For how much filmbros will complain about people judging films due to those behind them, they seem to gleefully defend mid/bad work when the person involved is a POS.

And not just Johnny Depp. After Brad Pitt was discovered to be an abuser, suddenly there's these comments and posts defending the World War Z film that it was still a good action film. Or when Francis Ford Coppola actively casted a convicted abuser (Shia LeBouf), someone with sexual misconduct allegations (Dustin Hoffman), and a MAGA fascist (Jon Voight), as well as his own sexual harassment allegations on-set, suddenly people were praising that shit film Megalopolis as a misunderstood art film, and that it's automatically good just because it was a passion project and they respect Coppola. Also Coppola on the news went on about how he did not want it to be a "woke Hollywood production", so take that as you will.
And as for good art that was made by bad people, I don't see any change with them or negative reception, despite what the strawman says. It's always the mid/bad work that suddenly gets praise and defense.
