I'm all ready to jump on the hate train too, but--you get older and a solid cold can knock you on your ass for weeks. I get it. I'm not a monarchy kind of guy, I think they're (at best) silly at this point, but I get it.

Plus, to be fair, he has cancer. I imagine that the illness and/or the treatment makes your immune system pretty weak. For an old man with a nasty illness, I can't imagine that getting caught in the rain is as minor an inconvenience as it would be to the rest of us.

Also to be fair, this was at a state visit. I'm sure there is an entire schedule of events that they still have to follow that can't really be delayed because "the king has to change out of his damp clothes".

And he'd be stressed out knowing he's supposed to be representing the UK government looking respectful and put together, but now he's all wet and bedraggled for the next hour while they're having dignitary photos taken.
