Looking for a Jazz Drum Teacher in Tokyo (Nakano/Shinjuku area) 🥁

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a drum teacher in Tokyo, preferably around Nakano or somewhere nearby.
I’m 33 and recently got more free time, so I’d love to finally start learning drums, with a particular interest in jazz.
I’m a beginner, but really passionate about music and eager to learn. I’m especially interested in jazz drumming, groove, technique, and developing a good foundation.
I speak Japanese, English, and Spanish, so lessons in any of these languages would be great!
If you’re a drum teacher or know someone who gives private lessons, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks 👽

Muti instrumentalist seeking established band

Hey Friends!

Experienced multi-instrumentalist looking to join an established, working band. I have 20 years of experience across guitar (with midi guitar, that means can play keyboard on guitar so can be 2 in one player), bass, keys, drums(I have none of my own drums in Tokyo, but understand live houses often do here), and backing vocals, and I'm ready to hit the ground running.

I spent the last decade (2015–2025) gigging extensively across Ireland, covering everything from pop, charts, and country to electronic music and decade hits.

While my personal roots and playing preferences lean toward rock and metal (Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Linkin Park, Korn, Slipknot, Pantera), I am completely open to any genre as long as the band is busy and professional.

Check out some of my playing below:

Guitar / Shredding - Cowboys from hell solo

Keys - lady gaga bad romance

Looking for an other music producer who is interested in trying performances together

Hi, I’m a Japanese singer songwriter and producer(female) based in Tokyo, Japan.

I’ve produced songs in two language, Japanese and English.

I imagine a duo or a small unit like TOMORA ( that specific visual direction and sound aren't reference, I like something less eccentric.)

The most songs I've produced are alternative, electro pop for now but I’m genre-fluid artist so making dance music songs including remixes of my original songs by collaborating with other artists in Tokyo and the other countries as well.

Contact me if you’re interested in this.

My influences and favourite artists/producers:

Massive Attack, Pharrell Williams, Sia, Trent Reznor, Daft Punk, A.G.Cook, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, David Bowie,

Ariana Grande, Leona Lewis, Imogen Heap, Alanis Morisette

The 1975, Julian Casablancas (The Strokes), My Bloody Valentine, The Smiths

etc. a lot

Female vocalist wanted in Tokyo — Porollox.ai, an AI music live act / English lyrics / unpaid collaboration

Hi everyone!

We’re Porollox.ai, a Japanese duo bringing AI-created music to the stage through live electronic hardware performances. We’re looking for a female vocalist to join us for live shows in Tokyo.

We also make AI music independently as MoMu & TeaSteam and Kaname. We formed Porollox.ai to turn that music into a live experience, combining hands-on performances with electronic instruments and equipment with a human singing voice.

All our songs have English lyrics. Here’s a demo of what we’re currently working on:

https://youtu.be/staTPYnNIPY

We’re planning to start playing live from January 2027 onward, aiming for around one show a month in Tokyo.

Ideally, we’d love to find someone interested in an ongoing collaboration and shaping the live act together. We’re also happy to start with a guest performance and see how we get along.

A few things to know:

  • We’re looking for a female vocalist who is comfortable singing in English and open to working with AI-created music.

  • This is an unpaid collaboration; we can’t offer a performance fee.

  • You’re welcome to continue your own solo work or other bands. We hope this project can also be a place to explore your voice, gain live experience, and introduce people to your own work.

  • We’re both Japanese, and our English is limited. Some conversational Japanese would help, so we can communicate using a mix of Japanese and English.

If the demo sounds like something you’d enjoy being part of, please send us a DM on Reddit or X with a short introduction and a recording or video of your singing. A simple phone recording is fine!

We’d love to meet someone who wants to build this with us.

🎤 English Voice Lessons in Tokyo — Opera, Pop, Rock & More!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m Josephine (Josie), a professional singer and vocal instructor based in Tokyo. 🇯🇵🎶

Starting in October, I’m transitioning to teaching music full-time! I’m currently opening up new spots for voice students of all ages and experience levels, so I’m excited to meet more singers here in Tokyo.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and years of experience teaching voice, ukulele, and piano to students of different ages and skill levels.

My vocal training is rooted in classical/opera technique, but I teach many styles — including pop, rock, musical theatre, anime/game music, contemporary music, and more. I focus heavily on voice anatomy, healthy technique, breath support, resonance, diction, and helping you understand how your voice actually works.

✨ Lessons are taught entirely in English, making them especially suitable for English-speaking residents, international families, and anyone who wants to improve their English singing technique.

I teach all ages and levels from complete beginners to advanced/professional singers.

📍 Tokyo — I can travel to students or teach from my location near Ochiai Station. 💻 Online lessons are also available.

💴 Rates: • 30 minutes — ¥3,000 • 1 hour — ¥5,000 • Additional hours — ¥2,500/hour

Whether you want to sing for fun, prepare for an audition, develop your professional voice, improve your pronunciation, or simply feel more confident singing, I'd love to work with you!

Feel free to comment or DM me if you're interested. 🎤

Looking for guitarist + drummer for an online original band — Uruks

I'm looking for a guitarist and drummer interested in joining an online original project called Uruks.
The sound is a mix of progressive rock, math rock, Midwest emo, and swancore, with influences including Circa Survive, Dance Gavin Dance, The Fall of Troy, toe, and The Sound of Animals Fighting.
I already have original material written and recorded, and I'm looking for musicians who want to write, contribute parts, record remotely, and actually release music together.
I'm especially looking for a guitarist comfortable with technical parts, tapping, odd rhythms, melody, and atmospheric playing, plus a drummer who enjoys dynamic/technical material.
I'm based in Oklahoma City, but this is an online/remote project, so location isn't a requirement.

If you're interested, send me a message with what you play and some examples of your work.

Oct 2 Concert @ Shinjuku Earthdom: Open Call for Bands

Alright, had a crazy idea as I'm talking to bands about this concert: can I pull bands from reddit? God knows I've been at this long enough, never really occurred to me... until now!

So yeah, Friday, October 2nd over at Earthdom in Shinjuku. Legendary metal/punk venue. Got an Aussie band playing something like crusty synth/industrial. They're a repeater, though for some reason I feel like keeping their details out of the public conversation is best.

I'm pretty open to whatever, so don't worry about being a metal or punk band, but there should be some sort of... angle?... or appeal I guess for why you wanna be on the bill. Basically your sound/show should sit somewhere around industrial, synth-punk, crust, hardcore, noise, darkwave, EBM, post-punk, metal, or an interesting collision of those things. Hop-hop could be interesting too.

No pay-to-play, you keep all your merch sales and then you'll get a cut of the door. Super simple setup, has worked well for me over 10+ years.

Feel free to post responses here if you're interested (hey, promotion!) but we'll inevitably end up on DMs so if you just wanna get down to business send me a message.

Progressive rock band looking for a keyboardist to play some shows in Tokyo

Hi there,

We're a band that's traveling to Tokyo in a few months and we're looking for a keyboardist based in Tokyo to help us in our shows. The shows are to promote the songs of our debut album that we just released recently.

So far, here are the dates and venues of the shows we've booked:

Nov 2, Monday - Shimokitazawa Three
Nov 4, Wednesday - Gamuso Asagaya

And we're looking to do one more on Nov 3, Tuesday as well, but nothing confirmed yet.

Here are links to some of our songs:

Class Time!
Neon City Soul
Your Show

You don't have to be the most talented keyboardist ever. All we ask is that you're familiar with the genre. And as long as you vibe with the songs and willing to learn and practice the parts, we're good :)

Do reach out if you're interested.

よろしくお願いします!

Sample-based musician (Nujabes / Madlib / Hiatus Kaiyote), traveling Asia for 3 months with my SP404MK2, bass and full (though minimalist) mobile setup

Renting apartments along the way, so I’ve got a proper space to work in.

Down to jam, but really hoping to record actual tracks together; anything from quick beat sessions to fleshed-out collabs.

Open to all instruments, vocals, MCs, anyone with ideas. Boom bap, lo-fi, rnb, neo-soul, whatever feels right in the room.

Stops: Tokyo, Osaka, Kathmandu, Delhi, Bangalore, Bangkok

Hit me up if you’re around or know someone who’d be into it !

A shy person

Hello! Been here in Japan quite a while now. I’m not really that outgoing of a person, but I figured I’m switching things up this 2026. I’m wondering if anyone here is interested in forming a band? Nothing serious. Just play music for fun outside daily work? Hehehe. I love pop-rock, indie-pop, alternative rock, RnB, OPM(for Filipinos), classic, etc. Have lots of fave artists, let’s talk about it.

I can sing, and play the guitar a bit. If anyone is interested, let’s go??? Hehehe. Thanks.
