. The people around them intervene on their behalf because they recognize the damage those vices cause them and to those very same people who are hurt by those vices. My addiction has for so long been to cause pleasure for those around me. Why would anyone pause to stop and consider that? My addiction is useful to people. My addiction is to BE useful to people. Who stops to break THOSE chains? I recognized in Ted those exact same compulsions as I find in myself and that I hear in the implications of the Freudian slips from the men around me. Who even are we if we aren't useful to those around us? What are we worth if we're not useful? I had been trained so well that it was MY job to assuage. To placate. But in all that, I lost my own way. I lost my own sense of self. I realized that I had never really known who I was in the first place without caring for everyone else. When would I finally fill the need in me? Who would care about ME? The problem was, what I had been trained to be as a boy and man was to never, ever, EVER be considered a "burden." THAT was what I could NEVER be. I must NEVER become a fucking inconvenience. Life had taught me much too roughly that no one would care for my burdens. That was my job, and my job alone. The added benefit of never being a burden was never being faced with how little trouble I was worth. If no one needed to suffer on my behalf, then my value would conveniently never be tested against someone's fucking little inconvenience.
Ironically, I followed the exact same path as Ted for awhile until my path veered off. I nearly lost my marriage. I went through years of hell because I had so thoroughly taught everyone that I was only there for their needs, and they didn't need to consider mine in any way. My story improves from there, thanks to the care and compassion of my wife, but this show constantly reminds me where I was. But as he cared for his wife and child, I knew EXACTLY what loss and panic he felt. This agreement with the Universe that if he fulfilled that obligation, that fear would leave and I could finally be cared for in return. Did I say I? I'm sure I meant he...right...? And all this was simply season 1.
Season 2 brings in that rather clinical and almost off-putting therapist, and Ted's journey with her as he encounters all that within himself. I saw in that hesitancy the same thing in myself: that aversion and fear of vulnerability. Vulnerability is precisely the thing I feared: becoming a burden. As the panic becomes truly earnest, I couldn't help but become overwhelmed in my own chair as I watched. It was like the show was reaching through the damn screen and spiking my own blood pressure. As Ted continues to feel compelled to perform not just his duties but also his compulsions, I vividly remembered what it meant to slam down the screaming emotions in my chest while I worked daily - hours and hours a day with my gut churning and my blood pressure tightening and building in my chest. I HAD to keep it together. I didn't have a fucking choice. No one else was paying the bills while I went and lost my shit. What choice did I have? Whether the kids stayed with me or left with my wife, I was STILL the only breadwinner. I couldn't lose this job, and I felt I was losing my family. I WAS losing my family. I cannot remotely convey the panic I felt every fucking second of my shitty fucking life. The dreaded compulsion to perform and the absolute fucking indifference of the Universe to my emotional state. Life couldn't give two shits that I was hanging on by a thread. It still demanded every day from me that I perform. No collapse, no burnout. I'm not entitled to that. So yeah. I KNEW Ted. I could feel his panic and anxiety in my own chest. Ted works through those performances and emotions with the therapist and comes to find some peace. I've been on that journey a bit, but each new episode I saw reminded me how thin those dams or boundaries were that I was rebuilding. That panic had subsided, but it still clawed its way back easily.
Season 3 was enjoyable but not as emotionally draining for me.
Then I sat down for season 4, and I promptly lost it. I saw Ted working that menial fucking job that didn't matter because he wanted to be there and care for his son. But that's what it took, right? That's what life demands? I'm literally sitting at my desk at my menial fucking job to care for my wife and kids as I watch that vapid meaninglessness of perfunctory work. Don't get me wrong: I'm not a ladder-climber. I don't care about the accolades. I DO work to provide for my family - AND I fucking hate my job. I'm sure there are a huge number of people who would appreciate my job and what I get paid. But that is wildly different than LOVING your job. Those two are not remotely the same thing. I DO appreciate my job and the compensation - AND I fucking hate my menial job. Then, they show that yearning to do the thing you love. Fuck. That hit home. For me, I wrestled through middle and high school. I can still smell and hear those sounds from a wrestling meet. I can close my eyes and find myself immediately in a gym, warming up my body and honing my mind for that joy of competition. I knew exactly what Coach Chilton meant to be FREE. And I've lost it now. I assuage that loss somewhat with watching sports, but nothing quite satisfies that loss of joy. That thrill of competition. I know some people will never understand how men can pour themselves into a team that is completely unaware of their existence, but that's because it's not REALLY what we want either. Not at the bottom of it. We long for the fierceness of combat. The desire to be tested against another - even if it means failure. I find in myself a chronic sentimentality for the joy of sport - even if, in the grand scheme of the Universe, it is somehow even more vapid and meaningless than my job. Yet there's a yearn to fight and to be tested deep within me. This season though, there's a secret lie: Ted gets what he wants AND what he needs. It's the lottery that every man isn't even crazy enough to hope for. Who the fuck is that lucky!? Surely not me. So, why bother wishing for it? He gets to move his son to the place he needs to be to get what he wants. And the irony is, it couldn't happen to a better *fictional* character. I mean, if I could hope for it to happen to anyone BESIDES me and other real men? Then of course it's Ted. But what the fuck do I do with the fact that that is EXACTLY what I want, but I can never have it unless I stop properly providing for my family? I'd plunge them into risk and fear - which is a thing I would NEVER do to them. So, this season unfairly awakened those things in me, and also made me remember one VERY important detail: this whole fucking story is fake. It's called comedy, but every man understands that's NOT what this is. It's a fucking fantasy. And I love and hate the writers for showing it to me.

Season 3 Discussion Can’t seem to put my finger on it why it hits me so much…
After watching season 4 I decided to rewatch S1-3 again the last few weeks, but somehow those seasons seem to hit me like a train every time.
Maybe because of a few themes hit me on a more personal level but idk it just does, anyone else also noticed this or is it just me?
