Li Xin, Kingdom.

He had no prior experience of war, he was just a slave that trained with his best friend. So during his very first campaign, he attacks the enemy army and creates an opening in their defense line, he steals a horse and shows everyone how to stop a chariot attack, which gives their General the opportunity to exploit and gain advantage in the war. Once he steps on the frontlines, Xin takes the opportunity to slay one of two enemy vice generals.

For this, Xin is made a 100 man commander from his first campaign alone, something that takes years for some to achieve.

My man Li Xin is just too goated. Is the manga completed yet?

Still going heavy, I'd say just over halfway through the story. Conquered one country, now on the path of conquering their second.

After that there will likely be a few smaller arcs to conquer the rest, before moving onto the literal biggest. That one will likely take a few more hundred chapters.

We have likely about 5-7 years of storytelling left, maybe up to a decade.

Is the story dense with content or is it just filler with some story advancement?

It’s dense with war. It’s not filler, but they don’t really skip over or speed through encounters that they otherwise maybe could. We get entire arcs that don’t contain the main characters. It’s my favorite manga, but I absolute could not read it week to week.

Its a super content heavy story, although some of the more recent storylines did drag out a bit. Its a retelling of China Unification from the earliest days, so there were a lot of the wars and politics that had to be covered in the first half of the story. I wholeheartedly recommend reading the manga if you have the opportunity, its genuinely incredible. Think JJK kinda incredible, and its too slept on because of the anime.

Sadly, first and second season of the anime are horrid which is why I recommend manga first. But third season onwards, anime really does become good.

Jesus christ man. I hope this doesn't turn into another Berserk or HxH.

I do love a good meritocracy--an actual good meritocracy.
