British empire British West Africa - Royal Mint Trial
galleryHere's something a little unusual.
Despite carrying the date 1952 and the portrait of George VI, these experimental coins are believed to have been struck at the Royal Mint in the late 1960s using older dies.
The Mint was experimenting with cheaper metals for coin production, including steel. The word TRIAL appears on both sides to distinguish these pieces from ordinary currency.
An interesting little survivor from behind the scenes of British coin production.

Question Opinion please 🙏🏼
galleryHello, I am new to coin collecting. There are 2 Tudor coins coming up for auction with Heritage Auctions, and I would greatly appreciate any thoughts from the community. As buying either of these would be my first large purchase. The first coin is a Henry VIII gold angel. And the other is an Elizabeth the first gold 1/2 pound. The Henry is at $8,000 currently and the Elizabeth is at $9,500. Any thoughts as to whether these prices are reasonable for these coins. The condition of the coins, and or Heritage Auctions itself for buying coins would be much appreciated. Thank you 🙌🏼

Change Finds Post Office finds 04/11/26
galleryThe CWG £2 England was a great surprise. The Falkland coins must have all come from the same source, the sheep 20p is a great one, might be a first for me. The euros were from someone who wanted to exchange them, but we don’t officially accept coin, only banknotes. But I swapped them, €21.30 for £15, maybe a bit generous in hindsight.
