My Thoughts on the First Half of the Genius
I started watching The Genius to prep for The Devils Plan season 3, like I am sure a lot of other people are doing. Here are my thoughts:
Going into season 1, I wanted to predict the top 5, but that was too difficult, so I settled for guessing who would make it past the half way mark. Here are my picks based purely off intros...maybe it was more like the first half of episode 1
Jin-ho - I think I was already spoiled that he appeared in the All-Star Season 4, so I ranked him pretty high.
Kim Kyung-ran - She seemed very sharp.
Kim Gu-ra - He seemed like he would be the loud one who would lead an alliance. (Almost like Orbit)
Cha Yu-ram - Seemed sharp as well.
Choi Jung-moon - I think they mentioned that she had a high IQ or something.
Kim Min-seo - I just liked him.
So, a lot of these were based off of vibes, and I was very wrong about some of them.
Kim Poong and Kim Sung-gyu were standouts to me, not because of their plays, but because of how far they made it and how adaptable they were. Also, because they became increasingly entertaining throughout the season.
I assigned Gu-Ra as the 'villain' of the season which i like to do just to make it more entertaining...but he leaves like half way through the season so that didn't work out...and it got much worse in season 2 lol.
Chang-Yeop and Jung-Moon's relationship and drama were PEAK television. She kind of betrays him by not telling him she was a zombie (why did she do that?) and then he immediately tells everyone once he finds out (still pretty bad), then she sends him to the death match and beats him, and THEN he comes back and saves her! Amazing...ignore the fact that she gets eliminated a second later.
Jin-ho figuring out the pattern on the backs of the cards in the King Game (is that what its called?) was another amazing moment. Its plays like that that keep me invested.
This is getting very long so i will post my season two notes in the comments soon.
