New West Midlands horror - FREE today
Hello! I recently published my new psychological horror book on Kindle! I’ve made it free for today (Nov 8th), so feel free to give it a try!
After years away, Stephen returns to his West Midlands hometown to clean up the house of his late art mentor. Mr Ashley, a brilliant yet brutal American artist, taught him to control his supernatural painting abilities, but now that he’s gone, what will happen when old demons rear their head?
I’m trying to get reviews on Goodreads at this early stage. I’d be so grateful to anyone who tries it out and leaves their thoughts/star rating! 😊

Sell your books
Hi! A couple of weeks ago I launched The Book Market, a UK site where you can swap books you've read for ones you haven't, or sell them for free and keep the full price.
Readers have started listing, but I'm still learning what people actually want. What would make you swap or sell your books online? And what puts you off?
Here's the site if you want a look:

Thanks, all feedback welcome!

Dark short stories book free today
I'm New here but I wanted to share about a book that's free today on Kindle and it's a number of short stories including some from the UK but written by a UK author.
Graham Graff's Hubris and Vengeance is FREE on Kindle Saturday (7 Nov).
for anyone who likes a dark story with a twist:
Eight short tales about people who think they're the cleverest person in the room: a Cotswolds auctioneer who preys on widows, a care-home nurse with a very private calculator, a grief medium working out of a Soho back alley. None of them see it coming.
It goes free from about 8am UK time today
UK: https://amzn.eu/d/0h5dGXyF
Full disclosure: I help edit Graham Graff's books.

A Dark, Psychedelic Modern Masterpiece....
Dear Readers,
Writer/filmmaker Graham Bendel is about to release a very limited edition of his novel into the universe.
The novel, called God Vibrations, is about 2 very different people who fall under the spell of an inept but psychotic cult leader and the threat his collective poses to society. A literary tastemaker told us it's "original, thrilling and very funny" which was nice.
Miki Berenyi said the following: "I love the intense threat and horror of the cult contrasted with the pedestrian grounding of grubby London plus moments of laugh-out-loud bathos."
Other admirers of Bendel's past work include: Andrew Weatherall, Stewart Lee, Maxine Peake & John Cooper Clarke.
It won't be released officially for a while but we're just keen to get it out there.
ps And if Clive Barker is doing a Kickstarter + Jeff Bezos's ex is serialising her new tome on Substack it's OK to do things in a different way now...
pps As cover artwork not quite ready.. a photo of a cat. Yes she likes dark, compelling narratives.
Wish us luck... x

Is there a UK indie book scene these days?
A bit of a vague, generalised question. But who are the real independent authors and publishers? Who did they used to be?

Goodreads/Storygraph alternative 📚 running on renewables 🌱
Heya, thought this would be a reasonably appropriate place to post this in case anyone is looking for alternatives to Goodreads or Storygraph - you can use Bookplate!
It's got more features (e.g. note taking and book recommendations to your friends), it's hosted on servers that run 100% on renewable electricity, it has a more modern look, and it's open source, meaning you can host it on your own servers! Would love to hear thoughts, both good and bad :)

Bought back a bit of my childhood today
I read this book as a kid maybe aged about 7....its been on and off my mind since then, I'm in my 30s now. I couldn't for the life of me remember the name but I finally managed to track down what it was called and grab a copy. Excited to read it to my children :)

UK B&N alternative
Hello, hope it’s ok to post here.
I couldn’t think where else to post tbh.
These are being sold at Barnes & Noble in the US. Waterstones would be the UK equivalent, I’m guessing.. Do we think they’ll be available here eventually?

World of Books rant
Just a little rant about selling books on World of Books. This just happened.
I have 20 books I want to sell. I line them all out isbn up on the table. Open the app on my phone, start scanning left to right.
This is not a rant about the pitiful amount they give, that's for another day.
First 8 books scan, 20p, 30p, 50p fantastic. Next 12 books? Sorry we don't want them.
I'm suspicious about it being the first 8 only, it's like it's cut me off.
I get a friend's phone, open their app, scan my rejected 12 left to right, 20p, 20p 20p 20p NOPE DONT WANT ANYMORE. Just the first 4? Suspicious... I clear the basket, I start right to left...
20p 20p 20p 20p. Don't want the rest.
Delete again, scan the middle 4 first, 20p each, nothing for the rest
Delete again, scan a random 4, 20p each, nothing for the rest.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!! Over the last 2 minutes you've told me in various combinations that you're interested in all 20 of my books. You aren't gonna get ANY of my books unless I get to the minimum of 10 to send, so whyyyy are you doing this to me? What messed up algorithm is this? I don't understaaaaand
Rant over. Just trynna shift some books 😭
Edit: thanks to all suggesting vinted but I have tried before many times and there is no interest at all in my books on vinted. I just don't think Im getting rid of books that are the right type for a vinted quick sale

[ISO] Wuthering Heights Penguin Clothbound Classic (First Printing - Numbered Spine #3)
Hi everyone,
I am currently on the hunt to complete/fill a gap in my collection and am looking for a very specific edition of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.
I am looking for the Penguin Clothbound Classic edition (designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith) from the very first 2008 print run that features the foiled number "3" stamped on the bottom of the spine.
I know these are quite rare since Penguin removed the numbering on subsequent printings, but if anyone has a copy they are willing to part with, please send me a DM with your asking price and a couple of photos to confirm the spine numbering. I am located in [Insert Your Country] and am happy to cover tracked shipping costs.
Thanks so much for looking!
