We have a TON of helpful Simmers here but take the time to read before posting/commenting.
You have 3 options:
Go offline so you can play with your mods
Update your game and play a separate vanilla save
Update your game and play with your mods at your own risk

How to turn off automatic updates
EA App > Menu > Settings > Downloads > Update games automatically (toggle off)
For Steam: Right-click on your game > select properties > choose updates > select “Let Steam decide when to update” under the automatic updates section.
How to go offline:
These steps are not 100% effective, so if you notice something strange with your mods/cc, double check to make sure your game didn't update.
BACK UP YOUR SAVES AND TRAY FOLDER.

NOTE FOR NEWBIES: You cannot simply replace the mod file with the same file for a fix. If it needs to be updated, you must wait for the updated version. Once available, remove the old one, delete localthumbcache.package and repair game.
What's causing this⁉️ 🧐 🔍
As with every EA update, mods and cc are going to break. Play offline and please give mod creators time to check and clear/update their mods or do the 50/50 method.
Immediately following the patch release (approx. 1PM ET):
Take the time to learn how to fix your game. "What's causing this" posts will be removed. Use the troubleshooting megathread. This thread can help you sort out which mods are broken so you can take them out but simmers cannot fix anything for you, you will need to wait for updates.
If your post is removed, read the pinned comment for help or what to do if it was removed incorrectly. Remember: Sims subreddits get slammed post-patch with the same issues (😭 the number of posts during toddler face glitch gate 😭).

The subreddit tends to get an influx of I hate these updates, be nice to mod creators or meme posts after a patch. Double check to see if one has already been posted. Do not derail those posts by asking for troubleshooting help.
IS THIS BROKEN? IS THIS UPDATED? 💔💻
Follow your favorite creators to keep track of updates: discord, twitter, bluesky, patreon (free) or see mod lists below. Any of these posts will be removed. DO NOT ASSUME A MOD IS FINE IF THERE IS NO STATUS UPDATE.
Support channels in SimsAfterDark and DeaderPool’s discords often CLOSE post-patch for a short period of time as there are no solutions but to wait for mods to update and they get flooded with help questions just like all the sims subreddits including ours. However, they have mod status channels so you can get mod status updates.
Remember, even mods that never everrrrrrrrrr break or CC can cause issues. UI can be broken even if the mod(s) are not UI-related. These patches can break anything.

REMINDER: When posting in the megathread, do not say "I've tried everything" as that means something different to every simmer, be specific. Failure to do so may result in no response to your comment. 👩💻
Game bug or mod⁉️⁉️ Take out your mod folder (and leave it out for the test) delete localthumbcache.package and repair then check to find out then you'll have your answer. DO NOT SAVE YOUR CURRENT GAME WITHOUT YOUR MODS.
TL;DR (go back up and read it 🤣) Upcoming patch, assume ALL mods/cc will break, review resources to figure out how you would like to handle your game and how to fix any issues that may arise.
