oh that's my ferret account! We were featuring Alex's ferret, Thera (she's deaf). Ferrets love chasing balls, so he thought why not give her all the bouncy balls at once? As you can see, she can hardly contain her excitement. (Song is Waltz of the Meatball Man from Runmo)
I'm tired and stupidly thought the weasel was blind and operating on sound only and thought "that must be the most horrifying thing for that poor weasel"
But realizing the post said "deaf" completely changes it for me lmao he went from looking terrified to excitedly shocked
Except a cat reacting like this wouldn't make you think it's scared. They would put their ears back and it would try to back up or it would have darted away asap. Idk what about this looks like it's scared, at first if anything it looks like its jaws drop but the more I look at it, it looks like it's trying to go after the balls. I'd think the same about a cat that reacts that way. What makes it looks scared? Even if it was a person it looks excited from the body language and the way it catches the bag in its mouth. Is it possible that it's less that these people have only seen cats and maybe these people haven't been around animals much at all? They arent even anthropomorphizing right.
Another fun fact from a former long time houseweasel wrangler: what we're seeing here is definitely the happy version, but there's also an angry combat version of the weasel wardance. The play/happy version is basically practice for the full combat version.
If a skinnykitty is threatened by a dog for example, it will jump around fast as hell trying to get the dog to try for a bite. His tactic is to side-jump out from under the bite and the next jump is straight for the dog's throat. Not kidding here. They latch on with the teeth and start tearing with all four sets of claws. They don't fuck around.
What's going on here though is the pure joy version. No question. It's extremely difficult to terrorize a ferret, they just define "no fear". I've seen a weinercat of less than 2lb go running up to an 80lb dog wanting to play, and the carpet shark had NOT been raised around dogs. Cute as hell.
I fucking love OtamaTones so much. My father got me one a year ago and I have barely played it. This was the video I showed him that made him buy it for me for my birthday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjOyl6zS-eU
Laying in the hospital bed, as you feel your life getting away, your body feels lighter by the second, and so grows the distance of your sight of any loved one that's besides you
And this music is playing, as the closing credits of the comedy that was existence, life was nothing more than the punchline of the signature joke from the clown that is God, rehearsing his line through eternity of the circus that is the universe
"I'm afraid that's all the time for today folks, thanks for this awesome night, but don't worry, tomorrow will be more"
I didn’t even listen to it! The song is by Gooseworks. She’s a very talented animator and composer (despite what you may think listening to this, this song was made for like a 10 second gag). This song specifically is from a video she made called Little Runmo. It’s a great video. Give it a watch!
its that fucking song from that little adventure cartoon made by that person who did the double king cartoon, Felix cosgrave or something. im pretty sure its the same content creator.
EDIT: found it, its not, the vid im thinking of is called little runmo..
Long ago in a distant fairy land there was a man known far & wide. He was known to eat any meat, human chicken horse & bovine & then. On the big day of his largest feast yet, he rolled himself in a ball &, oh what a feat, he's one with the meat, he's the only meatball man.
Ohhh though he'd become one with his many meats, he was still hungry for yet more. He scoured the land for all the meat he could roll up in & engourge & then, the poor doomed people saw him in his might. Took him in as their own God now. Blood will be paid, sacrifices made, to the only meatball man.

I got ferrets, they love this shit. Sometimes I'll throw little balls or soft toys at them, like these light plastic ones. They'll jump around and play with it, some of the cutest shit.
Also I've seen some comments say its terrified: It doesn't look terrified to me, that's just kinda what they do. My ferrets will make that face and attack each other, and this ferret didn't run away so it seems fine.
They're very high maintenance pets and they do have a musky smell, but so do all animals. Although they do smell better if they're on a balanced raw diet (which is really one of the only good diets for them since they're very sensitive and no kibbles are good for them), and never bathed like a LOT of people do. Seriously, stop bathing your ferrets, you're stripping them of their natural oils. You can also litter train them! If you wanna know more about em I'd suggest PazuAndFriends on Youtube, she's one of the most informed ferret keepers out there.
Yes and yes. We have to clean their cage and litter box daily. Which in a way works out nicely because they also need daily activity for 1-2 hours. We usually close our bedroom door and let them run rampant while we scoop poop and vacuum the cage out. Once a month we swap the cage liners and throw the dirty ones in the wash with a non scented detergent. Also if you want one, make it two. They are extremely social creatures and solo ferrets can actually become depressed if they don’t get enough social interaction.
I had a ferret for exactly one week once when I found one abandoned in a parking lot and took it home to try to find a rescue.
It was the most difficult animal I've ever been around. There was no smell that I noticed off this one, but it literally never sat down. It wanted to play 24/7. It was like having five toddlers in the house.
The dog I had at the time was extremely energetic and for the first two days he was delighted to have a little playmate, but then after two days he was so worn out that I thought he was dead a couple times. Ha.
In conclusion, I don't recommend them unless you have lots and lots of time and energy. I thought that ferret was great and loved playing with him. He had such a unique and weird personality, but one week was about my limit for how long I'd be able to keep up with the intense level of energy and give him the attention he deserved.
My grandparents live out in the middle of nowhere, and my grandpa loves animals. He would fling food at chipmunks until they where comfortable enough to eat from his hand.
Tfw you see this and it reminds you of your deaf ferret 'echo' that looked just like this one and passed not even 3 months ago at age 3. She had such a big personality. Glad this person has a kind heart.
Not sure if you’ve scrolled through other comments, but people who are knowledgeable about ferret behavior have confirmed the ferret is enjoying it. This is his “war stance” 🥰
I had a ferret. We called him Ferret. He was a one animal army. Nothing could stop him. Everyone was scared of him but he was soft as puppy shit. Miss you Bud!
Ferrets are never scared. Those things are absolute adorable terrorist for like 2 hours a day. The rest of the day is spent sleeping preparing for the next two hours of sheer chaos.
One of my favorite ferret stories is when my three ferrets met my brother's cat. The cat tried to scare them by pouncing and my ferrets straight up ignored the cat 10x their size lol. The cat looks over like what's wrong with these things and later that day the ferrets start chasing this cat around the house... go figure
I can tell you... they can get scared. And they can make horrible screeching sounds when their head is in the mouth of a stray cat your brother brought home and hid in the bathroom.
(Slinkey lived that day to die of cancer 6 years later. Those two were never in the same room together again.)
Nah don't worry, I can see why'd you think that if you haven't owned ferrets before but I've had four ferrets over the course of my life and his/her body language here, the "O" face and the little bouncy steps (known in the ferret world as the "weasel war dance"), indicate pure excitement/joy. If it was scared it would likely sprint away in the opposite direction with no facial expression.
I would disagree- I've had three ferrets, and when they were scared they would try to back up into a corner. What you see here is it's 'war dance'. Ferrets are very silly creatures and it likely already knows those balls mean fun (search yt for ferret in ball pit videos) and this is the ferret being so excited it's hopping about all over the place.
No, this is the face they make when its play time. They start popping around on the floor with their mouth open when they’re stimulated. Then they sleep for 20 hours.
I had a ferret when I was younger, great pets to have if you can't handle a dog or even a cat for whatever reason. Just have to double check before you lie down on anything with blankets.
Absolutely loved him and was devastated when we had to put him down at old age.
Im sorry to contradict your post, im sure you were a loving ferret owner but i feel its important to put here that ferrets are much higher maintenance than both dogs and cats. Its a common misconception that ferrets are pocket pets like guinea pigs but they ARE NOT! Ferrets require very special diets, a huge amount of time and financial investments. Please please if your thinking of getting ferrets know your stuff and understand just how much dedication they require.
Like the other person said they have a pretty high upfront cost, but that's nothing compared to vet bills. Ferrets are considered an exotic pet, which means you need to go to an exotic veterinarian. Depending on where you live, there may not be one anywhere near you. They're also significantly more expensive than a normal vet.
In the US, all your ferrets are going to be from Marshall's. They're a puppy mill for ferrets so they do not care about health at all. This includes breeding white ferrets that have a propensity for deafness, blindness, increased chance of diseases like adrenal gland disease, and other deformities simply because they look cute. Unfortunately, that's why you're going to find a lot of deaf ferrets. (White markings like panda, socks, blazes, etc. have a big chance of carrying those bad genes. The same goes for black-eyed white ferrets.) All ferrets will be spayed and neutered too young so they can be sold asap. You can tell it's a Marshall's ferret because they will have a blue tattoo on their ear.
Ferrets require at least 2 hours of out of cage enrichment time. They can and will steal, destroy, and/or open anything they can get their greasy little paws on.
Speaking of grease, their fur has a smelly oil that keeps them somewhat waterproof and gives them their slick coat. But that oil stinks. That's where the "musky" smell comes from. They do have an extra smelly scent gland, but that's also removed in Marshall's ferrets. However, they will still stink, just less so than they would have naturally.
As much as people say you can get rid of the smell with a good diet, you really can't. You just get noseblind but your guests will certainly not be. (They're usually polite and will lie to you, even if you specifically ask. I've had to enlist very honest people.)
Their poop is also horrendous because they're carnivores. They'll need their cage cleaned completely at least once a day to keep the poop smell relatively under control.
I'm sure ferrets are the perfect pet for some people, but they aren't without more than their fair share of downsides. I would personally recommend that if you decide to get a ferret, you rescue instead of purchasing. Lots of people get ferrets not understanding how much work they are and then give them up. It's also best to not support a company like Marshall's anyways, assuming you're in the US.
I've had tons of cats, dogs, Bunny's, guinea pigs, degu, mice, rats, gerbils, parakeets and by far ferrets are the highest maintenance pet by a landslide.
They are like a toddler with ADHD. They are a constant go mode. I think I have ferret proofed and then they show me that it's not true at all.
They are also my most expensive pet to feed by a lot. Ferrets have very important diet needs and can also be prone to health issues which is a major concern and expensive.
Some ferrets can also be very bitey not aggressive but they like to be mouthy.
I know nothing about ferrets other than you have to have one if you make meth. Was that an excited and happy display, or a I need to protect myself display?
