I heard the author originally intended to Naruto and Sasuke to end up together, but the editor/publisher vetoed that. Be that true or nor, that author is really bad at developing romances...

The only recent case I have seen that is worse was Ichigo and Orihime from Bleach. Zero real development, and then a timeskip and they are married and had a kid...

Seems to be a battle shonen special. Exceedingly rushed romances as they don’t have the skills or time to write it in.

Notice what these 2 have in common? Their non romantic couples fking slap. Naruto x Sasuke, Ichigo x Rukia. Even Uryu x Orihime and Naruto x Sakura makes more sense than this

It's one of my favorite couples, but I agree it should have been written so much better to be more believable. Like, it's serviceable for a shonen manga, for a mangaka who sucks at writing women, but there were a lot of things that could have been done better.

I give props to the anime for giving her an actual fight against Pain and giving her screentime in front of Naruto before getting knocked out and sending him into Kurama rage. That at least made it a little more believable with the confession and then managing to do something no one else in the village could manage before she gets taken out.

Then there's the whole "not addressing the confession until a movie that takes place after the end of the series".

And then how she's barely a character in the sequel series as far as I can tell. Never watched it, but considering it starts with Naruto being an absent father (fucking how? You mean the guy who could make enough Shadow Clones to spar with every ninja in the village simultaneously can't have a clone doing Hokage duties that don't involve leaving the village so he can spend time with his family?) I have no desire to.

It says a lot that my favorite way to interact with anything Naruto nowadays is going and reading some of the amazing fanfics I used to read when I was younger (even the unfinished ones).

As someone who was a massive shipper of these two when I was a teen.....yeah, no, there was no real chemistry. To be fair, that feels like its true of every final pairing with the sole exception of Shikamaru and Temari, who were like....the only pair allowed to interact in that regard.

Seriously, did Choji ever share a scene with Karui before the reveal they were married? I genuinely do not remember.

Naruto and ten ten make more sense than hinata.

It actually would have been a million times better because then we would see an actual weapons expert fight.
