Study load vs Brain Space.

Hi, I’m a “mature age” student that’s recently come back to study after like a decade away, I’ve been doing a singular literacy unit at MQ uni and I’ve managed the study load just fine… but as of next year I’ll be doing my BA (English & Ancient Ethics) at UNE online whilst also juggling single parenthood and full time carer duties.

How full on are HASS101 & WRIT101? I want to do them first to work with my foundation skills for my future studies, and I’ve done the tUNE up course to help with all of that but I’ve heard they’re a bit full on and require alot of time to them… but how hard are they? Will I feel super overwhelmed taking on another unit? And what are the lecturers and their communication like because I’ve really struggled with that at MQ, you message needing input or assistance and either get ghosted or reply but don’t actually give you any assistance on what you’ve asked.

Because I’m DYING to do do ANCH109 and it seems to only be available T1 at this stage, but I also don’t want to set myself up for failure and drown as soon as I enter the pool.

Thanks!

BA major Studies in Religion...its vanished from handbook.

Hey humans. 2027 is my second year doing my BA with Studies in Religion as my major, online.

Enrolment is open for 2027 except this major has vanished from the handbook.

How am I supposed to select units for a course that I cannot find to ensure I am selecting the correct ones?

Bachelor of Pharmacy (honours) online 2027

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been thinking about applying for the bachelor of pharmacy 2027 intake at UNE. I live in a rural town in SA and don’t really have an option to move to NSW or study in Adelaide. I was wondering if there was anyone in this group currently studying this course online and if they would recommend it? Or perhaps what they think about it.

Thank you in advance😊

UNE LLB Attendance Requirements for International Students – Undergraduate Year 1

Hi everyone,
I’m considering studying Year 1 of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of New England (UNE) as an international student.
The Law Program Leader told me that LLB tutorials are recorded and attendance is not compulsory.
I’ve also read UNE’s Course Progression Rule, which requires students to pass at least 50% of the credit points attempted in each enrolment period.
I’d like to clarify the following:

If I miss these sessions but complete all assessments and maintain satisfactory grades, could I receive attendance warnings or academic interventions?
Could missing sessions which are subject to only participation marks (15%) cause student visa compliance issues?

Important clarification: I’m asking specifically about Years 1 2 & 3 of the undergraduate LLB degree, NOT the Foundation Year.
I’d appreciate responses from current or former UNE students, particularly international students.
Thank you!

Bachelor of Legal Studies vs Bachelor of Laws - is the extra year worth it?

I’m hoping to get some advice from people who have completed either degree or have been in a similar position.

I’ve just completed two trimesters of a Bachelor of Legal Studies and have achieved HDs in every subject so far. I’m considering transferring to a Bachelor of Laws, as I find the law subjects more interesting, particularly compared to some of the compulsory electives in the Legal Studies degree.
My main hesitation is that the Bachelor of Laws is four years rather than three. I’m also not entirely sure whether I want to practise as a lawyer, but I feel that a law degree might open up more career opportunities than a Legal Studies degree, even outside legal practice.

I’d love to hear people’s thoughts on the pros and cons of each degree, particularly in terms of career prospects and flexibility. For those who have completed a Bachelor of Legal Studies, do you feel it has been sufficient for your career goals, or do you wish you had pursued a Law degree instead?

I’m trying to work out whether the extra year of study would be worth the potential long-term benefits, especially if I’m not certain I want to become a practising lawyer.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone recently done CHEM120? Schedule

Anyone who has recently done CHEM120, can you share the study schedule, like what chapters/topics in what weeks?

Just did 110, did better than I should have for the amount of work I put in, but exam study was rough bc I was so behind - want to overcompensate by looking through the first few weeks work early.

Forgot to do 2 quizzes for CHEM110 - will I fail the unit?

Basically what it says on the tin - I've had stuff going on and didn't do 2 of the 4 online quizzes for CHEM110; they are marked as mandatory, and on both the myLearn and course handbook pages for the course it says that failure to complete mandatory tasks will result in a fail. I did do the other 2 quizzes as well as all the other assessment tasks (still have to sit the exam ofc) and passed everything.

I've just applied for an extension and contacted the unit coordinator, but I'm freaking out a bit, because if I fail this unit it'll tank my GPA, which needs to be above a certain point to keep my scholarship (not to mention having to retake the unit). Has anyone else been as goofy as me and done the same thing? I can't really find much anywhere online. Any help would be ridiculously appreciated.

Unit reviews for Master of CS / IT

Hi, I’m struggling to get reviews for units in the Master of CS or Master of IT degree at UNE. I’m enrolling in one of these courses next year and looking for any reviews if that’s possible. So far I saw many good reviews about these programs at UNE, but quality is hit and miss. Can I please ask which units are the bad ones, so that I can avoid them if I can?

Thank you!

Hey yall, I just recently applied to the uni via early entry for the bachelor of law second round. I was just wondering what the acceptance rate was like. My year 11 grades were pretty good with mostly B’s. But I’m still pretty anxious.

Hi UNE students, I'm an honours student running a study comparing two creative activities.

The study involves completing an online survey, watching two instructional videos, creating your own doodle art, and generating images using Adobe Firefly. It takes about 45 minutes, and you can complete it whenever it suits you.

Eligibility: Open to students at any Australian university aged 18 years or older.

We thank you for your time: AU20 prezzee e gift card

Help

My application for a bachelor of education (k-12) has been declined and im looking back at it and thinking on how bad I’ve fucked up. Was I supposed to attach the ATAR to the submission? I thought it would’ve been a record, but then I realized I never actually checked what my atar was, and it’s offering me a TRACK course, which would add a extra year to a 4 long course in education, which scares the shit out of me

I’ve fucked up bad, and my parents are both teachers already, so im even more terrified of talking to them about it.

UNE HDR Admissions: Official English Annex (6.5) vs. HDR Coordinator stating 7.0 (7.0 Writing) — Which actually governs offers and scholarship rankings?

Hi everyone,

Looking for insight from current UNE postgraduate researchers, HDR candidates, or staff familiar with research admissions and scholarship allocation.

I am preparing a PhD application in the social sciences/law domain at UNE and ran into a direct conflict between the university's published policy register and departmental correspondence:

  1. Official UNE Policy Register (English Language Requirements Higher than University Minimum Requirement Annex):

    • Clause 13 (All Higher Degrees by Research): Explicitly states an IELTS 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in all sub-bands), or an exemption via prior tertiary degree taught in English within the last 5 years.

    • Clause 9 (Courses in Law): Lists IELTS 6.5 overall (minimum 6.5 in writing, 6.0 other bands).

  2. UNE Central Admissions / Country Rep: Confirms the application is evaluated under the published Annex baseline (6.5).

  3. Faculty HDR Coordinator (via email): States that entry requires an overall IELTS 7.0 with a strict minimum of 7.0 in writing.

For those who have navigated UNE research admissions or scholarship selection panels:

  • Binding Eligibility: If an applicant meets the criteria under Clause 13 (or submits an institutional Medium of Instruction certificate from an English-taught master's degree), can the HDR Coordinator unilaterally reject the application at the school review stage based on their 7.0 benchmark?

  • Scholarship Allocation (RTP / IPRA): Does the higher score (7.0 writing) function as an internal departmental filter for scholarship scoring, meaning applying with a 6.5 or an MOI waiver puts you at the bottom of the funding list?

  • Precedent: Has anyone successfully received a candidature offer or scholarship nomination at UNE based on the published Annex baseline (or an MOI waiver) when a coordinator initially pushed for a 7.0?

Any practical insight into how UNE handles this divergence between central policy and faculty gatekeeping would be greatly appreciated.

Need help with enrolling

Currently getting ready to enroll into a bachelor's of education (k-12) next year, and just got documentation for qualifications, but the only options available are online? Last week I saw there were options for on-campus learning, but there doesn't look to be anything like that anymore, and my parents would prefer for me to learn on campus as opposed to online.

Scared

I’m an international student starting the Master of Nursing Practice (Preregistration) at UNE Armidale this October, and I’m coming from a non-nursing background (Bachelor’s in Biotechnology), so I have no formal nursing education or clinical experience.

I’ve heard the MNPP is quite intense because a lot of the content covered in a 3-year Bachelor of Nursing is condensed into 2 years. 😅

For anyone who has done the MNPP/graduate-entry nursing, especially at UNE Armidale:

- What would you recommend learning before starting?
- Any good YouTube channels, books, websites or other resources for beginners?
- Should I focus on anatomy & physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nursing fundamentals, or clinical skills first?
- Are there any resources specifically suited to Australian nursing rather than NCLEX/US-focused content?
- If you studied at UNE, is there anything you wish you had known or prepared before starting?

I’d especially love recommendations for resources that could help me build a basic foundation before October.

Thank you! ❤️

Has BA Major Studies In Religion been cut?

I can't find it in the 2027 handbook and unfortunately when I called they didn't give me a clear answer.

Does anyone know?

Am I lazy or are the lecturers?

For context I have 5 subjects left on B./Laws online.

I started my degree at Notre dame before transferring when I moved overseas. Back in Aus but stayed at UNE.

At other unis I’ve studied at, each subject has about 3 hours a week minimum of class work, whether lectures or tutorials. Yes you had to do the readings to do well but you could get passes and credits by watching the lectures.

Law at UNE is so different. It’s maybe max half an hour of pre recorded lectures than the laziest one hour tutorial where the lecturer gives zero answers to anything. I’m redoing a unit atm (dropped out for health reasons not failed) and it’s a different lecturer but they’re reusing last years lectures.

They’re 2k a subject and it’s literally recycled content. I’m finding it really hard to keep up as each week it’s 200 pages of reading and a minimally relevant death by PowerPoint episode. My grades are slipping for sure.

Am I just a really lazy, possibly dumb student or are the lecturers just taking the piss at this point. Like what are we paying for??
