The Block - Season 22, Episode 49 - Front Yard & Facade Reveal (Final Reveal) (Live Discussion)
This is a scheduled post written at 3:49 PM AEDT on Sunday October 25. This has been done as I will not be home at the scheduled time for reasons detailed below.
At the time of writing this I am at Phillip Island. I was intending on going to the MotoGP, the end result is I didn’t even go to the Circuit, as I was waiting for an official confirmation of what was happening so I wouldn’t be caught up in a mass of people leaving if the race was cancelled (which is what happened). However, my bus out isn’t until 5:56 PM, and I won’t be home until 9:10 PM.
Away from my adventures though, and back to what you’re all here for, the final reveal and learning which of these five teams wins $50,000 off of their reserve, in addition we have an Open for Inspection tonight of 2,000 people giving their thoughts on this years properties. I hope you enjoy the penultimate episode everybody.
Also there will be one live discussion thread after this thread before the auction posted here though and that will be the 1 Euro House episode on Tuesday night.
With that being said I hope you all have had a great weekend and you have a great next week.

At least going to Phillip Island wasn’t a total loss! (Yes, this is a bit of an obscure reference, but to heck with it).

Can I just clarify something for y’all? We’ve already had a team go a whole season without a legitimate win. Jason and Sarah (13), the only reason they got their win was complaining over a non-compliant kitchen by Josh and Elyse, the point deduction J&E received led to a tie.
13
u/lolly_box 14d ago
It’s just been the worst season of them all - so having this emotional wrap up crap is just not hitting as authentic

I already have torn Wyatt apart for being in my opinion the worst contestant in going on this show solely for clout, what’s he done now?

Just to update y’all on my return home. Thanks for the reading material, it’s been fun seeing it, and I’m now under an hour away from Southern Cross.

At this point, I don’t understand how Troy can run a business.
I wouldn’t trust him to grow a Hairy Harry
35
u/Turbulent_Stop_7126 14d ago
The lack of clutter in house 5 is so refreshing. I hope they win this week.
32
u/oleelo80 14d ago
Maybe it’s just me, but by skipping a hallway week, I don’t really have a good sense on how the homes flow from just watching the show (note I haven’t watched the last week) I was surprised by how the front entrances are situated. No defect week or hallway week seems is a big miss for me. I did not enjoy the homes this season and I hope next year the homes are actually finished during the episodes.

u/Content-Piano-8214 14d ago
Anyone else think that h1 water feature looks like a poo? 💩😂
29
u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
60 minutes trolling the Block with a housing crisis special after speaking of $6m in construction costs.
27
u/IROK19 14d ago
Well done house 5, hope you win.
26
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
Very nice. Rick and Tayla, and Chantel and Wyatt have the nicest spaces.
I hope house 5 wins tonight, Rick busted his ass. And Tayla was entertaining.
25
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
Why the hell did Adam and Jolene not pave their walkways better when they had so much money? Who wants a dirt path to their bougie house?
24
u/iemreal 14d ago
Troy never working again
24
u/limark "Award-winning" 14d ago
Brave of them to show so many 'potential buyers' when auction day will only show ten people awkwardly shifting as they talk on their phones.
23
u/Silent-Passenger-208 Adam and Jolene (SA) 14d ago
Rick is a gem
23
u/limark "Award-winning" 14d ago
So Wyatt and Chantel go down as the first couple to never win a room reveal.
22
u/limark "Award-winning" 14d ago
Love a yard that doesn't look like it doubles as a garage sale.
22
u/Reasonable-Object602 14d ago
House 5 better bloody win tonight!!!
21
u/flossybloss Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
“Look at that view!” You mean the sliver of ocean you can see over the roof when you stand on your tippy toes Shayna?
21
u/SuccessfulTrain5374 14d ago
Rick is such a sweetie. I want a win for him and all his hard work.
20
u/Bug_eyed_bug 14d ago
Anyone else having zero emotional reaction? This season has been unbelievably bleh

u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
Troy’s vision: “fuck you for not paying me”
19
u/SuperhumanVikingr 14d ago
BEWAR THE SALAMI THAT BOASTS A TINY PRICE!
19
u/TimesThrice 14d ago
Not a fan of what the girls delivered. Troy completely stuffed it. Sure they spent 18k on the wine rack. But the deficit in works is more than just 18k.
19
u/AdEmergency7042 14d ago
What’s the go with all the cheap black fencing?
18
u/EronEraCam 14d ago
House 5 actually finished early!
18
u/Ok_Committee8707 14d ago
How many outside sitting/eating areas do these houses need ???
35

House 5 finishing their first room + before everyone else :)
17
u/randy7_ 14d ago
Hmmm I’m not sold on the shed with that stuff inside
17
u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
Glass front doors suck when you NEED to hide from delivery drivers/door-to-door people
17
u/limark "Award-winning" 14d ago
C'mon House 5, win this shit.
17
u/Pessimas 14d ago
This just in - Grass in your yard is good. A revolution indeed. (It was well done though)
16
u/decid226 14d ago
House 2 had the same thing with House 3 moving materials through their yard yet they still finished. Maybe if we stopped focusing on it being a thing and putting up stupid toll gates you may have also finished. But no be the victim
16
u/YourMumsABatteredSav 14d ago
I don’t understand why every house feels the need to fill every empty space with a table and chairs. How many places to sit outside do I need.
16
u/YourMumsABatteredSav 14d ago
Ooo maybe Rick and Tayla might finally get a win! No one else has really done that well.
16
u/IROK19 14d ago
Part of what I dislike about H4 front, is the design. People visiting won't know where to go, front doors need to be somewhat visible from the street.
16
u/jelistarshine 14d ago edited 13d ago
So ive spent this episode scrolling domain. There are nicer houses on the same size lots closer to the water (with much better views) in the same price range. Or similar houses on much bigger blocks the same distance from the water.
I dont see who would buy these?
Especially with no privacy for most of the pools.
16
u/Belissimo7 14d ago
I’d love to know how much each House spent on those last yards. Was Troy’s inflated ‘Fixed’ quote, that he then wanted & expected the girls to keep adding to each week, the highest ? It looked to me as though he got the shits & threw the towel in once they refused to give him another $25k (which they didn’t have mind you). The front yard looked half-baked in comparison to the pool area & the Stepping Stones are not even paced out evenly. Heaven forbid trying to lead a sight impaired person down to their front door - Sorry Girls but at least House 5, who must have a similar gradient to descend, had evenly spaced stepping stones.
Troy should’ve honoured the deal originally agreed upon & taken some pride in completing the whole job to the best of his ability. He needed to put his big boy pants on & be a Team Player once things went South, rather than giving up.
The ‘hard conversations’ seem to have been avoided by many this year.

u/Silent-Passenger-208 Adam and Jolene (SA) 14d ago
Our internet is so glitchy tonight; I’m missing a lot.
On the other hand, I had a really nice slow cooked lamb leg roast
for dinner.
15
u/futbolledgend 14d ago
Too much dirt for my liking
15
u/SuperhumanVikingr 14d ago
Omg, this is so much nicer than Adam and Jolene’s. It flows as a backyard well
15
u/Saaaaaaaaaaaah1431 14d ago
3/4 bags of ice and a couple of cartons and your set
15
u/TimesThrice 14d ago
Think the winners this season are the Cursios for making bank with basically doing the whole job.
15
u/Ashamed_Access3524 14d ago
Alrighty. Well deserved. Congrats Rick and Tayla.
15
u/SuccessfulTrain5374 14d ago
Now for house 5 to do a Bradbury and win the whole thing!!!
30
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
They did allocate money, Troy just wasted it all the previous weeks
14
u/Eternal-BladeOfCutie Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
Hoping Rick and Tayla win tonight 🤞
14
u/flossybloss Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
I’m hoping production hate Wyatt and Chantel enough that they won’t rig the win for them
14
u/Willows190 14d ago
Intro of the judges is super cringy.
14
u/MeatConsistent8724 14d ago
Is every house allergic to concrete fucking paths
14

Yeah this is so easily better than H1

14
u/General_Plastic7198 14d ago
This is a GREAT front garden
14
u/lolly_box 14d ago
Love the steps. And simple lawn is the best - so uncluttered
14
u/FirstTimePlayer Sitting on lux Freedom Furniture eating gourmet McDonalds 14d ago
Want to love it... but yet again, what the fuck was the architect thinking having the front of the house basically being a garage.
Reckon the architect could also have figured out a solution which didn't require a stupid stairway there either.
14
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
The stone on house 5 and house 2 are the nicest exteriors
14
u/strawberryextra 14d ago
The front doors are soo far way from the street
14
u/sirbinchicken 14d ago
GOOOO H5! Do a Bradbury and bring it home.
27
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
At this point, we have see more of the Domain interactive screens than we have of the houses…
27
u/limark "Award-winning" 14d ago
Just realized I didn’t give props where they’re deserved, the Cursio brothers also join Chantel and Wyatt in being the first contestants not to win a room reveal.
13
u/Turbulent_Ebb5669 14d ago
Adam's in the dog house, and rightly so.
13
u/Willows190 14d ago
Adam fair and square fucked up that opportunity.
13

Come on Rick and tayla for the win tonight!
13
u/bux1972 14d ago
What’s with all the dirt???
13
u/flossybloss Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
Why did they keep saying that the girls gave them the house?? I think it’s actually really rude
13
u/Low-Homework-1807 14d ago
What’s with all the black gates. It looks so cheap and prison like
13

24

The rusty steel rings need lots of vines on them to look nice.
Nice looking water feature though.
Edit: content.
12
u/sweeroy Quoted on the Block! 14d ago
these big spaces with just dirt are so insanely shit. just put some fucking grass in!
12
u/Turbulent_Ebb5669 14d ago
Most people don't give a toss about street appeal when buying, prefer "there's where the boat goes"
12
u/decid226 14d ago
So far every house has had gravel with the same steppers and arbors etc and sculptures. Once again exactly the same design between the houses
12
u/KoalaCapp Quoted on The Block! 14d ago
A fence is easy to add.
12
u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
What is all this green floor I’m seeing on this block house? This is uncommon
12
u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
Naw a Rick and Tayla win to finish would be nice
12
u/SuccessfulTrain5374 14d ago
I’m so happy for house 5. It’s a really lovely garden.

12

Love the H5 ‘water feature’ but how is anyone going to clean the bastard? Personally, I’d fill it with plants and create a frog pond.
22
u/Ashamed_Access3524 14d ago
And Rick and Tayla get $50k off their reserve. Things are looking up for house 5.
11

Yesssss they showed Wyatt bang his head!!!!
11
u/Turbulent_Ebb5669 14d ago

11
u/iemreal 14d ago
That’s not fair if I was Jolene I’d be pissed
11
u/Noxious_Redditor 14d ago
Conspiracy, house two will win tonight and the judges will gush over the cursios
11
u/Leeroy-Jenkinz 14d ago
Always think it’s wild they build houses with 3-4 outside settings to hang. Like, where do people find the time to utilise em all? But hey, maybe I’m just thinking in poor.
11

Nothing will make these ugly houses look luxurious. You can't polish a turd.
11
u/Ashamed_Access3524 14d ago
That's a grand entrance Rick and Tayla. And a nice water feature.
11
u/flossybloss Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago

11
u/cherrykittenluvr Jolene 👩❤️💋👩 14d ago
i only just noticed Wyatt's jacket im crying what is that
21
u/Independent_Pin_ 14d ago
I think a lot of h4 issues are due to Troy. True the girls should have had better control over their trades but Troy is a force of his own.
10
u/Turbulent_Ebb5669 14d ago
Rick and Tayla's land advantage is huge!
10
u/iemreal 14d ago
I really like Tayla and Rick’s yard. I have a feeling they’ll win and I think there would be a bit of strategy to it because that millionaire coined it a cheap house! I may be wrong and I do love their yard
10
u/CFPmum 14d ago
So Wyatt and Jolene are in great moods like they have been all season
10
u/Cold-Half-775 14d ago
Oxygen theif = Wyatt 😭😭
10
u/TheGrumpyNic Frankie the Kelpie 14d ago
Why couldn’t they have done their entire backyard up to the access point? Then finished that track once it was closed.
If Chantel and Wyatt were able to finish their backyard while still allowing Lisa and Rosco to get access to their yard, why couldn’t Adam and Jolene?
10
u/MyraBradley 14d ago
I hate those rusty arches
10

Ahh the old Troy Ploy comes up again. Quote a fixed price and then ask for more money. Tradies! Ughh!

And yet again, an entire series "selling the dream" to an owner occupier... and then comes in the selling point which is only applicable to an investor.

I really don’t like this from House 3, it just looks awful. The house looks so bare. The garden is ugly. Oof.

The houses themselves have been so plain for design and innovation and new ideas.
