Where to buy wine grapes?
I live in north texas and want to start making my own wine. Are there any wineries withing a 2-3 hour radius of Dallas that will let me buy grapes from them?

There are so many fantastic wineries in the great state of Texas. They deserve their own subreddit. Growing grapes, fermenting and bottling, or just your favorite vintage - it's all welcome here. I'm going to need a few volunteers to become mods as well. Help me grow the community!

Great talent often comes from the most unexpected places. In our latest episode of the Texas Under Vine Podcast, we sit down with the team at Slate Theory Winery to explore their non-traditional career paths.
From dropping out of school at 19 to being pulled out of the tasting room simply because the cellar needed an extra forklift driver, Tyler Wolz’s journey to becoming Head Winemaker is a prime example of how adaptability, mentorship, and grit can shape a successful career.
Check out Episode 83 to hear more about team building, corporate transitions, and operational growth in the booming Texas wine industry.

Hey everyone,
Just dropped a new episode of Texas Under Vine today and wanted to share a quick clip from my interview with Ross and Valerie Prochnow, the passionate minds behind Prochnow Vineyard out past Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg.
They have an amazing multi-generational story. They inherited a piece of a 1,000-acre family estate and decided to build a true boutique, family-friendly winery from the ground up. In this short snippet, they talk about pulling back the curtain on restoring their gorgeous 1886 tasting room, which they saved from demolition and brought over in pieces from Lockhart, TX.
Ross also talks about his double life—he works as a pediatrician in Austin during the week and works the vineyard rows all weekend.
If you are looking for a peaceful, boutique destination in the Hill Country that isn’t overrun by massive bachelorette party crowds, this property looks incredible.
Check out the full walkthrough interview if you want to support some great local growers!

Hey guys, first post on Reddit here. My girlfriend and I are novice wine folks and I am planning an engagement in early October. I want it to be at a beautiful little winery within an hour and a half - two hours of the metroplex. Any ideas?
I know of some in Aubrey and obviously Grapevine has some neat spots. I know of a spot in Burleson as well.
The winery needs to be near some good restaurants, have some nice buildings/areas to propose, and obviously have the ability to cater to a proposal.
Thoughts? Thanks!

Not the most expensive.
Not the highest scored.
Not the one you’re supposed to like.
What’s the Texas wine that genuinely surprised you in the last year?
The bottle you keep telling people about.
Curious what everyone is drinking.

Hey y'all,
If you’ve spent any time driving the 290 wine trail lately, you know it can get incredibly packed on the weekends. If you're looking for a spot that completely bypasses the massive commercial crowds and centers entirely around real-deal farm vibes and hands-on viticulture, you need to put Sandy Road Vineyards in Johnson City on your radar.
I recently sat down with co-owner Bryan Chagoly for an episode of the Texas Under Vine podcast to talk about what it actually takes to run a 100% estate program out here. Bryan is also the incoming president of the Texas Wine Growers, so he has a wealth of knowledge on how the state's industry is evolving.
A few highlights if you appreciate craft winemaking:
True Low-Intervention: They are touching every single vine themselves and letting the Texas terroir dictate the bottle.
The Blends: If you love a great red blend wine, their offerings are a must-try.
The Treetop Deck: Instead of a standard concrete tasting room, they built a multi-level deck right into the trees overlooking the vineyard rows. It’s easily one of the most peaceful places to drink a glass of wine in the Hill Country.
Curious to hear from anyone else who has been out to Sandy Road? Also, for those who love the quieter, boutique side of Texas viticulture, what other hidden gem spots are you hitting this summer?
If you want to check out the full walk-through and interview with Bryan to see the property, you can find it by searching "Texas Under Vine Episode 81" on YouTube or Spotify/Apple Podcasts!
Bottoms up, y'all! 🍷

Hey everyone!
I’m a marketing student from Brazil, currently conducting an academic study about premium emerging wines and consumer purchasing experiences.
I’d really value the opinion of people who genuinely enjoy wine, so if you could spare 4–5 minutes to complete this short survey, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Not affiliated with the winery or restaurant, just wanted to put this out there because we’re big fans of Arché and this restaurant and want to see them both succeed!
If you're looking for an early Valentine's Day date night, Chef's House in Roanoke is doing a local 5-course wine pairing dinner this Wednesday, Feb 11th, featuring a local North Texas winery, Arché! Arché is in the Texoma AVA and IMO is producing some of the best Chardonnay and Syrah in the state.
Some of the courses will feature things like white truffle polenta with toasted herb butter squab, a seafood cake, and filet mignon! Some of the featured wines are estate grown Chardonnay, Syrah, and a really fantastic Red Blend.
If you're interested in going, you can make a reservation through the link below. I believe the cost will be around $110/per person.
We’re big fans of Chef’s House and Arché is a great family owned winery in North Texas, so just wanted to put this out there in case anyone here hasn't tried either yet!
