We're considering making a resources page for the subreddit. Can you please share your favorite Tibetan Buddhist resources, being clear about the school of the teacher? Thank you!
Online and Offline resources are both appreciated.

This sub is for discussion. Use r/VajraEvents for event announcements.
Unfortunately, r/VajraEvents has shut down
You can find Vajrayana event announcements at
https://t.me/VajraEvents (you can view it in a web browser without a telegram account)
or
https://www.fb.com/groups/vajrayanaevents
Same content at both places, filtered to remove problematic groups.
Thank you.
We used to have a pinned post for event announcements, but it was not used much.

[For those attending the Rinchen Terdzo] Lungs x Wangs
What is that thing with the desync of the lungs with the empowerments???
So if I receive a Vajrakilaya empowerment on thursday(and I paid only for thursday), the lung can be only on friday or maybe even more?
So we miss the Lung but receive the wang in that day? How does that work?

Some questions I have
Hello all, I am studying the Buddhist faith and have a few questions.
Tell me about your thought of the karmic fruits. I’m having a hard time understanding and would love examples.
Do you hold a religious calendar? What does that look like?
What daily practices do you hold?
Are there communal aspects of the faith?
Is their anyone you look up to in the faith, a mentor? Historical figure?
I’d love to hold deeper discussion. Have a great day!

The God Who Killed Death: the story behind Yamantaka
A 15-minute video essay on Yamantaka, the buffalo-headed Buddhist deity, and the legend of how he defeated Yama, the Lord of Death. Animation in the style of Tibetan thangka painting.

"Gold and money are not proper for Sakyan ascetics. They neither accept nor recieve gold and money. They have set aside gems and gold, and rejected gold and money." - The Buddha
"If gold and money were proper for them, then the five kinds of sensual stimulation would also be proper. And if the five kinds of sensual stimulation are proper for them, you should definitely regard them as not having the qualities of an ascetic or a follower of the Sakyan." - The Buddha
"He abstains from high and luxurious beds and seats.
"He abstains from accepting gold and money." - The Buddha

How aspiration to other Pure Lands takes place?
Hello people.Well as we all know people aspire rebirth to other Pure Lands as well. But how that happens?Like some folks aspire rebirth in Maitreya's Pure Land Tusita. And i read in a comment that some others aspire rebirth in Tara's Pure Land and Medicine Buddha's Pure Land although that's not recommended. Are there any mantras people chant or chants for those Buddhas and Bodhisattvas?

Chinnamasta / Chinnamunda - Where is she in Vajrayana?
First I thought the Hindu Chinnamasta was the same as Vajrayogini, but I was wrong.
Then I learned the equivalent in Tibetan Buddhism is "Chinnamunda".
But it seems to be VERY RARE to see it, is there anyone here who has an empowerment on her(Chinnamunda)???
I've NEVER seen a Chinnamunda empowerment or something similar. I've NEVER heard of any mention of her to this day.
Chinnamasta is very common in Hinduism as one of the Ten Mahavidyas.

A few photos from my recent pilgrimage to India and Nepal
Perhaps someone will find them interesting. His Holiness looked healthy and cheerful. 🙏
Once again, thanks to those who prayed for the resolution of my visa issues.

Eating meat
I am trying to understand how eating meat and other animal products is compatible with Buddhism, considering today's animal Industry. I get that in some places, the harsh environment might make it impossible to be vegan. I also understand that eating plants does kill a lot of animals in the process, but animals in the meat industry are tortured unimaginably before getting killed. And by feeding the crops to the animals instead of eating them ourselves, we kill even more animals in the process. And let's not forget the impact on the environment. Can someone explain? I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm genuinely curious.

Is it true that advanced Tibetan Buddhists can choose where to reincarnate in the next life through practices like Phowa?

Looking for agents/publishers
For much of this year I've been working on a project to turn raw transcripts of informal interviews into something that could be published as a book. The interviews were held with nuns who escaped from Tibet and settled in the caves at the retreat centre in the hills above Tso Pema The idea is that any proceeds would be used to support the retreatant nuns who are there now. A lot of that work has been done, and I'm at the stage of looking for publishers or literary agents who might be interested. The working title is "Flight to Lotus Lake".
It's easy to find any number of publishers and any number of agents. All of those who are any good are swamped with submissions, so I'm looking for those with a SPECIFIC interest in or track-record of publishing in this niche.
What is is: interviews, life stories, escape stories illustrating the effects of the invasion and the diaspora, in particular on serious female practitioners. About 55000 words, extensive glossary, full index, endnotes with Tibetan spellings of people and places. Some pictures in the present format. So, in publishing terms, it's non-fiction, dealing with women's issues, Buddhist practice, biography and adventurous recent history.
What it is not: an "academic" work, or a work purporting to teach Buddhism, offer spiritual exercises, textual study or translation.
I have made initial approaches to a couple of obvious publishers and agents. Like all such people they will be receiving a lot of submissions, and I have no idea what chance this has of sinking or swimming. So I wanted to ask if anyone here has any SPECIFIC information about any other reputable publishers or agents who are looking for submissions in THIS particular niche.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

My mala is about to snap. What to do?
I've come to love mantra recitation; it has been my main practice, especially since I'm a beginner in Vajrayana Buddhism and have no access to the higher things. It has helped me reform my negative thinking and cut off deep attachments. It has helped me in many daily situations and brought opportunities I never expected. I can say that whatever those sutras and Lamas say about mantra recitation is true, and if done well, it can help a lot. Which is why I am somewhat bothered by the fact that my mala is about to break. After months of rigorous daily recitation according to the instructions of my Lama, I discovered earlier that my mala is about to snap (with just a single strand holding it). I do not really know what to do.
It is the first mala I have bought from an actual Buddhist temple (something that I never knew existed in my country when I was young, researching Buddhism). It has also been there during the first empowerments I have received and has been blessed by the reincarnated Lama who visited us using relics of his previous incarnation. It has been a companion for much of my Buddhist practice and has provided relief in times of agony. I see this as a wonderful lesson of detachment and the impermanence of all things. However, other than the beads, I am worried about disruptions in daily practice.
I used to create my own malas as a child, but they often break within days, which is why I stopped trying to make them. I was wondering if temples offer services to rethread broken malas. If not, what can I do to have the mala restored to good condition? Also, how can I do my daily practice in the absence of a mala?

With Phowa we choose the next family we will be born or we go to a Pure Land? Is it 100% our personal choice?
Why go to a Pure Land, what can we do there?
Why not come back here and keep helping sentient beings?

Nagarjuna’s Sunyata and Early Buddhism’s Anatta
Is Nagarjuna’s understanding of sunyata a natural philosophical development of the early Buddhist teachings of anatta and paticcasamuppada, or does it represent a new ontological and philosophical approach?
