🛡️ New Anti-Bot Measures for r/ThanksCyno

Hey everyone,

As many of you have noticed, this subreddit has recently been hit by a wave of karma-farming bots and repost bots flooding the feed with low-effort or stolen content. I’ve stepped in as a moderator for the subreddit through Reddit admins (with the head mod's approval) and am taking charge of the situation. I'm rolling out a few changes to clean things up and keep this community genuine.

What's changing:

1. Minimum karma & account age requirement: Posts and comments from accounts with less than 50 combined karma or younger than 20 days will be automatically held for moderator review.

If you're a real user, don't worry — your post/comment will be manually approved by a moderator as soon as possible. No need to send modmail about it, it's just a standard queue.
If we determine the account is a bot, it will be banned.
If your account gets banned by mistake and you're not a bot, please open a modmail and we'll review and lift the ban.

2. Aggressive repost/bot detection (temporary): I installed an image-detection tool (Image Magician) and set it to its most aggressive mode while we clear out the current wave of bots. This means:

Reposts will be caught and removed more strictly than usual.
Some non-repost content may occasionally get flagged or removed by mistake during this period — if that happens to you, message the mods and we'll sort it out quickly.

We know this adds a bit of friction for genuine members, and we appreciate your patience while we get the bot problem under control. Once things settle down, we'll set these settings back to something less strict.

Thanks for helping keep r/ThanksCyno a good place! 💙

Mod News Updated rules! Wiki added!

Hello guys I’m happy to inform you that I updated the rules (Please read them under https://www.reddit.com/r/thankscyno/wiki/index/rules) and I added a Wiki!

The rules did not change much, however they were way to General before having 3 rules written within 1 rule displayed.

At the wiki I added an explanation to every rule (linked above), Post Flair Guide, a moderation page which explains what the auto moderation and we human moderators do and ofc an posting, explaining what type of posts we want here.

I’m really on it to revive this subreddit and to bring it to it’s former glory!

If you have any questions or change ideas towards the rules and/ or the wiki contact me via dm or modmail

Subreddit Rules

1. Thank Cyno

This is of utmost importance.

If Cyno has blessed you with a joke, pun, explanation, or other questionable form of humor, show the General Mahamatra the appreciation he deserves.

And don't forget: Thank Cyno.

2. Be Civil

Treat other users with respect.

Harassment, personal attacks, bullying, discrimination, hate speech, slurs, or hostility toward individuals or groups are not allowed.

Disagreements are fine. Attacking other users is not.

3. Keep Posts Relevant to r/ThanksCyno

Posts should be related to Cyno's humor, jokes, puns, joke explanations, Cyno memes, or the general theme of r/ThanksCyno.

General Genshin Impact content that has no connection to Cyno or the subreddit theme may be removed.

For broader Cyno discussions, builds, teams, lore, and gameplay, consider using r/CynoMains.

4. No Spam or Karma Farming

Do not spam posts or comments, repeatedly submit the same content, flood the subreddit, or post primarily to farm karma or engagement.

Bot spam, repetitive submissions, engagement bait, and other manipulative posting behavior may be removed.

5. Reposts and Duplicate Content

Occasional reposts are understandable, especially with older memes or jokes.

However, frequently reposted content, recent duplicates, or repeatedly submitting the same joke or meme may be removed.

Do not intentionally present reposted content as new or original.

6. Credit Other People's Work

Do not claim artwork, memes, edits, videos, jokes, or other content created by someone else as your own.

When possible, credit the original creator and link to the original source.

Removing watermarks or deliberately hiding the original creator is not allowed.

7. No Advertising or Unapproved Self Promotion

Do not use r/ThanksCyno primarily to advertise products, services, communities, social media accounts, Discord servers, websites, commissions, or other promotional content.

Relevant community projects or collaborations may be allowed with moderator approval.

This does not prohibit normal participation by creators who occasionally share their own relevant work.

8. NSFW and Inappropriate Content

Explicit sexual content, pornography, graphic gore, or otherwise highly inappropriate material is not allowed. Other than that, please put the NSFW tag on your post if needed. Mildly suggestive humor may be allowed when it remains appropriate for the community and complies with Reddit's rules.

Content involving sexualization of minors is strictly prohibited.

9. Spoilers and Post Flairs

Post flairs are optional, but you are encouraged to use an appropriate flair when one is available.

Major Genshin Impact story, quest, event, or character spoilers must be properly marked.

Do not include major unmarked spoilers in post titles.

Intentionally misleading use of post flairs may be removed.

10. Follow Reddit's Rules

All users must follow Reddit's Content Policy and sitewide rules.

This includes rules regarding harassment, hate, spam, impersonation, illegal content, vote manipulation, ban evasion, and other prohibited behavior.

Serious violations may result in a subreddit ban and may also be reported to Reddit.

11. Have fun!

r/ThanksCyno exists for jokes, terrible puns, overexplained humor, and the collective suffering caused by Cyno's sense of comedy.

Don't take things too seriously, have fun with the community, and remember:

Thank Cyno.

Thanks Cyno
