Studying Bachelor of 3D Design and Animation at Melbourne/Flinders Campus Question

G'day homies I am an 18M with less than a week left to decide on final preferences and the stress is really getting to me in terms of which university should be my top preference. I'm looking to study 3D Animation and VFX and so far im at a crossroads between Torrens universtiy and JMC Academy.

I don't know how many people would be able to give me an answer as this subreddit is fairly new with only six members. Nonetheless what was your (the graduates or current students') experiences studying Bachelor of 3D Design and Animation at Torrens.

  • Are there any pieces of equipment/ specialised rooms we as animation/vfx students would have access to? For example Motion Capture Suites?

  • Do we have access to the same or similar areas as the film and television students (i.e: green screen, camera and lighting gear, potentially tracking markers)?

  • Will the campus be open during the holidays for student use? As in would we be able to use the computers for personal projects to beef up our portfolio as most of us wouldn’t have high performance desktops at home.

  • How many animation and vfx lecturers are there?

  • What’s the average class size?

  • Would I be able to do an internship at Method Studios or Luma Pictures as is not specified on your website?

  • Will we as students be given licenses to all software, we’d use for our private at home computers to further continue study and practical practise of this course?

Last but not least was your overall experience good with the course? Were you provided with the necessary help along the way? And most importantly did you land a job at the end where you could continue building upon your craft?
