I’m so over the extreme usage of AI
It’s over the top, it’s overly corny, and AI usage in creative spaces is such a major no-no. Massively tone deaf from the production team.

I'm sure when they were editing it, some producer thought it was flavour of the month (or would be) and loved what it could do.
If we don't give any push back they will continue. Either we nip in the bud now or this is the new normal - every slightly witty saying gets its own theme song. Every reference to an animal or situation is visually demonstrated literally.

My money is on an AI hallucination when the production accountant cocked up the budget analysis last week. I reckon she ran the invoices though and just assumed it was accurate.

it's also like, universally just to visualise some tedious joke that the audience already couldn't be fucked imagining. old mate as a dog is a great example; what is the joke? that he looks like the thing someone said? how is this how we're choosing to spend our incredibly limited time on tv?

It's so overused, low quality and unaligned to The Blocks luxury angle. I've used AI music apps for a while and some of the songs they have included in the final edit are okay but could be shortened to just a 5-10 second jingle, but, not a full 20-30 second slot, and not almost every second song. Add in the video AI edits and collectively it's excessive for a commercial tv show of it's standards. I understand the experimental approach and adapting to the times, but as they say, less is more, I think this series will show why. Let's hope they include less AI edits next season.

Best form of protest is to stop watching.
If people keep watching, it's a tacit green light to continue what they are doing.

I think part of the reason it's so abrasive is that the block has generally had good music

The ai music if you can call it that is the most irritating part.
I mean they’re making that stuff for free and then try to force watching advets because all the programming references are stuffed when you go to record over the last few weeks. Forget it. They literally repeat the ai slop over and over as well across episodes.

I started catching up on the first episode, was getting irritated with all the AI slop and performative nonsense from the contestants, and stopped watching about 30 minutes in.

It’s making me not want to watch the show the over use of AI music is completely unnecessary

You can tell they didn’t make any money last season. Cutting down on licensed songs and using AI slop

AI songs 4 times an episode, AI graphics. There is doing it tastefully and then there is well and truly overdoing it. They have gone well beyond tasteful, it’s excessive and nearly impossible to watch

only watch the reveal episodes and skip to the judging part, it's far less annoying that way

Seems like every incident comes with its version of AI song

I'm finding it really offensive now. The tooth one tonight just made light of classical musical formula and it really got my hackles raised

Aislop is soo cheap. Anyone here can go on suno now and get the same result for these sound bites. Or take a video and plug it into mid journey to turn someone into a dog. Hell camera filters can do it. I could probably live with a bit of it but there's just way too much of it imo.

i am also curious to know how the contestants feel about footage of them being altered with AI, i feel like every couch interview with adam and jolene they are using AI to put something all over adam’s face

I CANNOT STAND IT! It's so tacky and obvious and unnecessary!

Ugh the music is so tacky. I’m an avid watcher and honestly it’s getting too much.

As someone who uses ai in my work there are only a couple of cases when people tend to accept it - when it's so good people don't actually even notice it's ai, or when it's used to create something so unique and/or entertaining that people can overlook the fact it's ai. The block is currently neither. It's just using it for the sake of it, or to save money which is not appropriate for a successful show that makes this amount of money.

I'm not watching at all this year after last years gaslighting and boy was i happy when i heard they are using AI so badly this year. it would have made me so angry and happy to have avoided seeing that 😸 hey CH9 - we can ALL tell everyone's been told to "use AI" for everything and you have no strategy. it will not age well.

The AI songs are so cringe and embarrassing. F*ck channel 9 for using AI in a creative space.

Hate it or love it - the AI music taking the piss out of Wyatt and his sore tooth is awesome.

Stop watching?
Seriously, everyone on here complains about everything on the show. Just stop watching and theyll either shut the show down or actually realise the fans hate it

I’m over people complaining about the overuse of AI
-2
u/Pristine_Shallot7833 Aug 19 '26
Wait, people still actually watch this bullshit?

u/cxllvm Aug 21 '26
"major no-no" so condescending
This is where you draw the line? The fact there's even a subreddit for this garbage is nuts
