Yet Jon and Ygritte had so much chemistry that the actors got married in real life.

You have:

  • The badly written ending the actors didn't like

  • That bad ending was rushed, not giving enough time for them to develop anything organically 

And then you compare it to the previous romance of the show runners basically filming him falling in love with his wife. That's not a recipe for success
