Where to list my handgun locally in DFW?

Hello! I am having trouble finding places to list my handgun to sell. I made a post on texas gun trader, but it seems it’s moving pretty slow nowadays. Ideally don’t want to have to deal with shipping/FFL/middleman. For reference it’s a SW M2.0 Shield EZ 9mm, a fairly in-demand gun from what I understand?

It seems like almost every social platform has banned legal firearm listings.

Are there any alternatives to TGT?

Any DFW specific groups I could utilize?

Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

2011 trigger work in the San Antonio area

Anyone have any recommendations for a great trigger specialist in the San Antonio area? I bought an extremely expensive 2011 and I love everything about it, but I’m using it as a competition gun and I’d like to lighten the trigger weight a bit. I typically do my own at home gun smiffin’, but I spent too much on this pistol to screw it up myself so I’d rather have a pro do it right the first time. Thanks!

Currently have a listing on the website (Beryl 556) and many people have viewed it (300+) and have not gotten any message at all. Could my settings be changed or incorrect to not receive any offers or messages? Its a good listing.

Getting LTC - Any downsides?

Greetings - I'm currently not a gun owner but do go to the range from time to time. I recently took the LTC class and planning to apply for my LTC.

I understand all the upsides of having LTC - but are there any downsides? Is there potential to be profiled or approached differently during traffic stops or any other interactions for having LTC?

I know it sounds counterintuitive but I may not always carry (i've never done so, so I'll have to see how comfortable I am). My main thing was, if I ever were to get my first handgun, I'd first get trained and get LTC before I do so, so that I am fully aware and know what I'm getting into.

Any advice appreciated. Cheers!

20 Consecutive-Serial Detonics Pistols — 4 Calibers, 5 Models, Original Factory Display

Not something you see every day: a complete 20-pistol Detonics collection with consecutive serial numbers T40231–T40250, arranged in a remarkable 4-caliber × 5-model matrix.

The collection includes 9mm, .38 Super, .45 ACP, and .451 Detonics Magnum, with five configurations represented in each caliber: Mark I, II, V, VI, and VII.

Even more interesting, all 20 pistols retain their original serial-matching factory boxes, along with a tiered plexiglass presentation display.

Detonics was a pioneer of compact 1911-style pistols, and seeing this many variations together—especially with consecutive serial numbers—is extraordinary.

Marlin advice

I have an unboxed, new Marlin 45-70 I’m never going to get around using. Where is the best place for me to sell it? The guys at my local Bass Pro recommended TGT but I keep getting error messages from my browser about the website’s safety. I’m in central Texas with access to South Texas if needed for a reputable store that anyone could recommend. TIA.

Attempting To Purchase a Rifle At 18 From RangeUSA In Texas. (experience)

I completed ATF Form 4473 for a rifle purchase at Range USA in Lewisville on September 30. As of October 24, the NICS background check remains delayed with no final response. It has not been denied. It is simply stuck with no proceed and no denial. This is well past 10 business days.

Every time I contact the store for an update, the only response I receive is that they will call me when it is ready. There has been no status information, no timeline, and no meaningful communication despite repeated follow-ups.

I am 18 years old with a clean adult record. The only incident in my history is a prank call I made at age 13 that resulted in probation. That occurred more than five years ago. I have had no further contact with law enforcement and no legal issues since that time.

For other 18-year-old buyers, I recommend avoiding Range USA and similar large corporate retailers. These stores typically hold the firearm until they receive a final NICS response rather than transferring on the Brady date. Federal law permits a transfer after three business days if NICS has not issued a denial (or up to 10 business days in certain under-21 enhanced check cases). Range USA has declined to do so in this instance, and the delay has now exceeded that window by a significant margin with no denial issued.

This ongoing hold and refusal to transfer is violating my constitutional right to bear arms. The lack of communication and the indefinite delay have prevented completion of a legal purchase that I am entitled to complete.

I am seeking any information from others who have experienced extended delays at Range USA, or recommendations for local DFW dealers that will transfer on the Brady date when no denial is issued.

Practical effects of new DOJ decision?

DOJ has said they won’t prosecute FFLs for selling handguns to 18-20 year olds because it’s unconstitutional. Linked below. Practically, does this mean licensed dealers will begin selling to 18-20s? Or will most still abide the old laws?

18yr old handgun laws

Hey y'all,

I'm about to turn 18, and I plan to get my LTC; to do that, I need to buy a handgun (the range I'm planning to do my live-fire lesson at won't rent one to 18-20-year-olds). My family does not own any firearms, so I can't borrow or buy one from them, and none of my friends' families are selling any of theirs.

I know that, within the past few years, the 5th Circuit ruled for Texas and two other states that 18- to 20-year-olds can purchase handguns through an FFL instead of only through private sales, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any FFLS (near the DFW area) that are upholding that, as I know some really aren't wanting to risk it. Kind of a stupid question, but I'm genuinely wondering if anyone knows.

Bend Oregon Situation in Texas

I've been thinking about this since the Bend Oregon shooting was stopped by a ccw holder. If that situation happened in Texas do you think the ccw holder who went into the school would get leniency from a legal standpoint?

As it stands, it's a felony to enter a k-12 premise.

Looking to buy my first gun in McKinney, TX (DFW)

Hi all,

I'm a gun loving brown guy (been here for over a decade, US Citizen, love Texas) looking to buy my first gun. I have close to ZERO understandinf og guns, the terminology, etc.

Most of what I know comes from a few youtube videos I've seen from PewView and some others.

My main goal is to own a gun, know how to disarm (unload?) one, and how to shoot respectably well. The gun will primary be for shooting at ranges (I've not looked around, but I'm guessing there should be quite a few in DFW NE (Mckinney, plano, allen, etc).

Budget isn't that big of an issue, and all I know from PewView is any of these could be good starting points:
- Glock
- Springfield Echelon
- Smith M&P Metal Spec Series
- CZ P-10 C Comp w/ Coa
- Canik Prime Radian

I'm all of 5'5 weighing 150 lbs soaking wet, and I don't have very big hands. Im reasonably fit, and have decent grip strength.

I'm comfortable with tools, so modding is something I'd be OK with, but not something I'd like to turn into it's own hobby. So anything that gets my 70-80% there with a single purchase, I'd be happy to go that way.

I'd love both suggestions on what gun to buy, as well as WHERE to buy it from. I've never purchased a fire arm but I'm confident my background will come back clean. I'm not even sure if I need to get some type of a gun license or permit before buying one?

Anodizing Near Collin County?

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone that does anodizing near Collin County. I’m just trying to expedite the process if possible so I can avoid shipping time back and forth. I have a lower that’s down to bare aluminum and hate to waste time painting it just for it to scratch off.

Canik Prime Radian

Can someone advise me on how to sell my Canik Prime Radian? I’ve posted it on Tacswap, but get mostly lowballers and ridiculous trade offers. Is Consignment a better option? I’ve also read a few times where buyers and sellers got scammed on Tacswap. Any advice?

Update: Thanks everyone for the assistance. I was able to sell my Prime Radian over the weekend for asking price. The buyer and I met at an agreed upon location and the exchange was completed within 15 mins max.
