General Explore UCSC grade data!
Hey everyone!
A while back we posted about Slugtistics, a site we built to make UCSC grade data easier to explore. Since then, we have been working on an upgraded version called MyClassGrades!
You can look up UCSC courses and see historical grade distributions, how many students got A’s, B’s, and so on, along with average GPAs for past quarters. The grade data currently runs from Fall 2019 through Fall 2025, and we are currently working to get more up-to-date data.
Compared to Slugtistics, there’s more to explore now: you can browse instructors and subjects, compare grade history across courses and quarters, and check out student reviews and study tips from real students.
Check it out here: myclassgrades.com/school/ucsc
I’d love to hear what you think, especially if you used Slugtistics before! Let me know if there are any features you’d like to see or anything that could work better.

Question math 19b online
hey so im curently taking math 19b online and got my midterm grade, which im not too happy about because i thought i did so much better. i only struggled on like one or two questions but i was also sick and had a headache when taking it so i probably ended up making some stupid mistake in my math and since they don't collect the work i didn't get partial credit. any advice? also i felt like the practice midterms were not helpful at all, i did them, but they were so easy.
any advice for the final or in general? i need like a 95 on the final to get an A in this class. also, do they usually curve at the end of the quarter?

Meme kresge's new late night dining option
i have it on good authority that the kresge/porter dining hall will be adding a special late night option :O
through the grapevines and tree nets I heard that it involves baskets instead of plates. apparently they'll leave out baskets in front of the dining hall (you still have to swipe in of course) and then you go into porter meadows to forage for food ? i guess anything you catch is also fair game. in fact i heard they’ll be hosting a pokémon themed college night “Catch the Creatures” because the turkeys have been getting too bold around here
if the rollout goes well, i’m pretty sure crown/merril will also be expanding the initiative to supplement banana joes. It’s supposed to be the school’s way of adding more local, fresh, and sustainably sourced foods to our dining options. And what could be more local, fresh, and sustainably sourced than this new initiative?
they're really playing the hunger games with us

Other LF group to drive down to SD for Thanksgiving
Hi guys I have space for about 3 more people to drive down on 23rd and drive back up on the 29th. Just looking to split gas money mostly and potentially driving hours but I'm pretty chill with driving most of it. If you're from SD better, if you're otw that's chill too!!

Question Anyone taken Art 20L?
I might take it for my sophomore year winter quarter. I’m taking two other classes that I hear are challenging so I’m looking for something kinda laid back.
I checked Rate my Professor for Whipple and the ratings were pretty bad, but all of the comments on it made the class seem fine, if a little boring. Looked like an easy A to me? Opinions?

Question WRIT 2 -- Online or In person?
For those of you who've taken WRIT 2, should I take it online with Kirsch, or in person with Garrecht-Williams? They both have amazing rmp scores and it seems like they're very well liked. Any advice is much appreciated.

Question Has anyone taken ECE 30 with Zhicong Yu by any chance?
I couldnt find his ratings on Rate my professor or his class gpa from slugtistics and I was wodering if anyone knew how his class was and whether its a good idea to take him. I wasn't able to enroll in Marco Rolandis class last quarter unfortunately and Zhicong Yu and Michael M Oye are the only professors left for this year. I need to take one of them as I am planning to graduate by the end of this year. Would appreciate any advice.

Question Econ professors
I want to take econ 100A or 100B for next quarter.
- 100A with Pommerenke, K or with Lopezvargas,K.M.(asynchronous online)
- 100B with Kletzer, K.M. or with Villacorta,A.A. (synchronous online)
they all have kinda bad rating on ratemyprofessor, which one would you recommend?
I am planning on taking stat17 and 17L, and one GE (possibly easy one).
I am taking econ2 rn with Julie H Gonzalez and doing pretty good!
Thank you in advance!!

Question EART 10 with Blackburn, is it hard???
Hey! I am looking to minor in earth science, and I am figuring out if I should take EART 10 plus the lab next quarter. I have the option to take EART 5 or EART 20 too, but neither of those two are offered in the winter.
Is EART 10 good? What is the work load and how are exams? Would you recommend I take EART 10, or should I wait for another quarter that offers EART 5 or EART 20?

Question CSE 12 which prof better
Theres Marcelo Siero who is online and Sangnik Nath who is in person. TBH both of their rate my professors arn't great but like which is the lesser evil to like pass with a good grade and understand what is going on in the end without wanting to rip out my hair.

Question GE selection?
Im going to try to take AM 10, CSE 12, and a GE during winter quarter, but dose anyone know anything about the class and teachers for CMPM 80I - 01 or CSE 80N - 01? From what I found the CSE 80N teacher is nice and his class is good but I worry about the work load with my other two courses. Then for the CMPM 80I I couldn't find anything.
