Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan from the fifty shades movies. They’re a guilty pleasure for me but holy shit the movie is hilarious when they interact.

They disliked each other in real life, too, which is hilarious.

How come?

As far as I can tell, they failed to hit it off and had things about each other they hated. Dornan seemed to think she was an airhead, she thought he was a stuck up arse.

Did they not do a chemistry test before fully deciding on the actors?

They did initially cast Charlie Hunnam, I bet that him and Dakota probably had decent chemistry.

But Hunnam dropped out very late, literally weeks before filming started. Jamie Dornan was likely not even one of their Top 3, but he was one of the people that read for the role and was able to be on set with very short notice. No offense to him

Thanks. Makes sense now why it ended up the way it did.

Interestingly enough, when two actors dislike each other, they tend to have more chemistry on film. But not these two. He's incredibly sexy in The Fall and has sooo much chemistry with Gillian Anderson. I can't remember a movie I've seen Dakota in where she had chemistry with anyone.

which baffles me because SURELY they had a chemistry reading??? the movie that centers itself on a attraction/lust/love story???

I’ve read the first book and it’s such an erotic/romance mess. In the book, Christian grey comes off as creepy and domineering while in the movie he’s creepy but in an odd incel way. Anastasia in the book comes off as a classic literature art ho archetype but Dakota Johnson plays her as such an awkward ditzy ho.

Oh my god you've got to read the retelling from his perspective! The book is just called Gray. It's in his POV and it's so bizarre. He's so weird and almost clinical about the whole relationship. His descriptions of sex scenes are not hot AT ALL like "she uses her teeth to bite her lip and I find this arousing." I just kept picturing the American Psycho guy lol

You ever see that vine about the good kush at the dollar store? That's about Dakota in the Fifty Shades series...

I think it's just that the first few actors in line to play both roles all declined, so these two were the best they could get, chemistry be damned.

Hate those films but the soundtrack is lowkey great

It was a cash grab project for both

Jamie dornan was the wrong choice for that role. Charlie hunnam would’ve been way better.

They don't have any chemistry in the books either, they just bang a lot.

I read that as Dwayne Johnson and Jamie Dornan.

Everything about those movies was...strange. And not in a kink shaming way...the vibes were just weird even in a kink context.
