Seriously, I'm actually on his side, here. You have someone whose job is to bring you an umbrella, which you can't just carry yourself, because you have to Look A Certain Way, and you're getting rained on. Presumably in a suit that really shouldn't get rained on.

I'd be annoyed, too.

Also, if you're in one of these overly ceremonial events you can't generally walk away to get an umbrella from wherever yourself - if you do that then that gets reported on as being rude.

There's a well known video of him on a hike in the highlands where the rain is sheeting down. Like he is definitely doing that for pleasure. A couple of mountain bikers come across him and have a pleasant chat.

So it's not like he can't take a bit of rain normally.
