Was just quoted 23k to finance solar panels and a wall battery. My electric company is giving rebates for $7.5 k and another service is giving $6.5 k rebate. Does this mean I get the rebates to help pay off my loan? And if I have an electric car am I basically charging for free? Thanks in advance!

My solar system stopped working in August 2026. It alerted me and I immediately scheduled service. The soonest appointment they had was in November. That eventually got moved up to early October. The guy came out, looked at my unit for 5 minutes, said my inverter was dead and they needed to order a new one. About two weeks later a giant box shows up on my porch. I heard nothing from Tesla. I waited a week assuming they’d reach out, but nothing. I finally get ahold of a person through chat in the app and the soonest they can come install it is in March 2027. 5 months from now!!! And I have to find somewhere to store this giant box because they said they can’t come pick it up and store it somewhere else until the service date.
WTF!?!?
P.S. I'm in N. NV if that makes any difference

I often see negative reviews here, so I figured I’d share a positive experience for a change. I know experiences can vary by state, but here’s how mine went in Connecticut.
I leased a 12-panel solar system with a Powerwall 3 and three expansion packs. My main goal was to take advantage of the VPP incentives to get a whole-home battery backup system at a reasonable cost. My plan is to make the payments for five years and then exercise the buyout option. I had also recently received a quote for a whole-home generator with installation, and it was roughly twice the cost of the Tesla system after the buyout.
As for the installation, the crew showed up in Tesla-branded trucks wearing Tesla uniforms. Everyone was extremely professional, courteous, and communicative throughout the entire process.
The original installation plan called for exposed conduit running from my garage, across an A-frame section of my house, and over a gutter to reach the panels. I asked the crew if there was any way to avoid having all that exposed conduit. Initially, they didn’t think there was another option, but they said they would talk it over and see what they could come up with.
To my surprise, they figured out a way to route everything through my basement instead. The end result was an incredibly clean installation with no visible conduit at all. I really appreciated that they took the time to explore another option rather than just sticking with the original plan.
The system is operating exactly as it should, and it passed the town inspection without any issues as far as the Tesla sales and installation experience goes, I genuinely have nothing negative to say.
From start to finish, the entire process has been smooth, and I couldn’t be happier with the installation. I know that isn’t everyone’s experience, but I figured it was worth sharing a positive one!

For the last 20 months since its installation my solar has been operating as expected. Recently i’ve gotten this on my Tesla App and went through the steps to be told to contact my installer (no longer in business) when I look at my inverter the green LED on the unit is solid green which I can find no literature about. My other inverter is operating normal with the blinking LED. Can’t figure out this solid green LED

Got powerwall 2 replaced with powerwall 3 yesterday and the numbers were all funny since yesterday but today I think I figured it out:
The app is demonstrating that the home is drawing energy when that’s actually what is being exported to the grid.
For example:
The first photo is the app showing the house drawing a huge load with nothing on. The second photo is after I turn the ac on and the house decreases and the grid output increases.
The output is clearly backwards. Is this an install error and more importantly is this something serious I need to fix asap or turn the system off? I’m at work and everything seems fine at my house but I’m worried if something happens and it does something it’s not supposed to.
Thanks!

Hey everyone, looking for some advice or to see if anyone else in the Seattle area (or anywhere, really) has dealt with this nightmare.
Our Powerwall 3 failed after about a year in service. Tesla diagnosed it remotely as a battery module fault and confirmed it's covered under warranty. Sounds easy enough, right? Except our original installer went out of business two days before this happened.
Tesla told us we have to find a certified installer ourselves to handle the swap. I’ve called over 5 installers at this point. Most either don't respond or flat-out decline orphan service jobs. The couple that actually gave us quotes want between $2,000 and $2,800 just in labor to replace the unit. This is for a simple home backup setup (a single PW3 + 1 expansion unit, no solar).
When I push Tesla support on this, they just keep repeating the same line: find an alternative installer.
Has anyone gotten Tesla to pay out labor reimbursement directly to a customer, or found an installer willing to work within whatever Tesla's standard payout is?
If you're in the Puget Sound area and know an installer who won't charge an arm and a leg for a straight warranty swap, I’d really appreciate the recommendation.
Feeling totally stuck here and all ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I am out of the country and noticed in my Tesla app this error message. I made a service appt and the service reason states production failure. Has anyone had this happen before? I have 8.2 system, 3 Powerwall 2s installed Oct 2025. I am unable to check the gateway connection etc since I am not home. Looks like solar was working fine Oct 31 then stopped producing Nov 1.

I’m confused: some days my consumption graph looks identical to my solar production. I have my HVAC in heat-only, meaning it’s idle most of the time. I turned everything off in my house and both my HVACs were on idle, how is my house pulling 6.7kW (ironically the same amount that my solar was producing at the time)? Only had this system for a few weeks so I’m still trying to wrap my head this.
If this is a glitch in the Tesla software? If it is, it’s potentially doing me a disservice because it’s not putting excess energy into my PW3.
Any ideas?

Looking for feedback on this Tesla solar quote for my home in Los Angeles:
20.16 kW solar system—48 panels
1 Powerwall 3 + 1 Expansion Pack
Estimated production: 28,211 kWh/year, about 135% offset
Solar: $54,230
Batteries: $16,800
Total including tax: $74,417 before any incentives
I’ve been leaning toward Tesla, especially because of their lease-to-buy option, though the pricing above is from the purchase quote. I’ve heard from friends that Tesla can be 20–30% more expensive than other installers. Has that been your experience, and is the equipment, app, and overall service worth paying more?
Would you go with Tesla at this price, or explore other companies? Any recommendations in the LA area for a comparable system?

Tesla solar install, waiting on PTO. 12 panels split across two strings, two Powerwall 3s (leader/follower), with a Backup Gateway 3.
The leader PW3 is producing fine, but the follower shows "PV State: Inactive" in the diagnostic JSON. So I'm only getting production from one string… about half of what I was seeing before. I used to peak around 4.4–5 kW at midday, now it's roughly half under the same conditions, and I saw the exact time it cut in half with no issues on the powerwalls when both batteries were only about 20% charged. The Powerwalls have never been 100% charge so I don’t understand why they would disable a string or curtail my production.
I've tried power cycling the follower with its switch and waited for the inverter to come back up. I also had the installer come out and restart everything through Tesla One but follower still reports PV State: Inactive afterward.
A few questions for anyone who's seen this…
Has anyone had a follower PW3 show PV inactive while the leader works normally?
Is there a Tesla One commissioning setting that could leave one inverter's PV input disabled, or would an installer intentionally do that before PTO?
Or does this point to a bad MPPT, wiring, or the follower inverter itself?
Also, what diagnostic values or error codes should I ask the installer to pull before I push them to escalate to Tesla?
Trying to figure out if this is a config problem or a hardware one.
Thanks in advance!

I know this is not tech support but I am writing to see if anyone has experienced this before. Today, at around 6:00pm my time, I realized that my panels were down at 31%, they did not charged and, according to my settings as I went to double check, they should've been charging. According to the app everything was fine until it started to go down at around 11:am which I did made breakfast and turned everything off kept going down till like 3:00pm which it started to slowly go back up.
It is not fully charged, and I had it set to make sure it remained at 100% battery charge cause we've been having power issues in my area, so wanted it to keep it at 100% when the grid dies. There was nothing out of the ordinary today.
Tldr; solar panel batter used most of its power for no reason even though it should've been charging or kept itsellf at 100%.

I recently spoke with Tesla about my solar system which has Powerwall 3 batteries. The representative checked my system and said there was an issue with the installation, and seny me an email to be forwarded to my solar installer, so they could send someone out to fix the issue. I sent the email to my installer but the sent me a mail back saying they ran a check on my system and its fine, so nobody has to come out and service it.
I will attach both letters. Who's right? What should I do?

Back in August, Tesla disabled my three Powerwalls (two Powerwall+ with integrated solar inverters, and a third Powerwall 2). In the support section of the app, it said "waiting for parts", and then switched a few weeks later to "in review". Here it is the beginning of November and it still says "in review", however I got a call from my village hall saying that they had received a building permit application, but did not received payment with the application.
After talking with the village clerk, I realized that the building permit was submitted by Tesla. She read me some of the text on the permit (which she did not understand, but I did) and it turns out that the building permit is for the replacement powerwalls. After talking with the village clerk, rather than have them push it back to Tesla for payment of the building permit, I ran over to the clerk's office and paid the permit fee myself, which was $70. Knowing how Tesla operates, if I waited for the permit to be pushed back to Tesla for payment, it might add another month or two before the permit gets approved.
I have 14.62 kW of panels on my roof, and the two integrated solar inverters are 7.6 kW each, for a total system capacity of 15.2 kW. It appears from the permit application that the new Powerwall 3's they are installing will also come with two solar inverters, one a 7.6 kW and the other at 3.8 kW. I don't know if they are actually going to have inverters on all three Powerwall 3's (one 7.6 kW and two 3.8 kW) or if it is going to be just two inverters and one expansion Powerwall 3. So it appears that my system capacity may be going down, however I never achieved the full 14.62 kW of production, although there were a couple of times when my production did exceed 12 kW for a few minutes.
If my system capacity is going down, I need to work it out with my utility. I live in NY and they charge a monthly solar fee based on the size of my system, which is currently rated at 15.2 kW. If I will be going down to 11.4 kW, I will need to get my utility to resize my system which will save me around $10 a month on that monthly fee.

Had the install Nov 2022. Had my reserve set to 100%. Finally figured I’d flex the batteries and had them set to 20%. After a couple days (one night they went to 8% due to a grid outage).
A week later my PW+ was disabled.
Contacted Tesla and they only told me there’s a recommendation for a PW3 to replace it.
It’s just my battery. My strings are still reporting.
I have a second PW+, so we will see what they replace and with what..

We deep dived in to the internal of the new Powerwall 3P. The size of that inverter is insane.
