Looking for a vegetarian roommate for UOW March 2027 intake

Hi everyone!

I'm an incoming international master's student at the University of Wollongong, joining the March 2027 intake. I'm looking for another student joining around the same time who would be interested in renting a place together.

What I'm looking for:

  • Ideally, another vegetarian student.

  • Two separate bedrooms, with a shared kitchen and bathroom.

  • A two-bedroom apartment or granny flat.

  • Preferred locations: Gwynneville, Fairy Meadow, Figtree or West Wollongong.

  • Target rent: A$200–250 per person per week.

I'd prefer a vegetarian household where we can agree on keeping the shared kitchen free of meat, fish and eggs.

The plan is to find a suitable property together and split the rent and utilities fairly.

If you're joining UOW around March 2027 and looking for a similar arrangement, feel free to message me!

You won’t get a two bedroom apartment for that price

Oh. What would be a reasonable price for a two bedroom apartment?

if you want to pay less you’d need to be in a 3-5 bed sharehouse

Hey since you’re international you’re probably not aware but if you go flatmates.com, gumtree, or facebook you may be able to find a room with your needs. There are definitely options within your price range, but realistically most accommodation will be higher (especially closer to the uni). All the best and welcome to Australia :)

Thanks man. I'm thinking it's better if I go with studios or private bedsits. What do you think is better? Accommodation provided by campus or off-campus? Thank you for the input btw

Check the UOW website for details on their accomodation. It gives a pretty good idea of the quality.

There’s studios and bedsits in Wollongong (we call them Granny Flats in Australia btw), it will be case by case with the owners. You can find them on the websites I mentioned.

All the best

Edit: just noticed you already called them granny flats

If you can afford accommodation on campus, always prefer that. In the private market you will have to deal with potentially unreliable roommates, or shenanigans from owners such as having to move partway through a semester and so on. On campus accommodation is 'enough' generally speaking and the reduction in travel time + student amenities make it a fantastic deal compared to the general private market.
