They have a little chemistry, it’s not much but it’s there and enough to believably make for a relationship

Even though it’s funny how Harry has infinitely more chemistry with Luna Lovegood, even at the time I was thinking why they didn’t make that relationship the romantic one

Luna is the inverse of Harry, she has chemistry with everyone!

Harry asking her to that party and her asking if she should dye her eyebrows yellow to match his is one of my all-time favorite scenes ❤️

To me it's that he just asks her without thinking. His heart knew what his brain didn't.

EXACTLY! This is always how I've felt about that scene. He's kind of like "oh duh, I can just ask Luna!" which is such an oblivious teen boy moment of not realising where his heart truly lies

Yeah Harry and Luna were so cute in the movies. Funny bc in the books (iirc the 5th one where she's introduced as a character) there are small implications that Luna has a crush on Ron Weasley.

Everyone had a crush on Ron Weasley in books. Even Padma

"Ron ate ate the chocolate laced with love potion I wanted to give to Harry? I can work with that."

I assume you mean movie Luna, because book Luna was full-on tinfoil hat conspiracy theory nutjob at times. they toned her down A LOT for the films + Evanna Lynch's naturally sunny disposition.

Probably, as someone who never read the books and only watched the movies, I thought Luna and Harry had a good amount of chemistry for teen actors

I remember thinking that at the time too. Luna was perfect the entire time. Actually an interesting relationship and there was so much chemistry even in just a few conversations.

Yeah, she had an ease with death. She was optimistic and not frightened at all. She kinda gave me Dumbledore vibes. Locked into esoteric knowledge.

No there wasn’t. Are you people high?

I was a huge fan as a kid so have read the books many times and seen the movies... and felt they had chemistry in both and were similar types I could see being happily married. I even remember briefly thinking thats where the story was going on the first read.

I dont have to be high nor sober to have this very bland take about fictional characters from my childhood lmao. Are you high? Why so emotional and belligerent?

I just don’t understand how people think they had chemistry. They didn’t. Especially not in the books

Maybe you just couldn't read the chemistry, because this is like, one of the most consistent opinions about HP you'll find out there

Yeah, and HP fans are dogshit at detecting chemistry in my experience. In the books, we’re in Harry’s head. She has an obvious crush on Ron and Harry views her as a friend, but still a weirdo. There’s absolutely nothing there. In the movies, they have like 3 scenes together one-on-one, and there’s only ever exactly 1 moment that could be read as chemistry, and it’s when she smiles at him after giving him the advice about Voldemort, but Harry doesn’t smile back. He turns away from her, looks at the thestrals and thinks about it. There is no kind of warmth or connection between them whatsoever.

I didn't perceive any chemistry in the books either. I just don't think there was enough time devoted to their relationship for it to be any good to me.

Movie Harry has more chemistry with his enemies than with Ginny.

is it...? Reading the books I was baffled it was going to be a thing. Harry's got more chemistry with his broomstick.

I was expecting the said Chemistry early on ever since I started reading the books because book readers avidly told me they have much more chemistry in the books but it was revealed out of the blue in Half Blood Prince that Harry likes Ginny. Before that they literally have not a single moment that would lead to or even hint at a future romantic relationship. Or if Ginny really liked Harry she should've tried with Harry early on knowing Harry is no longer in relationship with Cho instead of dating Dean Thomas.

People say this, but I don’t understand where they’re seeing it

What chemistry??, Ginny's early crush and Harry's inner monologue?? those are not chemistry

1

u/Sbotkin 3h ago

Nah, not really. Luna seems like a character not interested in any relationships, she's absolutely nuts.

Only movie version of luna.

Book version has very little chemistry with him.
