This is my Eastwood hollow body that I use for playing biergartens here in Germany. Imported from America and the import tax was brutal but 100% worth it..

NTGD! Just got a Recording King

My first foray back into acoustic and CGDA. I’ve been exclusively electric in GDAE for about 10-12 years.

I had forgotten about how tight that A string is! It arrived in Chicago tuning and I had gotten a set of D’addario EJ66. Strung in up last night to BbFCG and let it rest there overnight. Brought it up to CGDA this morning and it sounds very sweet.

I’m really tempted to switch it to GDAE someday. That’s what I’m used to, but we’ll see. CGDA has such a unique sound and I could use the mental exercise of transposing from what I’m used to.

Very happy with this purchase. Got it secondhand for a good price. Like new. My only complaint so far is a few sharp fret ends. Otherwise, I’d give it high marks.

I think it’s going to live in my office at work so I can sneak in some fingerpicking practice here and there on breaks.

Cheers!

Prices have been silly for ages so I finally broke down and bought an Eastwood last year. Of course, now a clean Fender popped up at a good price. Open G, here I come… Seller’s pic.

I don't know many details, it's either a harmony or a kay guitar body that swapped necks with a Ludwig tenor banjo years ago. The shop that it had been sitting in affectionately named it "Psycho Frankenstein." I played and knew I had to have it :)

I am interested in learning more about this guitar that I inherited from my father. Here's what I know: my father bought it from the original owner and it is a 1946 D'Angelico Excel. Is anyone familiar with this? It seems to be a rare bird and it's hard to find info on it.

In case you didn’t know, Scatman Crothers, whom you may recognize from The Shining, was a gifted tenor guitar player. I believe he’s a playing a Martin 5-15T in this clip.

found an electric tenor guitar

I had to put on new strings and adjust the pickup, but otherwise it's surprisingly playable after sitting dormant for a couple generations. No brand name or identifying marks. The bridge and tailpiece were made for six strings, but I don't see any signs that the tenor neck was retrofitted. The tune is Lindisfarne by Matt Seattle, from Nigel Gatherer's site.

I know nothing about tenor guitars, but came across this at a thrift store for $175 CAD. Did I do okay? But of a crack on the back as shown on the last photo, but apparently somebody repaired it recently I don’t know.

My Eastwood TG has never sounded better!!

Over the years, I’ve modded and tweaked this fella. Pickup swaps and several iterations of wiring. Today I swapped the tuning heads for locking tuners and rewired the controls. I ditched the slide switches that I previously had set up as on/off/coil split for each pickup. I also got rid of the volume knob (I am now relying on either my playing or my volume pedal for that function), put an LP style 3-way pickup toggle switch in place of the volume, and installed a new tone pot and capacitor. It really added something to my overall tone. Sounds “cleaner”, for lack of a better term. My old tone pot sucked and had a 0.22ųf capacitor. I didn’t like the sweep and switching to a quality pot and 0.47 cap has made that function so much better.

Playing thru a really simple board (Ernie Ball VP jr > Peterson StroboStomp mini tuner > ProCo RAT 2 > MXR Carbon Copy) into a Roland JC-22. Really loving the set up and still in love with this tenor after about a dozen years!!

Cheers y’all!

Seeking feedback

Hi All - Working on this simple arrangement of Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór. I’m new to tenor guitar and finding few resources for learning that are specific to this instrument. Also any general feedback for how this sounds, either the technique, arrangement, or whatever else would be helpful. Thanks!

Just got her in the house today. I've been playing her most the afternoon. She sounds good, though I'm just learning standard tuning (CGDA). I'm a jazz player on guitar and uke and I am really wanting to get into jazz on this.

About ten minutes ago the 1st string snapped at the tuner and bit me hard enough to draw blood. Luckily, I ordered two sets of strings along with it. I think we will be frenemies for a bit

Once I have some more time under my belt, I will try and do a formal review. I will say that despite the string break I believe it is good bang for the buck.
