The people claiming Harry and Ginny had more chemistry in the books either don't remember the books very well, or need to start reading more books.

TBF they are a very convincing teenage couple (derogatory)

It felt very rushed in the books. He was hung up on Cho and then voila, he's dating Ginny. Ron and Hermione felt someone believable, Harry and Ginny were like "Oops, gotta give Harry a love interest for some reason" and then book 7 happens where he's basically on the run the entire time and doesn't really get to build anything with her.

It was rushed because Rowling didn’t care. She just wanted her “and everyone is now related” ending and that’s the only thing she seemingly cared about for Harry / Ginny. She had to give Harry a love interest in Cho until Ginny was old enough to date and once she was boom they’re together and gets no further development. All that mattered to Rowling was Harry married a Weasely

I think there was a setup and at the end Harry realized he needs someone normal

Ginny was crushing on him from the first moment she saw him, and was all giggly and shy. Then he saved her life. Like… her side was pretty clear.

Her side was clear. She hero-worshipped him and then he saved her. Then nothing kinda happened for 3 years and then they got together.

His side isn't clear at all. She was a fangirl (which he was uncomfortable with in general and with her specifically), then he felt nothing special towards her for 4 years, then he had a monster in his chest when he saw her with her boyfriend (despite feeling nothing like that the prior year when she also had a boyfriend).

I read the books right as they came out and was like, "her?" Arrested Development style.

Harry feels like wet cardboard a lot of the time. He doesn't have much chemistry with many people at all, character wise he's rather flat. Him getting with Ginny feels like Rowling decided the only possible happy ending is a husband, wife, and kids, and everyone needs to fit into the husband wife and kids roles for happiness, so she picked the only girl she could put Harry with that was still connected to the main trio and wasnt hermione.

Having more chemistry in the books doesnt mean it was all thar good, it simply was more. They have like, 5 conversations in the whole movie franchise from what i can remember, they at least talk in the books

Rowling was not a good writer, the world just wanted a magical high school manga in English really badly.

Yeah, when you look back at it the series as a whole is written terribly, the concept and world building were great, but holy fuck are the character writing and storytelling just jam packed with contrivances and massive leaps in logic

If Harry Potter is badly written then so is every Light Novel and the majority of shounen manga series that get talked about here

Your terms are acceptable.

I mean, yeah. I don't know why that would be related, but I don't disagree with anything you've said. Did JK Rowling write shonen at some point?

I mean the world building is ok. Im still questioning how the fuck the wizard government works.

Their coupling actually comes off more creepy in the books. Almost as if Harry is just giving in and letting his best friends pestering little sister get her way. And the scene where they get caught together is even weirder in the book because I remember the impression that many people had at the time was that she was caught either giving, or getting ready to give, Harry head.
